Did anybody else (who is not under NDA) get the preview copy of chapter eight?

The WotC Promotions department started sending out a "Sample Chapter" of the new Ebberon Book to distributers. So they could see how AWESOME the book is.

At least one distributer decided to post the 22 page chapter on their website. The place where I found it has since been closed at the request of WotC.

So I was wondering if I am the only person who is under no contractual obligation to WotC who has a copy of it.

Ah. So what does chapter 8 cover, anyway? :)

Stuff. Lots and lots of good stuff. But then that is what chapters 1-7 cover as well.

I am sure our European friends will be teasing us any day now with their releases, so we will all know soon enough!

Besides... I just can't bring myself to post the awful... awful truth.

I have that bootleg chapter eight and it is just really dissapointing. It talks about the true source of all arcane power on Eberron. WotC... I know that you are all about cute little creatures having strange powers, but this is just going TOO far. I mean come on!?!

Smurfs? Alchemically processed smurfs? How low can you sink?!?!

The great part about roleplaying games is that if you don't like it, you can pretend you didn't read it.

Maybe the magic making Smurfs will be cooler if you give them a couple levels of rogue.

Everything is cooler with a couple levels of rogue!

Organizations

It is all background, no mechanics.

Although there are hints to some cool stuff such as "fleshshaper symbionts" which are covered in another chapter (page 298 to be specific).

What it has a lot of is NPC's.

There are 28 organizations listed. (let the guessing begin.)

There are 30 "significant NCP"/Leaders mentioned (Name, Race, Class<es>, Levels, no stat blocks) with a short background.

The lowest level leader is a L4 Aristocrat
The highest level leader is a L20 Druid

Most have 9 or 10 class levels, but some are races which would change their CR

Each Organization also has a "generic" NPC member (full stat block, no background).

The lowest level generic NPC is a L3 Halfling Adept (CR2)
The highest level generic NPC is a Young Adult Silver Dragon(CR14)

Most are CR4 or CR5

I also want to mention the Artwork.

There are beautifully rendered color graphics on pratically every page.

I came across it when searching google for 'MageWright'.

The PDF has been pulled, but the html image of it may still be lingering. No pictures though.

The highest level leader is a L20 DruidThough, to be fair, it's a tree. (No really ...you'll just have to get the book to find out.)

Most of the organization leaders are somewhere around level 11, which provides insight into the power distribution. Of course, the baddies are much tougher...
