| Salla07-13-04, 05:24 PM | As I've said several times, my first Eberron game will be next week. The DM in question, however, has a pronounced tendency to want to run games that *start* in double-digit levels, which seems a little out-of-place for the lower-powered Eberron world. He's a big Misbegotten Realms fan, so I figure that's where it comes from. BUT ANYWAY! ... I'm going to try-try-try to have him start the game no higher than 3rd level so our characters actually have more forestory than backstory (for a change). I'm tempted to just go with the 'here, all us players sign a petition. If it's over 3rd level, we aren't playing, sorry', but I'd rather be not quite so heavy-handed and give him an in-world reason (which is, of course, harder to dispute). Any data that could be scrounged up to definitely drive home the 'This is not FR, there are no uber-powerful munchkin Elminsters around' concept? |

I would appeal to the DM and just say that since this is a new world that you as a group want to develop into it as it grows. You can also tell the DM that once you guys start maybe you could play out a one shot that is in the past with some 10th levels that tie into your current story arc. Kind of the prequal done after the show has started ala Bablon 5. My 2 cents  |

Well the ECSB itself has plenty of data to support that there are few high level NPCs in Eberron. If your DM is ignoring the plethora of that, it might be a lost cause.
