| borg_3911-24-05, 01:37 PM | I was thinking about makeing a Ebberon capmagin based around the nick show Avatar the last airbender. They are very simlar instead of lots of low level magic there is benders. They are in the middle of a 100 year long war while ebberon has just ended a 100 year long war. Comments? |
| Damien_Hiro11-24-05, 08:58 PM | I had a similar idea. I got hooked through my daughter, she was Katara for halloween and I was Aang. I slighty taller and stockier one. I think I should have been an earthbender. It is a great idea, but I was not familar with Eberron to do all of the changes necessary. I only got as far as making the cyrans, airbenders and valenar firebenders. I am at a loss for the earbenders and waterbenders. Even though I did think that the argonessen barbarians would make good waterbenders and talenta halflings as earthbenders. I think that the shugenja class is the perfect bender, but give them unnamred atacks and skill bonuses and feats for their areas of focus. Por ejemplo, giving an airbender the acrobatic feat and a +2 to diplomacy; fire benders- power attack and +2 to Intimidation; earthbenders- toughness and +2 Climb; waterbenders- feat? +2 Swim. Hope that helps. |

I wish Green Ronin would hurry up and publish Dragonfist already, because I'd like to use more Chinese influences in the OA campaign.. Quintessential Monk by Mongoose Press has been a big help in helping me to flesh out the fighting styles. Here are the styles in relation to the respective bending disciplines, or at least the ones I think they are from watching the marathon as I tape it. Air: From the swooshy looking hand strikes, it looks like Pa Kua Earth: Definitely Hung Gar Water: Some of the rocking & swaying movements Katara used in "The Waterbending Scroll" episode looked alot like Tai Chi. I'm at a loss for the style Katara uses for close combat. Fire: Looks like Wing Chun or some other Northern style. Zuko uses a lot of tiger claw, dragon claw, and hammer fist strikes when he manifests his flame bolts. The entire 1st season should be out on DVD the middle of next January. I'm currently taping the Avatar marathon that's running on Nick2 right now. :D |

You may want to tinker around with some of the psionic classes (especially the Psion / Shaper or the Psion / Kineticist) along with some of the spontaneous casting / magic-using / magic manipulating classes such as the Warlock. Some of the various Wu Jen spells from Complete Arcane look tailor-made as pseudo bending abilities: Waterbending: Ice Knife (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/ca_gallery/85463.jpg) Earthbending: Earthbolt (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/ca_gallery/85459.jpg) Firebending: Transmute Rock to Lava (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/ca_gallery/85468.jpg) Airbending: Cloud Chariot (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/ca_gallery/85457.jpg) I'd go somewhere in between a monk and an elemental warlock, if there was such a thing as an elemental warlock. Wu Jen seem to be the closest alternate, but I'd prefer to keep spell-casting and elemental bending separate. Bending doesn't require memorization of spells; only discipline and concentration. Elemental benders seem to use the martial arts as a means of shaping the element they've mastered, so I'd definitely mingle some properties from the Monk class when building my bender-style class or better yet, PrC's building on the Monk class. Fire Benders may even need to have Fighter & Monk pre-reqs before becoming full Fire Benders. |
| borg_3911-24-05, 10:25 PM | Hey thats anoter good idea thaks! i was also trying to stat out the air bison. Heres what i got so far Air Bison Gargantun magical beast thats about it so far(laughs at himself) not the beast creature maker out there Yeah my bro just told me that during the normal series a comercial told him that the creaters said they molded each one after a style of martial arts. |
