Because gods in Eberron aren't there to inform people when they are good and when they are evil it is left to people to judge themselves, but because definitions of good and evil have a tendency to shift from from people to people and between different nations and religions people get confused about others and themselves. And furthermore because there are no absolute good and evil there is nothing to compare yourself against. as a purely game mechanics isssue i suggest that detect good and evil would have 20% change to completly misread peoples alignment and to further confuse the issue paladins detect evil would always read the priests of his faith as good |
