| Thanqol08-15-06, 07:54 AM | You can probably tell I've been watching That Show :D But it all fits! Think about it: Evil Cylon (Warforged) take on human form (Changelings are actually a strain of Warforged! Dun dun dun!) and infiltrated the weapons development buildings (Cannith Enclaves) and launched a brutal, nuclear (magical) attack on the Five Nations. The only survivors were those in the famous Mobile Fortresses - key of which is Argonth - and assorted other flying craft/houses that escaped places like Sharn. Now they cut their way through the mists of the Mournland that covers almost all of Khorvaire, 50,000 refugees, looking for a home (Q'barra) :D So, what do you think? A campaign dragging on, set within Argonth - capturing Changeling infiltrators, battling Warforged Stormships, ect, that try to destroy Argonth before it escapes to Q'barra and (relative) safety? What do you think - stupid idea for a campaign, but possibly worth a laugh with a group of sci-fi nerds, or an actual vieable campaign? Naturally we'll end up with an insane wizard with memories of a changeling lover, a fighter specialized in riding a flying carpet, a beleagured Morgrave teacher who has been elected temporary leader of the Brelish parliment because the kings are dead... :D |
| dragonfriend08-15-06, 08:12 AM | good!! but no flying carpet...please and the home is Sarlona, not Q'barra. |
| Thanqol08-15-06, 08:26 AM | good!! but no flying carpet...please and the home is Sarlona, not Q'barra. Awwww :weep: I was considering that (perhaps with Q'barra as Kobol), but I severely doubted Argonth's capacity to fly over oceans. |
| Tom McCarthy08-15-06, 08:46 AM | I think you might be being a touch too literal in your interpretation. You could have a heck of a campaign where: i) Khyber cults take over the Marches and infiltrate House Tharashk ii) This positions them to sabotage the Twelve at the moment that... iii) the Marches, Droamm, the Demon Wastes, Karrnath (as a puppet of the Emerald Claw), the Lord of Blades and the Lhazaar Principalities (ruled by the Emerald Claw/Vol) strike against the other nations. When Breland, Aundair, and Thrane fall, you are left with tiny pockets of resistance in the Mror Holds, Eldeen Reaches, Q'Barra, and perhaps Zilargo. Battlestation Argonth remains Galifar's last hope, leading a ragtag fleet of airships and trying to avoid continuous attacks by the monstrous attackers. You still get infiltrating changelings, warforged, and throw in monsters. You can have crazy politics, strange successions, a powerful arcanist with a hallucinatory voice/figure in his head (but make it a quori spirit, not a warforged). You can have desparate searches for survivors and supplies, and desperate flight from powerful foes (the rajahs are loose! the daelkyr are loose! Humans only survive because the daelkyr and rajahs are at cross purposes). And their futile search for safety (the dragons or shulasskar who can drive back the daelkyr and rajahs? the perfect utopia of Sarlona? the land of Aerenal? or even just Valenar?). |
| Kreistor108-15-06, 10:19 AM | Personally, I wouldn't start with everything gets released. It's just too much to deal with at once. If you're modelling a show, then start by modelling that show, so yeah, start with the Warforged chasing the ragtag fleet. Release the other problems one at a time, complicating the situation slowly. This also stays in line with the charaters as they level up. To model the Vipers, my Argonth has Hippogriff cavalry. That's a more interesting way to achieve that end. The attackers could use other flyers. One thing you need to do is invent something the attackers could use to damage the ship. Right now there's not much in anyone's inventory that could hole a hull. Even Fireball does 1/2 damage then subtract 10 hardness. That's not going to do a serious number on a battleship. |
| dragonfriend08-15-06, 01:33 PM | the others could use a new type of flying warforged, less intelligent but with higher power. The first step of the voyage could be Zilargo, where the last gnomes could give the station the power to flying above the water... |
| Thanqol08-16-06, 02:29 AM | I'm thinking against releasing the Daelkyr and the Rajah's and Whatever-Other-Baddies-We-Can-Find all at once. It's better to have a centralized opponent, in my opinion. The Quori could be a very good idea though (perhaps in conjunction with the Warforged, perhaps revealing that they are the masterminds behind this all [Warforged design was originally Quori, if we're taking the suggestion from SoX]). Perhaps the other power groups could become threats in time, but it's nicer to have someone to fight against rather than opening the doors of Xoriat all at once. Hmm, for actually damaging Argonth we'd need either the ever-broken Orb of Force ("Orb of Force it! Nothing's immune to that!"), siege weapons, straight higher-level spells, simply more fireballs, or targeting specific sections (don't blow it all apart, take out gunnery emplacements ect). Boarding parties are also good. Zilargo might be a good target, but perhaps they could guide towards another region with the recources needed to get a real long-term overseas voyage ready ^^ |
| Tom McCarthy08-16-06, 08:59 AM | I even considered the suggestion that to do the show, you might want a world other than Eberron. You want warforged and changelings (or maybe just undead that have both monstrosities and those who can pass for human). You want a flying or sailing fleet of refugees and enough empty space that they can hide or be found as the plot dictates. But if you're willing to put warforged, changelings, and elemental vessels elsewhere, you can create your own world with the other plot elements you want (Turning virtually the whole continent into a Mournland is one way to do that, of course). |
