I am running a game with a Warforged fighter, gnome bard, elf druid, halfling rogue, and a shifter ranger. They are just ripping through the encounters very easily. The are now level 4 and near the beginning of the Vampire's Blade. I increased the hit die on the mobs, but the issue seems to be the warforged. With the adamantine body feat he is very hard to hit and is immune to so many things. Any ideas on balancing this out?

Rust monsters? Wizards with rusting grasp spells?

Use some grenadiers. His damage reduction wont effect Alchemist's Fire, Alchemist's Spark, Frost, Acid Flasks, Acidic Fire, etc. If you want to slow down something that your weapons don't effect chuck a bomb at it. In addiction it'll kneecap his high AC since grenade weapons attack touch AC.

That'll surprise your 'forged.

Yup, that particular feat is retardedly powerful at low levels, and it sucks you gotta plan specifically around that character just to keep the game suitably challenging. As stated, though, magic and energy damage cut right through that adamantine, and everyone hates swarms & Tanglefoot Bags.

I'll definately chime in and agree with the others. Acid and Alchemist's Fire/Frost/Spark are good calls, as are tanglefoot bags. Spellcasters who use touch and ranged touch spells are too. Swarms are useful enough, but being warforged makes you immune to being nauseated, which is one of the big advantages swarms have. Alternatively, simply slide an adamantine weapon into a BBEG's hands sometime, either removing equivalent value or simply accepting it (After all, with a five man party you'll probably need to add some treasure anyhow). Adamantine Arrows are also remarkably cheap, not very re-usable, and very, very effective against Warforged.

I'm not advocating this but... Destrochans. If doing a Khyber shard run these aberrant beasties sonic blast is identically as devastating as the rust monster. Its especially bad as they are clever and have blindsight. Just make sure you have a good reason for putting it in outside of revenge on the warforged. I still question my motive on this one.

I notice your party has no dedicated healer. A bard and a druid can handle the healing somewhat, but for a WF who's going to be taking half from healing, if he gets hit hard, he's snookered.

An enemy artificer doing Inflict damage to warforged, incorporeal foes going for ability damage/drain, druids using repel wood/repel metal, or just a caster throwing around Heat Metal should make his day annoying.

Also, if your WF has adamantite body, he's going to be heavy. Put him on a boat, and either capsize it or have someone bullrush him off of it/imp grapple and drag him off. He'll sink like a rock. Sure, he doesn't have to breathe, but he won't be in the fight much longer.

Another thought is to just return the favor; throw a squad of Warforged under the Lord of Blades at them.

If this guy is a heavy fighter, then I suspect his Ref save sucks.

Web/Entangle fodder, says me. Tossing web on the PCs and then setting one edge on fire.

Also, do not overlook something as simple as "You can't see what you're hitting. Fog Cloud + Creatures with blindsight (I'm looking at you, Grimlocks).

Thanks for the responce guys. This is my first time DM'ing, I can't wait to add these things in. Hopefully it will make them think a bit.

Just keep in mind, don't punish the player for taking the feat; just throw normal crap his way as usual, but when they run into an intelligent enemy that is either prepared or tactically flexible, that's when his weaknesses should be exploited.

I've found a lot of the same issues with my campaign (FF, SotLW, FA and now WotVB), where the printed encounters are generally very easy. The warforged warblade makes a big difference there...

Big thing, though - his WILL saves are aweful... cause fear or a similar effect (command, hold, etc) will neutralize the WF without retailoring the encounters against him.

Be wary of cranking up the threats too much, also - for after few rounds of misses (by the tank) and hits (by the foe), and suddenly the WF is down and the rest of the group cannot handle the foe...

Well the nice part of just adding some grenades to mooks arsenals. Or introducing a dedicated grenadier is that its not punishing the Warforged, its not bending over backwards to screw the warforged. The those alchemical bombs are just as much a thread to everyone else. Touch ACs, splash damage, no saves.

They don't punish they equalize, everyone is equally vulnerable to them. However I do think that many people especially those in the last war would know that swinging a sword as certain Warforged is useless, and setting them on fire is a much better solution.

In fact that's my answer for anything low level that has damage reduction.
"Crap its a werewolf! Anyone have silver?"
"No but I got fire!"
