The description of the eternal wand says that anyone who can cast "arcane" spells can use them. Under that logic since an artificer's magic is neither arcane or divine, does this mean that they can not use these without a use magic device roll?

Tp my knowledge, Artificers can't use any magic item without a Use Magic Device roll. Checking. Yep, Dragon 316, "An artificer can never use a spell trigger or spell completion item because the spell appears on his augmentation list. For example, an artificer must still employ the Use Magic Device skill to use a wand of light evn tough light appears on his augmentation list."

Seems to me that artificers are just like rogues, rather than wizards when using magic devices. Even if they've made their very own wand of fireballs by mimicing spells with the Use Magic Device skill, they still have to make a check in order to use it, whereas a wizard who knows fireball could simply activate it at will.

Artificers aren't magicians, they're clever craftsmen with intimate knowledge of the workings of magic.

Plus, the Eternal Wands were, originally, made near the end of the Last War to be used by Magewrights, who can cast arcane spells but did not have offensive spells on thier spell lists...
