Alright. Long story short: I need some advice. Last night my gaming group ended the session making the decision to head into the mournlands. I'm not sure what to put them up against.

Short story made long: I just finished running the group through the Whispers of the Vampire Blade. During the Lightning Rail attack, the Warforged kidnapped a NPC fighter I had provided for the group seeing as how there was only two players. So after the sword was recovered, but before heading back to Sharn to turn it in, the group decides that they are going to go get their friend.

Now, it's assumed that the warforged are taking Arik (the kidnappee) back to the Lord of Blades to (at the very least) question him about the Schema that the group recovered for House Cannith (The group has been run through FF, QotBE, SotLW and now WotVB). The players and characters beleive all the rumor's about the Lord of Blades being an "Evil Warforged Dictator bent of destroying all the Fleshies", even the the group (NPC) cleric is a LG Warforged with the LoB as his patron. Steel (the cleric), insists that the LoB is a just and benevolent leader that is feared due to the fact that people don't understand warforged (But steel was found by the party in negative hit points underneath Sharn, supposedly put that way by Steels former group.)

I'm having the LoB be interested in the Schema and the Pattern that were int he prior adventures because it's his beleif that they are related to the artifacts found in Xen-drik that allowed House Cannith to first produce a Creation Forge (or possible are the artifacts themselves).

The one problem I've always had with warforged is that they are looked at as a race, but as a race they can't pro-create by themselves. It's my idea that the Pattern and the Schema will allow such capabilities. I'm not sure how it will work. . . but I seriously doubt it would be something as messy as sex. Cannith wants to get the artifacts to keep the Warforged society in line. The Lord of Blades, whether good or evil, wants the artifacts to be able to un-cripple his people.

Hmm . . . looks like i've rambled a bit. But, anyway . . I need some idea's on how to proceed. So far for my Eberron camapign I've just run the published adventures. I realyl have no problem 'winging' it, but any suggestions able to be provided to flesh out my planning would be helpful.

The current group (All level 6) consists of

Monk, From aundair, just picked up the Mark of Passage last night while leveling.
Warden Druid with a jaguar animal companion.
Rogue/Ranger with the Lesser Mark of Passage (just upgraded last night)
And the NPC Cleric.

Any idea's?

If you're talking on a racial level, the schema could provide a blueprint to the construction of the creation forges used to create the warforged. That might also explain why house Cannith is so interested in it.

I like your idea . . .and it probably does have that property . . . but I was thinking more along the lines thatthe pattern contains information on providing individual warforged the ability to procreate without needing the Creation Forge.

Not sure I like the idea of WF being able to procreate on their own, without forges. It just doesn't feel right to me.

I think that the WF need to be created in the forges, but the creation schema might hold secrets for creating new varieties of warforged -- creative artificers could, with the schema, start to develop new strains. Think about ideas like:

1. Avatar Warforged -- basically medium-sized warforged, but with wings, and a fly speed of 60.

2. Warforged Engines. Living seige engines that can load and aim and fire themselves.

I'm sure there are other ideas out there. What gets created would have a lot to do with who it is that's doing the adaptations of the schema.

Excellent. Sounds like you have the right motivation to go on this quest.

I don't think that warforged should be reproducing in the same manner as humans do either. But the knowledge to build them, one at a time like any other construct, has some potential.

But as I've said to others, the true purpose of the schema could be entirely different. All that is required for this adventure is for the LoB to think that is what it is for. In reality, it might have nothing to do with it...maybe its just a piece of olds news. Then the question becomes: who lied to the Lord of Blades?
