Also, I am thinking about including firearms into my Eberron - not as common elements, but rather as ancient weapons of war that are no longer created for one reason or another or as a early invention during the Last War that lost favor when it was deemed to unstable for mass war (you know, all those fire-slinging wizards and the such). I'm still considering these ideas though. Perhaps the reason that firearms are so rare isn't because they are inferior or difficult to make. Perhaps true sulfur is a rarity on Eberron. I know what some of you are thinking - but what about the Demon Wastes? Well, perhaps the sulfur from the Demon Waste is tainted somehow - maybe due to the great evil imprisoned in the Dragon Below? Tainted Sulfur (known more commonly as Demon's Salt) might even make the firearm more powerful, but with a 50% chance of it exploding (doing full damage to the wielder). That alone would make it less than useful to most, but when you consider the difficulty and danger involved in trying to mine (or whatever you do to get Sulfur) Demon's Salt...wow - is it even worth it? Not during the Last War it wasn't and therefore, it never caught on. Hmm, I might just use this after all.... Peterson |
