i would like to put bloodwings on to a PC. problem is i have no idea where to find the stats or if they even exist yet. they seem pretty neat but i could some help on this one please.
oh, for those of u who don't read the books, bloodwings are a symbiote bonded to a character enabling him/her the power of flight.

Well, unless there are other details, I'd probably treat them as a magic item granting flight...

I mean, can they run away? Are they sentient? Do they have any negative side effects?

Wouldn't this go in the Class, Race and Monsters board?

they are a sentient being. they are permently bonded to a character so i suppose they can't run away. they aren't just an item granting flight, the bloodwings are an extention of oneself. u feel what it feels. hmm.. when dormant they appear to be nothing more than an ordinary cloak but "awake" they are huge batlike wings. i think that covers it.

If they don't have any other effects (negative or otherwise) I'd treat them as a magic item that grants flight. The only real differences I see is that they might need to make saving throws on occasion (or might not, depending on how you rule), they'd be pretty immune to anti-magic areas/mord. disjunction/dispel magic, and it sounds like you can't really take them off. Are your PCs buying them, or gaining them in another means? Do they take a slot (for instance, the cloak slot), or no?

I'm fairly sure I'd stat them out as a magic item that gives you flight, and then just change the flavor a bit. You can remove them, mord's disjunction etc. affect them, and they do take a slot.

Unfortunately, there aren't any stats yet for the Bloodwings. I imagine it wouldn't be hard to do.

And, they are not magical items. They are indeed symbionts, and thus follow all the rules associated with symbionts.
