"It was the Dawn of the Third Age of Mankind, ten years after the Last War. The Thronehold Project was a dream given form. Its goal: to prevent another war by creating a place where humans and humanoids could work out their differences peacefully. It's a port of call, home away from home for diplomats, hustlers, entrepreneurs and wanderers. It can be a dangerous place, but it's our last, best hope for peace. The year is 1018. The name of the place is Eberron."

My current Eberron campaign draws heavily on Babylon 5, recast into the fantasy setting. The situation in Khovaire seems vaguely equivalent to the starting conditions of B5: a major war has just ended, and people are more willing to work together towards peace. Demons are roughly analogous to the Shadows, and having the Archerons be the equivalent of the Vorlorns fits beautifully with the moral ambiguity of Eberron.

I'm not trying to have the Khovairian nations mimic the B5 powers, but I am having an equivalent to the station: a mobile, flying fortress that travels between the nations. I've adapted a few characters over; so far, Zathras has made an appearance in the form of the emissary of a changeling village.

So, has anyone else done something like this? Are there any other paralels I'm missing? Any other thoughts?

Nice idea, but only if your adapted characters do not remind anyone of the abysmal "acting" of most of the shows "actors".

You could make the Deneith Sentinels like the Rangers.

We are Sentinels.
We walk in the dark places no others will enter.
We stand on the bridge, and no one may pass.
We live for the one, we die for the one.

I think it fits wonderfully for what you're doing.

Sounds pretty good, although I think the dragons of Argonessen work better for the Vorlon-esque group, while both the Inspired and the Daelkyr and their aberrations work as the Shadows.

I know you're not going for the whole direct-translation-thing, but here's an idea: Delenn as a Aereni Undying Court member, who performs a ritual to turn herself into a living half-elf. Lyta works as a Kalashtar psion, maybe a cerebromancer who is trained by the vorlon-esque dragons. (little stretch there, but the background ties work, I think. Maybe Gem dragons.)

shadows - Delkeyr
vorlons - the chamber
Psicorps - DD
rogue telepaths - Kalashtar
Centauri - Valenar

Wow...

It's impressive how many parallels there are.

How are the Valenar like the Centauri?

Centauri: Arrogant, decadent lords of a once-and-again mighty empire, who enslave at least one other race to do their dirty work, and prove their level of corruption by getting in league with dirty partners.

Valenar: Honor-bound warriors of an ancient martial tradition, that worship their ancestors and seek to emulate them. They just established a homeland for themselves apart from their holier-than-thou cousins, through a bit of treachery & backhanded homesteaders' rights, and have all-but made a nuisance of themselves raiding the countyside.

While there is the warlike similarity, I don't see much otherwise. I'd say in the manipulation and such, Cannith serves better, though they work financially rather than politically, especially if you made a comparison between the Narn and the Warforged, as ex-slaves seeking independence.

true, hadn't thought about Cannith and the warforged.

The main way in which they are similar is that both are really keen on recapturing the glories of the past.

The goblinoid Heirs of Dhakaan fit that same description.
