Darth_Divinitus 05-14-06, 03:54 PM	Okay I’ve never been the DM for a game before and I don’t know much about Eberron. But someone is looking for a DM for a Eberron campaign and hasn't been having much luck. So I was thinking about being the DM. But I could use some info/advise.
Raziel_Brokodar 05-14-06, 04:13 PM	Get ahold of a copy of the Eberron Campaign Setting, and maybe read some of the novels... and make sure to really understand the setting before you DM... and if you don't feel like starting your own adventure, try running the Forgotten Forge first. (damn I'm glad that we're finally getting some D&D on the go soon here too) Good Luck!

Bluebrush 05-14-06, 04:26 PM	Consider looking up info on wikipedia or reading this primer by our very own MarkB (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/m.blunden/dnd/eberron.htm), until you can get your hands on a campaign setting book.

(I found the primer I have, and can send it if you want)

Naudachu 05-15-06, 04:53 PM	Here's a thread with some DM advice: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=634206 The Sharn book has a very detailed city, but may be a bit overwhelming for the start of a campaign. Five Nations has some cities laid out, but nothing too in depth. Also, the DMG II has the fully detailed city of Saltmarsh, which you can plop in Eberron (probably Q'Barra or Shadow Marches).

If you're really concerned about having one of your creations squashed out of existence (I got lucky), you may want to check out that book, too.

If you're asking for details of the established NPC characters, all that you really need to worry about not changing are the rulers and other major players but not much lower than that. Some books give other NPCs, but they're pretty much samplers of "what a Sharn guard watch captain could be like" or similar. Eberron has no established NPC adventurers (a la Drizzt or Elminster), so that the PCs get to be the heroes of the setting. If you have a location, or situation and want to include an NPC of your own devising (say a noble who hires them, or a hidden villain), if there's a place, there's nothing stopping it. Eberron fluff seems to be a lot more about what there could be than what there is in these terms. Did that help answer your questions, and if not, could you be a touch more specific?

Is there anything that says who the ruler is for each nation? Basically, what do I say when I here: "Who's in charge here?"
