Bloodstone blade [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-26-07, 02:19 AM I'm trying to figure out how many times the Bloodstone Blade from PGtE can be used for Vampiric Touch before it needs to have the spell recast.
OPTION 1
If I go by the initial description "allowing that spell to be delivered by the blade repeatedly without recharging" I'm left with the impression that everytime the weapon hits it can deliver a Vampiric Touch spell.
OPTION 2
However, if I go by the effect header "No more than one such spell can be held by a bloodstone blade at any time, and no spell other than vampiric touch can be stored within the weapon" I then consider this blade to simply be have the spell storing enchantment on it limited to a single spell which has to then be restored after every use.

Also looking at the price, I would believe that option 2 is more reasonable.

Has anyone else run up against this item? If so how are you treating the Vampire Touch enchantment.

04-26-07, 10:40 PM i too ran into that dilema, but fortunately the players character died & the blade was lost, so i didnt have to decide

not sure how id go w/ this one, the description contradicts itself

04-30-07, 09:22 AM An errata would be really nice, however I found a "bloodstone" description in the Magic Item Compendium which fits with option 2.

Good enough for me.
