| Zagumus05-29-05, 01:02 AM | I am just about to finish teh end of my first long term Eberron Campaign (The player will probably make 17th level or so). I want to start a new campaign after this one but I want to amazing stuff that was done by teh group we are playing now to be the catalyst for the next game. So let me start with a quick summary. We played the Forgotten Forge, Shadows of the Last War, Whispers of the Vampires Blade and Grasp of the Emerald Claw. The rest of the campaign has centered around the group mysterious (Silver dragon) patron that is feeding them bits of the Dragon Prophecy and sending them to interfere with it (Last week I reviled that someone or something is raising the Tarresque and planes to sick it on Sharn). That is were this campaign is going to end, the Daerkly will open a portal to the sight where the Tarresque attacks and the player will defeat the Tarresque and enter the realm of madness to shut the portal. The group will be lost in the Xoriat and won't be able to return but they will have saved the world. What I am thinking right now is the new group is hired to help clean up after the mess left by the other party and they stumble on to a murder scene that is truely horrific, everyone suspects that it is an abomination that was left behind but the player will learn it true nature (?). The (?) would probably drive the rest of the campaign until the below happeneds. Once the group is a high level (about 15th) one of the old character will show up on the scene, total crazy (I love crazy NPCs), and the group will have to hurry to find out how he escaped Xoriat and if anything else came back with him. Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, flames, anything except spelling corrections (I hate them :(), please... |

At the very least, the length of time should be long enough that the Tarrasque has gone back into hibernation--I don't remember how long that is, though. That way, the new first-level characters wouldn't have to deal with a Tarrasque. Also, that would give you some "time" to make some changes to the world to renew the mystery AND learn some of the secrets about the current campaign. For example, the new group might already know all about the mysterious silver dragon patron and everything that it did to manipulate the previous group. But the dragon itself has vanished, leaving behind its journals. Or you could have hundreds of years pass. Civilization is still rebuilding from the Tarrasque, and some of the "iconic" Eberron things have changed. Where is the Tarrasque going to appear? It will probably destroy quite a bit of the terrain, cities, and populace within a few hundred miles of that spot. Another idea is to change the flavor of the game. Your current campaign sounds like a standard adventure game. Make the next one more desolate. Have one of Eberron's planes spill open and infect the whole world. Have the Valenar elves conquer half of Karn. I don't know--something radical. Just a thought. :P |

Maybe they are contacted by a less tyranical Emerald Claw leader or some other previous enemy group. Kinda turn the world upside down in that the previous enemy's are not completely evil and that they do have some good results from their plans. Maybe the not so evil leader counted on the original party disrupting the more powerful and more evil division of the organization to further his own goals. Possibly they will end up discovering that the results of the first groups efforts to save the world worked, but only temporarily; or it worked, but ended up leaking some other danger out in the process. |
