| Freedon_Nadd05-30-06, 02:23 PM | Was wondering if anyone else has run this adventure in the Eberron setting yet? If you're a player and haven't played through (or read) the book yet, please quit reading this post as I ask questions that will guranteedly ruin the adventure for you! You've been warned! ;) Now, for everyone else. ;) I ask, because I'm going to for some of my players and I'm having problems "translating" some of the story-concepts from base "Greyhawk" to "Eberron". Like in the case of Demogorgon, what would be a good deity in Eberron that has 2 heads and each head has "independent" thought? I know a lot of peeps suggest Vol, but Vol wouldn't have the duality conflict within her that Demogorgon does have. Technically I could probably leave it Demogorgon, as it's a powerful demonic lord, but that's not as "Eberrony" as I'd like to keep Eberron. I have figured that "Dydd" would end up being an Elf from the island of Aernal as they have the most experience (aside the Drow of Xen'Drik) combating (sp) dragons. Perhaps one of the elves that lived on the island before the Valenar elves expanded from Aernal and became their own lot? As for the "heir of Dydd" plot-hook, it could easily be an elf or 1/2-elf from Khorvaire as family may be important to them, it's not as all-important to them as it is the Valenar and Aernal elves (who can quote their lineage all the way back to the escape from Xen'Drik). I have plans on using the Mournlands for several key sites of hard to get information. Not sure if I should have some of it in the hands of the LoB or not, still debating whether he would fit into this particular supplement easily (I'm sure I could -make- him fit... but would it fit comfortably with the SL to say "LoB has this" in my DM notes). I kinda like the fallen deity being locked away because he scared the other gods by claiming what he did. Like Sharn has a manifest zone to the Plane of the Sky, and the island of Aernal has a manifest zone to Irian, I'm still debating where to put a "manifest zone" to the plane of Pandemonium. Maybe it'll be a chaotic happenstance and appears for a night here, 2 there, not at all for a month or 3, then is in one place for several weeks... etc. Does this sound like a good idea for it? I have a large number of ideas, but would like to hear some of your all input on this - as I know this place is a plethora of good ideas! |

I'd personally just make him one of the imprisoned Rakshasas, who needs the Heart of Ashardalon to break free of his prison. If you like the dual-headed idea and a touch of irony, think about this...maybe the rakshasa is the one imprisoned under flamekeep, and the slaad working AGAINST the whole thing is unwittingly following the voice of the Silver Flame (the whole 'whisper of the dark flame' turned on its ear.) That would certainly make for confusion among the rakshasa's followers, if the Flame can be confused for the voice of their lord! I would personally make Dydd an ancient Shifter Moonsinger, one of the great heroes of the Shifter religion...and perhaps one of the great reasons why they resist outside conversion so much is her example and sacrifice. As for descendents...Shifters are pretty flexible. Make it even more confusing if Dydd was actually a changeling (and nobody knew)...one of her descendents could be of literally ANY race. (The Mror dwarf blinks and says,"What do you mean, I'm the blood descendent of some ancient Elven druidess?!?!?!?) As for the metaplot, you could easily make the 'fallen god' a Titan driven mad by exposure to the machinations of the daelkyr, who wanted to start corrupting souls as a prelude to invasion...nothing about his stats has to change. As for links to Eberron's current stage, what if the preincarnate souls which 'lost' their chance at life, but escaped Ashardalon were seized upon by the Creation forges...and became warforged? Perhaps it was the production of warforged, ripping these souls from their intended courses, that allowed the Dragon access to the Bastion...and only now, with the Forges silent, are people noticing the 'soulless' being born...the Last War hid the fact that the Dragon was feasting away at the heart of creation all these years...and the Creation Forges were interfering with Ashardalon's supping at the Font, so he arranged the catastrophe of souls that mere mortals call the Mourning simply so he could eat his preincarnate souls without interference... ===Aelryinth |
