Has anyone tried or thought of using Monte Cook's "Chaositech" book in an Eberron campaign? The idea of my artificer making or using implants, flesh grafts, biocrystals, and chaos-powered weapons seems pretty cool.
On the surface, it seems to fit hand in hand with Eberron's magic-technology feel.

But I don't have the Chaositech book so I don't know if it would be at all compatible with Eberron. If anyone has read it and has any comments on this idea, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Yes. Chaositech would make for a great Eberron game. Maybe not the more blatantly mechanical concepts, but the mutations and "biotech" woiuld be fantastic for a game centering around the Daelkyr and the strangeness of things powered by pure chaos would certainly be attractive to a Lord of Dust who would seek to harness it to destabalize an already shaky Khorvaire.

There is good stuff in that there book. I need to get it off my old tower and onto a hardcopy sometime soon.

Yes the book would make a good thing to bring into Eberron as things from the Dragon Below Cults and other nefarious organizations from across the world and below, as well as beyond.
The greater chaos entities are something of s stumbling block IMHO, but I am reworking much of it now anyways.
So "yes" (as I go off ranting) the book has a lot of value, so it is worth while. (Wish they would make another or a follow up one to fill in a lot of the gaps)

Can't be daelkyr lords or Rakshasa rajahs?

I've actually used Chaositech quite often in various Eberron games - both as one-shots and as a major plot arc (revolving around a Chaos Cube).

In my experience, it fits quite nicely, especially in Sharn. Not sure why this is, but in Sharn - it's like it was always a part of the book, according to my players.

Thanks for everyone's input. I purchased the .pdf this morning since you all were so enthusiatic about the idea, and I really like it so far. Now I just have to beg my DM to incorporate some Chaositech. (We are just starting an Eberron campaign so I'm hopeful).

It looks like a Chaositechnician may be a viable prestige class for an Artificer (of course, assuming one will put up with mutations and possible insanity). Especially since at certain levels you get +1 existing spells (here infusions). I think it may work. The 10,000 gp for a Chaositech lab is a little pricey though. Anyone tried this PrC?

Glad you like the book.

You know, I had forgotten all about this PrC, and now I'll have to look it back up once I get home. Might just be the thing to use in the next few sessions.

Oh, and no, I haven't use it yet. Might have luck trying on Monte's boards. I'll give you a hint on how to get there. Montecook with a www before it and a com after it. Don't forget to put in your "dots".

The one in the game I was a part of (not in Eberron though) burned out rather qwick, as did the next 2 until the DM made it into a NPC PrC cause the group was looseing members rather qwickly when augmentations were running rampant and all with the group.
In my Eberron game, new one, I plan on having one be the main villian in the majority of the adventures, he's replacing the main villians in SotLQ, WotVB and GotEC.
I cannot whait to see how he works out, he's gonna be a member of the EMerald Claw thus far in the planning stages.
