| StinkyNutz07-23-04, 01:05 PM | Created this to help me (and most of the times the players) figure out and flesh out what they want to make. IMHO it has helped to make the character actually take on a bit of life of their own even before the game really starts. Feel free to add to it and tell me what you think....thanks. General Name- Race- Age- Class- Future Prestige Class- Nation of Origin- Family Who is the characters family? Close to family (entire or even just one or a few members)? What city/town do/did they live in? Any surviving members of the family (cousin, brother etc)? How does family feel about character becoming adventurer? Does family have any political affiliations (cults, churches, dragonmarked houses etc)? Last War Did character fight in last war? If so for who? Where was character stationed? What rank did he achieve? How did character feel about last war? For or against (even if they fought in it)? Did any of the characters family/friends fight in the war? Any family members lost in the war or because of the war? How did family feel about war, and about the characters actions regarding the war? Specifics Any racisms/hatreds (national or race related)? And why? How does character feel about “other” races? And why? Religion and view of other religions? And why? Fears and secrets? Short and long term goals? Short role played story: Write a short role played story involving some portion (vitally important or not) that you feel will show a good example of who your character is, or what might define him. Examples, characters loss of a family member, destruction of their village, first actual battle, buying their first weapon, stealing their first pouch, casting their first spell, training with their old master, how they got “that” scar, beginning of their quest, why they joined/spurned the church, first pet, what they did in the last war, or what they did last Tuesday. |

| Harmon07-23-04, 02:08 PM | This is what I use for my Eberron game: -4d6 drop the lowest -1st level -max gold based on class equipment can be derived from any WotC book (players handbook, Arms and Armor handbook, Arms and Equipment, Expanded Psionics Handbook, DMG, or Eberron Campaign Setting) -Feats can come from any source as long as it is 3.5, or a source book that is printed by WotC -Prestige Classes can come from the same sources as the feat selection books, including the DMG, Complete Warrior, Complete Divine Handbook, and Expanded Psionics Handbook -If you have an idea for a character concept that needs tweaking, a prestige class idea or need to come up with a virtual feat to accomplish a goal, I'm sure we can work something out. -I would prefer no Chaotic Evil Characters, because I don't want characters trying to kill each other off, other then that, everything is left to the character to create. Background: -as for character background, what makes your character tick? -does he have a history with any of the other PC's? -how did he/she derive their alignment? -are they at odds with any of the guilds or houses? -what is your family situation -have a good description of your character for use through the game, detail is always nice. I also have my PC's as part of the background come up with one ally, enemy and contact. The purpose of this is to create a sense of belonging to the area in which the PC's begin(as in they actually know people from where they live other than the other PC's). I also use the enemies as future plot items. |
