My game is now about 10th level and here is a quick list of groups that the party has battled (sometimes the party didn't know who they were fighting) The Blood of Vol/Emerald Claw Monks of the Mockery The Chamber Two Dragonmarked Houses Daask Boromar Clan Lords of Dust Lord of Blades Agents of at least one nation Church of the Silver Flame Darguun Droaam While there is an overall plot and one primary BBEG, they have come across many different challenges and groups. Is this too unfocused? Should I narrow the game to have them fighting just one or two groups? |

I'd only say to be careful about how much confusion the players will suffer. You can wind up causing them information overload and overwhelming them with too many false leads and agendas. So long as each group's involvement is revealed at some point, no worries. Basically, at some point, they have to understand that there is a single villain behind all of this, and that they are working against a unified force that is manipulating all these groups; otherwise, they'll never see the really big tree at the middle because there's a forest in the way. |
