GreatOne 01-07-07, 06:26 PM	Hi all. I will be running an Eberron game soon and I was wondering if I could get some help from you folks. Anyways the main plot is to find pieces of a gate key to Dal Quor and destory them and the gateway. The main bad guy will of course be the Quori seeing as they want the pieces too so they can open the gate and rule the world blah blah blah...... I will have them go after the destiny arms once they find a piece of the key. I was going to have the party meet up in GreyWall as strangers forced to fight together in order to survive a mugging. The only problem is what will be the muggers? I was thinking of Gnolls followed up by some ogres and maybe a giant or two. All help and advice is welcomed.
lordalm 01-07-07, 06:32 PM	Well the party isn't first level is it? Are you going to use psionics? Because the Dreaming Dark use as do thier agents the Inspired. Reidiar also has a strong military which you might have your pcs run afoul of if they start collecting the keys.
GreatOne 01-07-07, 08:19 PM	Yes psionics will be a major focus in the game. The party is at 6th lvl and I know that they can handle creatures of at least cr 8. I like that idea of the Redrian Army getting involved in the search with Inspired generals leading them. Maybe I can have a full scale war against Khorvaire saying that the inhabitants of Khorvaire are withholding the keys for no appereant reason.

It would be interesting but it cuts straight against the grain from a stylistic standpoint. Reidra and the Dreaming Dark are both massively subtle in virtually all that they do. A full on invasion would be a massive epic scale event and only appropriate in the most dire of circumstances and when all other methods of subversion have failed (for example if one of the current rulers managed to reestablish the Empire of Galifar but even then probably not).
DargonSwift 01-08-07, 03:58 AM	I agree, the Dreaming Dark are more subtle than waging a full scale war. However, they are not beyond fomenting a war between two other factions. I might suggest using a Ogre Mage warlord in Droaam who is being advised by a Dreaming Dark agent. Perhaps the DD have gained some psionic influence over the warlord and his forces. If you want to incite a small-scale war, have one instigated between this warlord and Breland. Perhaps a conflict of this nature serves the DD's purposes, allowing them access to areas in Breland where they suspect the keys are located. Perhaps these keys are located near areas normally heavily guarded by Brelish troops, and the only way to gain access to have the troops redeployed to defend its borders. I would ask why this portal or its "keys" are in Khorvaire at all? Xen'drik would be the logical choice. However, a site in Khorvaire could have been backup portal engineered to bring in reserve troops in the event their main portals were compromised.

The quori's current policy seems to be to subtle subversion to achieve their goals. But that doesn't mean they don't plan to have a massive invasion once they have the means to. Or it could be that they are starting to become desperate because the first hints of the age turning have happened.

The only thing preventing a full scale war with the Quori is their inability to bridge Dol Quor and Eberron.
