can a dinosaur be magebred? [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-17-04, 06:44 PM can you mage breed dinosaurs? it says that one house does most of the mage breeding and that said magebred animals are used for day to day stuff or mounts, but do you think they mage breed clawfoot mounts and the like? dinosaurs dont fall under the appendix for animals but they are "like" animals in ebberon so is it possible to magebreed them?

A player in my game told me he bought a magebred dino for his halfling and i said it wasnt an animal and we argued so if anyone could give me a good reason as to why dinos are magebred/or even animals at all then please enlighten me.

07-17-04, 07:05 PM Dinosaurs ARE animals, its listed right on thier types. A Glidewing for example is a Large Animal.

07-17-04, 07:10 PM I would say that one could certainly magebreed dinosaurs, but that it hasn't been done yet. The center of magebreeding, House Vadalis, is a long way from any dinosaurs. Most magebreeding so far has been focused on already domesticated animals.

So in short, I'd definitely allow it, but I wouldn't let a player just buy one; I'd make it part of a quest.

07-17-04, 07:25 PM House Vadalis is listed as having prominent operations in the Talenta Plains...So, yes, I'd say that there are probably a few programs out there for magebreeding dinosaurs, though they'd be fairly rare at the moment.

Sounds fair to me. Magebred dinosaurs are probably a bit of a niche market. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of cities had laws about deinonychi inside the walls, too...
