Backwards--New Meanings in Names? [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-05-04, 03:18 PM Well in an attempt to put off graduate work another hour I started putting names backwards from the Eberron book.

I'm not sure if anyone has tried this before: Again I do not currently have my book, one of my players has it. Please forgive the gaps. Any help is appricated. I'm not sure if they all have meanings but some are supicious.

Eberron Norrebe "Orrery"
Siberys Syrebis "Cyre"
Khyber Rebyhk "Byeshk"

Lammania Anniammal "Animal"
Fernia Ainref "?"
Irian Nairi "Air"
Risia Aisir "Aesir" Norse Mythology
Thelanis Sinaleht "Sin?"
Dolurrh Hrrulod "?"
Dal Qour Ruoq Lad "?"
Xoriat Tairox "Teer"
Shavarath Htaravahs "?"
Kythri Irthyk "?"
Daanvi Ivnaad "Invade"
Mabar Rabam "?"

Which proves that all the progenitor wyrms were dyslexic. Again this could be nonsense I am stalling work ^^

09-09-04, 12:51 AM It's a habit picked up in the late 60's when the Beatles may or may not have made it popular to write songs both backwards and forewards. The most famous example comes from Led Zepplein's Stairway to Heavin.
Sometimes there really would be a hidden meaning in the song, other times it sounded like jiberish, others it was just a really, really, creepy conicidence.

Looking for bakcwards meanings comes up from time to time. Some of these look fairly close (I like the planes) some are reall streches.

09-09-04, 04:45 AM Yah I have a bad tendecy to not be creative coming up with names and taking sillythings and saying them backwards and calling them names...

Thelanis... Sinaleht... Well, sin alet could mean "grave instrument" or "tomb instrument" in Turkish (I kid you not).
