| Sythion08-28-06, 03:33 AM | So I'm reading through A Game of Thrones again, and it's made me want to create an adventure based on political manuevering within court. Of course, a tournament would be important as well! In Eberron, chivalry and knighthood aren't described too much, so I'm not sure exactly where this would fit. The Royal court of Aundair seems like it could work, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or suggestions. |

I know this is an Eberron forum but you should check out the Sword & Sorcery book "A Game of Thrones." It does a wonderful job of capturing the feel of the novels. I plan on running an Eberron campaign first to get the hang of 3.5 rules and then I'll probably try A Game of Thrones next. Then depending on what everyone enjoyed the most I'll run that for my third campaign. |

You have various warlords vying for power, and at the center of it all is Kaius and his dirty secret, along with the few people who know the truth. Besides that, Karrnath's semi-secret undead armies are a point of contention with other nations, the Blood of Vol hasn't yet been stamped out, the Order of the Emerald Claw is a constant threat and may have spies anywhere, and Kaius's heir exchange program has royalty from Breland and Aundair (I think?) in Kaius' court. Offhand, I would set the PCs up as members of a secret police force working directly for Regent Moranna trying to ferret out traitors and spies in the court, then let them stumble upon a secret to dangerous for them to live with, and frame them as foreign agents or the like. I'd tie the Emerald Claw in somewhere... if your PCs haven't read Five Nations, then check out the Karrnath section's description of 'Operation Leviathan'. |
