| DMAC10-24-04, 10:57 PM | I came across the unfinished version of these characters I did a couple of months ago and decided to fix 'em up a bit and finish coloring them. The latest Monster Manual (III) had a drawing that made a bit more sense to me as far as their "half-doppelganger" features go, so they're a little less pretty than they were in the last version. http://www.yodaboys.com/changepencils.jpg Older version: http://www.yodaboys.com/changeline.jpg Color tomorrow (hopefully). ;) |
| Splendide10-24-04, 11:07 PM | You rule. |
| DMAC10-25-04, 12:28 AM | Not yet, but soon my army of fiendish weasels will be complete. |
| Splendide10-25-04, 12:35 AM | Please draw some for us! |
| Restless10-25-04, 01:13 AM | Goodness DMAC. You really ought to be drawing for WOTC. |
| Neofish10-25-04, 01:41 AM | Heck yeah, your Warforged Illustrations are top notch.... |
| Flack Jack10-25-04, 02:37 AM | Mmmmantastic. Your warforged sketches sure put mine to shame. On the flip side giving me inspiration to improve with. |
| Demonologist10-25-04, 03:06 AM | Wow man, these drawings are amazing. These are the first of yours I have seen but I will look for your others. I can draw pretty well, but nothing compared to you. So kudos. :D |
| polt10-25-04, 03:30 AM | That's awesome dude! Keep em commin. |
| DMAC10-25-04, 10:36 AM | Thanks. The rest of my Eberron artwork can be found here: http://www.coveworld.net/eberron/originalart.html as well as on my site at http://www.yodaboys.com |
| Kiirnodel10-25-04, 11:11 AM | Wow! I must compliment you!!! I never can manage to use color...I just...am so ... dark. I do have a few Eberron drawings posted, a Holy Liberator of the Silver Flame, Seren Barbarian and a Valenar Barbarian (check sig) Your warforged are just awesome! |
| zerotkatama10-25-04, 11:35 AM | Wooo! Love your work! Especially the Warforged, and ESPECIALLY the WF Paladin with the Tauric Belt! |
| Kid SixXx10-25-04, 12:11 PM | Thanks. The rest of my Eberron artwork can be found here: http://www.coveworld.net/eberron/originalart.html as well as on my site at http://www.yodaboys.com Your artwork sooooooo needs to be in Eberron modules and future sourcebooks. KEITH! HAVE THIS MAN SIGNED UP!!! |
| DMAC10-25-04, 04:03 PM | Wooo! Love your work! Especially the Warforged, and ESPECIALLY the WF Paladin with the Tauric Belt! Gotta go back and do something a little more "finished" with that one of these days... |
| CzarGarrett10-25-04, 06:43 PM | Quality stuff. |
| Bugscuttle10-25-04, 07:20 PM | I've checked all the links on this thread, and while I will try to avoid the deadly sin of envy, I will indulge myself in mere jealousy... Seriously, y'all rock! You ought to check out Bastion Press...their art leaves a great deal to be desired. Also, WOC ought to be falling all over themselves to harness your talents... :tiphat: |
| ieattrollsforbreakfast10-25-04, 07:25 PM | As with everything of yours I've seen, DMAC, I am impressed :) I love facial features of this changeling, they are noticeable but still decidedly alien...a nice touch. Can't wait to see it coloured :D |
| DMAC10-26-04, 02:20 AM | Coloring work-in-progress: http://www.yodaboys.com/changecolorwip.jpg I'll have to finish it up tomorrow. |
| Splendide10-26-04, 02:28 AM | You still rule, DMAC. Now I'm being picky here, but it seems to me that the `half-doppleganger' features would extend beyond their faces to a fair degree, so maybe that arm muscle tone and clearly knuckly hand aren't fully appropriate? Not that they're not the best damn changeling pictures I've seen, mind you! |
| Egres10-26-04, 07:42 AM | Impressive. |
| Serpentine10-26-04, 11:51 AM | I especially like the way you've drawn the clothes on both changelings. In the original inks, is that a slight Adam Hughes influence I see? |
| DMAC10-26-04, 11:56 AM | More than likely, among others. :) |
| Xeraph10-26-04, 12:54 PM | I think you have a great talent here DMAC, but you must know that already ofcourse. And I must say I really enjoyed the pictures on the yodaboys site. But I think, in my opinion, that they are "to" cartoon'ish for my general experience of how Eberron pictures should be displayed. :teach: I would like to see more natural proportions and less thick black lines. Dont get me wrong, your style of art is great! Could hardly compare my own work with yours. But as a critic, I have a few comments apart from the above. Hope its useful, not flaming here or anything, just, you know, so close to perfection and yet... Here are my opinions: Snow in Dusk http://www.yodaboys.com/snowindusk.html Very good work. Nothing special to comment... Just, great. WF Paladin http://www.yodaboys.com/wfpaladin.html Seems as if his arm is bending... the wrong way. Ouch. Like the visor idear though! Looking forward to color. WF Druid http://www.yodaboys.com/wfpaladin.html Just... less cartoon. But you idea with the branches... interesting. WF Monk http://www.yodaboys.com/wfmonkcolor.html Less red balls, less cartoon. But again, my opinion, and I still dig your work! Shifter Monk http://www.yodaboys.com/shiftermonkcolor.html Best work! Corn rolls! Great colors! "Less balls" :). Facial features make Heihachi seem like a wussy. :ayyyy!: WF Inquisitive http://www.yodaboys.com/warforgedinquisitive.jpg Just less cartoon! I think your "gold" may be to strong, the blue and emerald aswell. But the idea is great, the eyelens gives him a great "goldenage" feeling to it. "Mister Jones, you might want to reconsider that".. great. All in all... a picture like this: http://www.yodaboys.com/steampunkguy.html This type of style seems more Eberron'ish to me. And I just hope Il be seeing characters in this style in the future. Hope atleast this was helpful, and hopefully I havent stepped on any toes. Have a nice day. Your local... Xeraphim :cloud9: |
| Kiirnodel10-26-04, 01:37 PM | I agree that they seem a bit more...comic style, but I still think you're an absoutely awesome artist! Snow in Dusk is my favorite actually! No colors, just the way I draw, (check sig) I looked through your other stuff and like your sketch type stuff... I liked the changlings befoer colors was added....maybe I'm just a grey person... How do you color with photoshop out of curiosity? |
| DMAC10-26-04, 03:12 PM | Of course style is always a subjective thing but feedback is always appreciated. My toes are fine. ;) I would classify Steve Prescott's work (which I dig a great deal) as somewhat "cartoony" too and that's what I've been basing most of my Eberron stuff on. I'll maybe try a more "realistic" Warforged piece one of these days. I think my next piece will be a shifter ranger I've been playing... |
| Wren10-26-04, 03:55 PM | I'll tell you what... I just wish I could draw that good. :D If you ever have time mayhap you'd do a commission piece? |
| RadicalTaoist10-26-04, 10:18 PM | Niiiiiiiiiiiice. |
| aizhel1510-26-04, 10:26 PM | i love the older version of your work. there's a character in to it. but i also like the way you color your background. keep up the good work ;) |
| DarthCestual10-27-04, 12:49 AM | DMAC, I first ran across your work at theforce.net (where I have my own bit of SW art in the fancomics section) and have been a great admirer of your work ever since. I visit your site at least once a month to see what new pieces you've posted and I'm constantly impressed. I'm also among those who truly envy your color skills along with everything else. Just curious, have you always done every phase of your work yourself, or have you ever worked as a team with other artists? I'm talking like in a comic book type format where there's a penciler, inker, colorist, etc. And again, excellent work. |
| DMAC10-27-04, 01:10 AM | Thank you. I've never had a chance to work as part of a team on this sort of thing. The closest I've come is having some of my work colored by others. More coloring progress (by me): http://www.yodaboys.com/changecolor.jpg |
| nyysjan10-27-04, 03:39 AM | :OMG! nice i'd give my right foot to be able to draw like that but alas i couldn't draw a stick figure if my life depended on it plus there is not enough changeling art as it is. how about changeling in the process of changing shape      |
| Wren10-27-04, 05:58 AM | I've a friend who would like to see you draw up some Kalashtar. Mostly because he is playing one in my Eberron game at the moment. |
| MrFilthyIke10-27-04, 07:18 PM | I think DMAC said he hadn't done Kalastar because they hadn't inspired him. Am I wrong DMAC? Hoza bout some Kalashtar lovin'? :) |
| DwarvinJedi10-27-04, 07:19 PM | I just have to ask if you could draw me like an intellectual type shifter(does it remind you of a certain blue X-man), who will be my NPC who introduces my players to Eberron, when you have some free time And I love your work! |
| DMAC10-27-04, 08:09 PM | I think DMAC said he hadn't done Kalastar because they hadn't inspired him. Am I wrong DMAC? Hoza bout some Kalashtar lovin'? :) I just don't "get" the Kalashtar. Maybe the upcoming novels will change my opinion but they just seem so pigeon-holed to me. They seem like the Vulcans of the Eberron universe. They're there to be the "straight men", sort of emotionless intellectuals. The other thing with the Kalashtar (from an artistic point of view) is that they're just pretty humans. Since 90% of the people in fantasy art are already too pretty for their own good, that doesn't seem to leave much to set the Kalashtar apart. |
| Save-vs-DM10-28-04, 02:21 AM | DMAC - there is one facet that really excited me about kalashtar: most are prone to madness. I liked the idea of a psion teetering on the edge between sanity and madness. Outwardly he is calm, but he dressly strangly and sometimes just goes off the handle (I actually took a level of BARBARIAN to represent this). Does that help you "get them" at all? Cheers, save vs DM |
| Joni-san10-29-04, 05:17 PM | :bump: Once again: You ROCK! Allthough for some reason my mind is complaining that the head is just a bit too big. *Opens door and finds a mob with torches and pitchforks* *Starts running* *Funky 60's/70's music starts playing* *Joni-san Enters random door(s) as does mob and leaves trough random* *Several times* *And each time a new combination of entering and leaving occurs* *Is caught* *Demasked* It was Ed! The bitter old mundane! And I would have done it too if it wasn't for you meddling gamers and your dice! |
