mahalajr 06-06-04, 08:23 PM	I still haven't got the book yet; I guess the US release date is the 11th. But, anyway, I have an idea for a character (who hasn't, righ!!). He will be a bounty hunter (I have the stats for three different bounty hunter classes, not PRCs, from the internet) who brings war criminals to justice. I originally wanted it to be a human, or at least someone who fought in that war since it ended very recently. Now the more I think about it, the idea of a warforged bounty hunter can't get out of my head. He could even be "programmed" to bring war criminals to justice. What do the rest of you think? Ideas, suggestions. . .
Kesh 06-06-04, 09:03 PM	Bounty hunting is probably going to be a major profession at the time the CSB starts things. There are likely still people on the run for war crimes, while others want to snag traitors, spies or revolutionaries. Plus, the everyday criminals, smugglers and dealers in illicit goods. Depending on who you work for and the environment you work in, the best bet is likely a ranger, or the Urban Ranger variant from Unearthed Arcana. However, a Warforged is going to have a tough time of it: it's kinda hard to "blend in" when trying to get information out of people in a bar. ;)
N'wah 06-06-04, 09:15 PM	Oh come on- a warforged not fit in? Just hive him a derby hat, a pipe, and an english accent- viola! It's WattsoTron! :D Just use the cash you aren't spending on armor for a little extra garnish around town. Money makes people forget (and remember) all sorts of things.
DSPaul 06-06-04, 09:55 PM	I think House Tharashk has somethink of a monopoly on bounty hunting -- if your character's a freelance, they may not appreciate the competition....
mahalajr 06-06-04, 10:02 PM	In response to Kesh: I don't want my BH to "blend in." I want him to have a reputation that precedes him. If you've ever read C.L. Werner's book based in the Warhammer world, it's kinda like his character Brunner. Basically, I want my character to instill fear in his quarry, causing them to make a mistake, and then -"gotcha!!" I do like the idea of a ranger, though and have considered that possiblity. Plus, if I play a warforged he can make humans his favored enemy without me feeling like I'm playing an evil character. He'll of course be neutral. As for N'wah: LOL on the Watson-esque warforged. I like it, but. . . no.

MavrickWeirdo 06-06-04, 10:17 PM	House Tharashk (Half-Orcs & Humans) has the Mark of the Finder. They work across Khorvaire as prospectors and bounty hunters. They run "The Finders Guild" which uses both marked and unmarked bounty hunters.
mahalajr 06-06-04, 10:58 PM	Is there a bounty hunter prc in the ECS? If not, I wonder if they'll make one soon that's more fitting to the world. I know there was the Bloodhound prc for the Masters of the Wild handbook and I've seen the Bounty Hunter prc in the Quintessential Fighter by Mongoose Publishers, but I think that's it from official published material. I know there's more on the internet. Anyway, this Mark of the Finder sounds intriguing. I will have to learn more. Thanks!
Alathayn 06-07-04, 03:33 AM	Remember that warforged can't get dragonmarks. Concerning a Bounty Hunter PRC, well, the inquisitive might fit, but that one's more like a detective.

Hanuman47 06-07-04, 01:22 PM	For lots of info that would be helpful for bounty hunting (classes, equipment, magic), you may want to check out Penumbra's Crime and Punishment, written by one Keith Baker - well written and should fit in well with Eberron (the seeds of many ideas that made it into the setting can be found in this book).

A Warforged Ranger with a crossbow and a backpack of flying. You could name him Robert (Bob) Offett.:rolleyes:
fourmyle 06-07-04, 09:48 PM	If the Justicar doesn't do it for you as a good PrC for your bounty hunter, maybe the Master Inquisitor that's in the CSB. Easier to get there from Rogue, but an Urban Ranger/Rogue/Master Inquisitor would rock pretty hard, I think...especially if you trick him out with a Mark of Finding.
mahalajr 06-07-04, 10:18 PM	Some bounty hunter classes could be found at community3e.com. Check out their list of classes and prestige classes. Some are cool, some are wacko; it's all about what suits you. As for names, if I go with a human bounty hunter he is going to be a rather physically imposing figure with a build like a Viking barbarian named Wulfstan Sharpe. If I go with a warforged Wulfstan Sharpe just doesn't sound as menacing.
