| nash_penguin10-29-04, 10:43 AM | Hi guys. Well, I'm trying to make a campaign for me and my friends, but I can't seem to get it to work! I go so many things jumbled in my mind. The first thing I thought of was getting the characters to go to Q'Barra, since one of them is a Lizardfolk, for an urjent meeting. They go to...to...and I got stumped! My brother made a fighter who really likes dragons, and his character basically LIVES by the dragon codes. So I was thinking of finding a dragonshard, and he uses it to power up his abilities. But his friend is one greedy little elf, and he'll take anything he sees. So I need to find some way to get a good quest...to kill the elf...JUST KIDDING. I need to find out how to make a good quest where the characters travel to Q'barra from Sharn. I was thinking of airship...but it's too expensive for them. Maybe NPC? I don't know... All I know is that you guys can help me! |
| P33KAJ3W10-29-04, 11:06 AM | The Lizardfolk recives a msg from a chiefton informing him that his Father is very ill and he needs to come hom imeditly and he has booked him passage on a private airship. This seems odd but if his fater is ill why would he not go??? Upon ariving he gets an uneasy feeling... After reaching crusing altatude (sp?) the Party is attacked and it is discovered that all of the Crew are Orc's in Disguise and they are led by a Giant that is a Wizard. It seams his family airloom (necklass) is some powerfull device. During the subsaquent fight an arrow shot at the party strikes the piolet of the ship and you start to plummet quickly. The Giant not beeing wise hurlys evocation spells at the PC's destroing parts of the ship. You can hnow put up a counter for rounds. After X rounds the ship will hit the ground. Before then the PC's need to stabalize the ship by reaching the controls and pulling up on the flight stick. This will not stop the decent but will allow the ship to crash... gently. Durring the fight have everyone make ballence checks (low check) or be thrown from the airship (have a few Orcs fall for suspence) The giant will be killed the party will have a wreaked and usless airship and you now have a lost party with a suposed magic item that may or may not be powerfull. Its a good start... I can keep going if you like... |
| jonthegm10-29-04, 11:31 AM | They get to Q'Barra... do some quest for the headmaster in the jungle... then they start to travel back to wherever they were going... Somehow, they tick off Rhashaak, and he wants something that they found... so the PC's are now being chased by the minions of the Half-Fiend Dragon. Someone offers to help them out if the PC's do them a favor (break into a Kundarak vault and *coff* recover something.) Of course, this only trades them enemies... or they could sell out to Kundarak, turning this guy in, hoping to get a reward... Plus... Lightning Rail battles with raiders with Greater Dispel (to stop the train, natch) are always fun... Sea battles with pirates from Lhahazar or the sahuagin menace... That should get you started... |
| JDubTrafficGod10-29-04, 12:44 PM | Made my PCs act as guards for a wagon train taking trade goods to towns that don't get a lightning train/airship with regular supplies. Could be a way for them to get there, get xp, and get money/goods. Would take longer, but you could have the request for them to be there not be quite as urgent. |
| nash_penguin10-29-04, 03:35 PM | Hmm...these ideas sound pretty good. I might tweak them a bit...and maybe put them together! I wonder if there are any other ideas out there... |
| BOK210-29-04, 06:40 PM | The players learn from a bard that a dragon has been spotted in Q'Barra, in the general area of the Lizardfolk-PC's Tribe. They also found out that the bard is a "reporter" for the korranberg chronicle and wants to hire them as guides and bodyguards when he goes to Q'Barra. This should hook the fighter since he likes dragons and would be curious to meet one, the Lizardfolk-PC would want to make sure that his tribe is safe and the elf might heve heard of the legends about dragons and their great treasure hoards. :) |
| aizhel1510-29-04, 07:06 PM | Just kill the elf(just kidding) just give him a curse for being too greedy. and only a dragon blood will be the cure. Just see, the next time he play he'll be more generous  |
| Azual10-29-04, 11:27 PM | this is once aagaina ntoher example of PC stupidity, if one of my players had said, "Hey, lets hitch a ride with a merchant as bosyguards!" i would have just, on the spot, made up an NPC and gon with that. but they nevwer think of that thats the problem, they think they must take to most obvoius routes all the time rather then rolepley and actually think what would a group of young, strong fighter s do int his situation sorry i had to rant. :D |
| nash_penguin11-01-04, 12:25 PM | The players were approached by a bard telling them that he saw a lizardfolk in their party, and learned about their deeds in Sharn. He says that he wants to go to Q'barra, because he wants to invistigate the dragon temple there. They also found out that the bard is a "reporter" for the korranberg chronicle and wants to hire them as guides and bodyguards when he goes to Q'Barra. The bard expected the PC's to have enough money for a train ride or an air ride, but they don't. So the PC's find a wagon heading to Q'barra, but there are dangers in the way, and the PC's and the bard are asked to be guards for the wagon train taking trade goods to towns. It takes longer, but they'll get there. Once they get to Q'Barra, the bard explains that the lizardfolk are usually hostile lately, and they need the PC to lead them. When they get to the PC's tribe, the chieftan captures the non-lizardfolks and puts them into cages. The PC has to explain that they are with him as adventuring friends. If the chieftan listens, he lets them go to travel around town. If he doesn't, the PC's need to prove themselves by adventuring to the temple and bringing back an artifact, but they must make sure the dragon doesn't find them. When the PC's come back with the artifact, the lizardfolk accepts them into the town. Now the bard wants to finish his invistigation in the temple. When they go back, though, the whole temple looks like it has changed, shifted, somehow. It had writings on the walls, and jewels popped out of certain places. The bard says that these jewels are dragonshards, and these are what he was here to invistigate. He explains the story of dragonshards, and the fighter PC should listen carefully. The elf takes one of the dragonshards out, and they see lava falling out of the slot. Then the other dragonshards pop out, lava falling off them. The PC's now have to escape from the temple. Once they get out, a young red dragon flies out of the volcano, and flies head fast at the PC's. Now the PC's have to dodge the lava, and fight the dragon. If the PC's make the deadly confrontation with the dragon, the lizardfolk tribe comes and uses their ice magic to freeze the lava (the PC's tribe is a water lizardfolk tribe, using more water magic over plant magic). As the lizardfolk PC explains what happened in the temple to the lizard folk, the fighter helps himself for some scales of the red dragon, and the bard beats up the elf. This is just a rough draft...what do you guys think? Is it too hard, or too messy? |
| nash_penguin11-11-04, 10:44 AM | Is there really no one who wants to help me polish this campaign? |
| Brianish11-11-04, 11:28 AM | "Campaigns" are for Faerun. In Eberron, just come up with a real *****torm of a problem, throw them into the middle of it, and see what happens. Go from there. |
| JDubTrafficGod11-11-04, 03:10 PM | Your whole campaign idea seems like it should work, you've only got one problem, what if the PCs decide to just run instead of going to the temple? Or what if they come back and decide to murder the Lizardfolk King (Lord) in his sleep? Your problem is the 'what if?'s. |
| nash_penguin11-13-04, 04:42 PM | Aye...what if's... They won't run away. I'll guarantee it. Well, thanks for the help guys. I'll just print it out, tweek it a bit again, then use it next week. Thanks again :D |
| Alexius D'Cannith11-13-04, 08:52 PM | but to really twist an eberron game you need to put them into crisises of concience and contradictions of sterotypes, Dont make the dragon Red, Make it Gold, Create times when they can be bailed out or helped but it will cost them, for instance, they need not complete the mission to the temple if they will help lizardfolk X murder the PC's father (king, Loremaster, Elder whatever) and put Lizard X in his place or they can take suicide mission to the temple, for instance start working on luring the greedy thief into a trap of concience where he will either have to give everything he owns away or the rest of the party will be executed/imprisoned whatever then on the eve of the execution when the thief is struggling with his concience and the party are staring death in the face (a bit of a build up is needed) someone springs the party out of trouble and grabs the thief because he needs them for a special job if the thief took the evil course that is, if he was charitable just have the stranger come along, feel free to have mind benders like a demon who wants to free the soul/body of a trapped paladin |

That's the stuff. If more people find out stuff like this, maybe we can send this campaign to Wizards and they get it published ;) Funny, how I wanted this just to be for 2nd to 3rd level players, but the elf player changed his PC to a Half dragon elf. And then we got one more half dragon joining and a dragonking jumping in. So, here I am, thinking of a way to make the campaign much more diffucult. And more diffucult I'm going to make it, for my brother, AKA the fighter, is going to help me. He is the one making the dragonkin, so I think he is not going to play with his fighter anymore. Many ways to make this campaign harder will surely add some suspense into the game. |
| RatFlail OF DOOM!!!!11-15-04, 09:12 PM | I never liked that elf.... |
| nash_penguin11-16-04, 09:29 PM | Funny, how I hate him too! I'm sure we'll get along just fine :P |
