I'd like to hear some ideas for charecters you all have come up with. Jhonny has a page of them already and they got me thinking on things I'd like.

One of mine:
Talenta Halfling Druid with a Fastieth animal companion. He focuses on mounted combat and has max scores in Ride and Handle animal aswell as Survival. He greatly favors the lance(Dragom) due to its great use on a mount.

Cade was a normal Talenta Halfling, but somthing was misssing. He was never happy with his life,so he was always bored in the Talenta plains. One day while wandering he was attacked by a [will define after CSB is released], but was saved by a Fastieth from the herd. When he returned to town he was acussed of stealing, and found guilty. Instead of facing his sentance he took his Fastieth friend and ran into the woods. He quickly learned the fastest way to move was to ride his new companion. He bonded with the Fasteith rather quickly, and through his animal companion he bonded with nature. He came to cherish nature very much. After a few problems on his travels he learned he need to make a weapon, so he grabed an appropriate sized tree branch and made a lance, a weapon his father(a Halfling Outrider) had taught him to make and use. This made a final bond with nature he could almost feel nature's power surge in him that day, and it pumped along with his heart.

He will be a variant Druid from UA losing wild shape and armor/sheild proficency, but gaining Monk AC bonus(including Wis),fast movement(as monk), Favored enemy(as ranger), swift tracker(as ranger), Track feat (as ranger). Will become a Halfling Outrider, through the memories of his father's experiances.

So what do you think? I open to suggestions. Now lets see some of yours.

I'm probably going to play (if I don't end up running the game) a warforged based on Dorfl, from Feet of Clay (see my sig) with a bit of "The Iron Giant" thrown in. He did a lot of bad stuff in the Big War because he didn't really know any better, but is begining to develop a conscience and wonder about his purpose in life. "Am I nothing more than a weapon of destruction," he wonders.

I don't know Dorfl, but he seems interesting. I like the complex Am I nothing more than a weapon thing.

One of my NPC's is going to be a warforged character dealing with post traumatic stress and dual personalities.

All he can remember from the time of the last war are the moments he spent with his kind nurtering mother figure who had the primary hand in creating him. However, he is completely unaware that he was also created by Kabren Mckee who was tried and executed for his crimes against humanity and warforged kind. His souless monstrosities reaped notable devastation on the battle field and were remarked as being inherently evil.

The warforged in question spent his life searching for his "mother" in order to determine his lost identity only to discover her remains in a building demolished by the Lord of Blades. He also discovered that he was yet to be complete as specified by Kabren's design and thus began the project of transforming himself into the killing machine he was originally intended to be so that he could exact revenge on the Lord of Blades personally.

Silver Flame guide us should he unlock the dark secret of Kabren's evil design and unleash a force greater and more deadly than any the Lord of Blades has ever faced.

I don't have any really detailed character concepts yet, but today I was thinking about what would be a cool warforged class. I came up with soul knife, if only because it would mean a character who is never without armor or weapons (and soul knives are just cool). So I was mulling this over, y'know, a living, thinking robot who wields a lazer sword... and I thought, holy crap. It's Zero (as in Megaman Zero)! And that just made the whole idea even cooler.

Wow another Mageman fan(I'm simi Fan, like making sprite comics, none posted yet). As for Characters, I'm going to be DMing so I've been thinking when I can. (Finals :P)
I've always liked Goblin tinkers and mechanics. Just recently I got a DnD mini figure called Snig the Axe. I would never have thought of giving a Goblin a battle axe and 3 levels of fighter. I was plaing on expanding this theme. Making Snig's warband with Magewrite spellcasters, Adepts, maybe an Artificer to build Instruments of ma-ham of destruction. Mainly they'll be there for comedy relief and an ongoing irritant.
Just had a late night flash back. Dino-Riders :) (that old TV show)
Halflings vs. Goblins riding tricked out Dinosaurs into battle. This sounds good... or its the lack of sleep. Regardless this is going into my notes.
Dragom

Just saying (Tacticaly, not story wise and half the game is tactic) with a medium mount (Or companion) and a small character you could ride in most dungeons with 7-8 foot cielings. And riding be awesomly powerful with the right feats.

I would see no reason even with specializing in light not to carry a lance. After all many things are defined with low AC and lots of HP. Or atleast there are things with a low AC that has to die this round not the next. Like spell casters...

For back ground your druid might be missing the Divine inspiration one might expect. That wonky little moment of strange harmony between the blood in your viens and the sap coursing through a leaf your looking at where at once utter reverence and excilleration of comprehension co-exist and mystery is shattered and remade. Or some such thing, it's really up to you and your DM.

Oh and yes Dorfl rocks. Despite being ceramic. But Dorfl was never a weapon of war. He was only a thing.

If I ever get to play, here's what my character will be like:

Gnome artificer named Cid with the goal of one day building an airship.

What? :D

Don't Forget Biggs and Wedge the two Galbadian soldiers, or were they members of Avalanche? Perhaps they were players for the Besaid Aurochs... This time I'll probably make Biggs and Wedge a Warforged and a Half-Orc, respectively. Emphasis on "this time".

My next peice of work is actually an odd pair made for use as NPC's, they might be PCs depending on weather my DM will allow double charecters and what the party looks like.

One is a female Aerenal elf Artificer. She has practiced her craft for a long time under the guidance of her greatest ancestor, a member of the Undieing Court. She is expected to be a great leader of her people. She felt unduely pressured and was scared of leting down her ancestor and her people, so she faked her own kidnapping. Only her brother knows exactly what happened, but he promised her not to tell. While on her travels she stumbled(literaly) over a unfunctioning warforged. After studing it for awhile she decided to cast repair light damage, and it awoke.

The other is the aformentioned 'forged who was a Fighter early on in the Last War. He was outmatched early in the war and left for broken. He was merly knocked "off-line" and was waiting to be repaired for who knows how long. He awoke to an Elven woman standing over him. He was initialy frightened, but was calmed. He had to ask his savior what had happened since he went off-line. He is now in her debt, and sees her as his new master(he doesn't know he's free) in the absence of his old one. Meanwhile he is trying to peice together the century he has lost.

Over the course of their travels something unforseen has happened, the elf has fallen in love. Now she has a new disire, to bear her companions child.(maybe a little too Book of Erotic Fantasy, but still compelling story point)

And the warforged would most likely take levels in the warforged juggernaut class when he was eligible. Will have to think on the Elf, and see what good PrCs are out there for an artificer.

Their battle stratagy is mostly the elf buffing the forged. The warforged will never stray too far from his elven companion, unless directly ordered to do so by her.

Actually all three and more(especially seeing as they played on more than just the Besaid Aurochs if you didn't get them). And why warforged and half-orc. And what will you do with them later(do I sense a FF theme with making them mostly anything around(hey theres an idea I think I'll make a Biggs and Wedge(or other named charecters) in everycity, when I DM anyway))

I believe Biggs and Wedge have been in all or almost all of the Final Fantasy games. I just mentioned the roles they played in the games I have seen.

On second thought, I think I'll make Biggs and Wedge two warforged who work in the basement of a noble's winter pallace stoking the furnace. Everything they say will be ripped from that Kid's in the Hall sketch I saw with the two furnace stockers, gregault and another guy who's name I have forgotten.

See my new favorit site for name generation.
Fantasy Name Generator (http://rinkworks.com/namegen/)

You have to mine for good ones but eventually you'll come to one you like and that fits well.
Since I don't know that much about the new Halfling culture I can't make any real good suggestions. Watch out for posable jokes, they've killed some good characters.

:weep:
Fair well General Gonads, I can't remember your original name because the Players got a hold of it and twisted it. But you were a good villain despite the name.

And on another subject: I'm working on Kalashtar, Changeling, and Shifter charecters. If I new more about the base races in Eberron I'd post somthing on them too. I really thought this thread would be more popular half the world is posting on the 'What race are you looking forward to?' with their charecter concepts. Oh well, it may pick up later.

No, no you shouldn't and I probably shouldn't have brought it up. On their own my friends are rather decent people, but together (dirty, dirty, dirty people). Almost nothing goes unscared.

As for races and character's I'm looking forward to...
O what thats not what you were asking for. Ya come back after the CSB has been released there will probably be better stuff.

Maybe chanage his name to Snig the Flail, keith has already said Darguun has a thing about chained weapons, maybe even give him a spiked chain. As for his followers give him some warriors. And for long term plans think Darguun Warlord PrC(I think it's a PrC). Just my 2cp

And I rember Dino-Riders! That was so cool.

Sorry, for some reason this didn't get my attion the first read through.

Ah thats okay, most of what I say people ignore(and I don't mean on the boards). Thanks for the suggestions, I'll keep them in mind while evolving that pre-generated character(I think I've seen Snig the Flail, he was leading the charge during a Warhammer Fantasy game. :) )

Moving on. As usually my best works of insanity come when I'm a light doze(dreams, dreams). Having just left one, and have devised my next villain to add to my list of Player irritants. (Devised, what am I thinking? Oh that's right, I'm not.)

Lord Crimson (better name in the works) gained notoriety during the conflicts that raged over the lands. He disquieted himself as a superior swordsman and moderate mercenary. Crimson enjoyed a life of relative luxury during his service as a field commander (or the like) of a mercenary detachment. Even during the war Crimson dragged himself and group of loyal followers (were would a villain be without henchmen) up though various courts. He became something of a sob, believing that a life of luxury an wealth was due him. Although he has real clam to being a noble, Crimson still demands that people address him with that level of respect. Those who don't are inevitably drawn into a duel with Crimson. This is usually fatal as Crimson only picks on people he can get way with killing in a "fair" fight.
With the end of open war, Crimson is now pursuing his goal of becoming a full-fledged noble and he'll do what ever it takes to achieve that end.
Stat set as I currently see them
9th level (this makes him powerful with overdoing it, correct me if I'm off target there)
6th level Fighter, 2nd level Rogue, 1st level Duelist
Weapon of chose: a master worked Elven Thin Blade gain as a spoil of war (now enchanted)
Few, I'm going back to sleep. I though an power hungry dueling maniac would be a nice change of pace from standard villains fair. Roving for court to court will allow the Players plenty of interaction with him. Hopefully his life will end in a spectacular fight to the finish with the parties best fighter. I'll do more this guy after I'm completely done with the semester.

I am really looking forward to making 'forged wizard with at least two levels of warmage prestige class from the DL Age of Mortals sourcebook. It is an excellent 5 level PC. At the second level the chance of arcane spell failure from wearing armor is reduced by 5%. The problem is the earliest you can receive said benefit is 7th level IIRC. This bloke will probably be a NPC in the end because I'll end up being DM as usual. Should be fun! I picture him with a bird familiar or even a Pseudodragon familiar chatting with the little bloke perched on his shoulder, staff in hand....

They could even be the magewrights that help Cid.

And my final charecter concept for awhile(I've run out of races I have info on).

Kanatash was a Kalashtar trained to be skirmish fighter using seer powers. He knew the powers Offensive Prescience, Offensive Precognition, and Inertial Armor. These powers would help him in hiting and damaging his opponents and surviving their attacks. He was selected as member of small skirmish squad that was to attack a newly formed and weakly guarded Inspired fortress. He was ment to do his job with a few others, while the remainder of the squad would be cover fire. They were caught off guard by a more powerful enemy than they had expected, a Warforged with a Quori spirit that wielded the power of a mind blade. Kanatash was the only one of the group to survive, and only to send a message, "This is what happens to those who fight the Inspired.". Somthing sparked inside him and he grabed the Mindblade held by his enemy. But when yanked from the machines hand the sword did not vanish, instead it held tight within his grasp. He took his chance and knockedout his shocked opponent. Then he ran as fast as he could. He knew that we would now travel the path of the Soulknife. When Kanatash told the tale to his people he was celebrated as hero for avenging his brethren. He swore that night that the Inspired would fall. He set out to gather his alys to fight the oppressors of his people.

Kanatash would start at 1st lvl as a Seer, but from then on he would take lvls in Soulknife, maybe taking some Elocater PrC lvl when he qualifys(to better his skirmish style). His feats would be two weapon fighting, and then the required feats for Elocater.

Brastan,

 Thank you for showing me that Name Generator (http://rinkworks.com/namegen/), as a token of my appreciation please accept two name generation templates of my own design:

African sounding names:

(<v>|A)(b|d|j|t|k)v(<c>a|)(t|j|k)(ae|o|e|a|i|<v>lah|<v>n)

Evil Sounding names (pronounce "les" as "lees" as in "hercules"):

(Baal|<c>e<c>|(<c>oth)|Mal|Ban|Saur|<cvc>|)<v>(<c|C>|ph|<C>)(us|eles|<v>r|on|<v>th)

(Remember not to put any spaces in them or you will receive an error.)

God this is a good name generator! Its only been a few hourse and I have two working name templates. Soon I'll have East Indian and Kalashtar name generation templates! :cloud9:

Ok I said I'd stop(and I will for awhile), but I can't stop myself. I currently have a Changeling Rouge under development(awaiting he divine inspiration for his background story).Looking for some idea for a Valenar elf, but I already did a mounted combat charecter(Valenar are militeristic and have a thing for horses). I'm also working on NPC specific charecters. I want to flesh out the idea behind the warforged from Kanatash's story. I may work on the brother of my elf who is a cleric of the UC, or maybe it'll be a half-brother half-elf necromancer. I'm also interested in deinfing the role for Biggs and Wedge for the campaign I'll run. So many ideas, so little time. And if I can get any info on the other races I'll use them as well. If anyone has any ideas, advice, suggestions please post them. And also post your own ideas, and I(and hopefully others) will give you feedback.

Thanks for the feedback. The class level were just a quick pass with out access to any books at all. I was home briefly and did a quick skim. Change to classes for Lord Crimson Fighter 6/Swashbuckler 3. The rouge was there for the social skills but the Swashbuckler is actually better for that. Stats: High Dex Int & Cha (will have numbers later, probably Elite array for NPCs, no book). Feat focus heavy on Elven Thin Blade(weapon specialization). I'm starting to like this arrogant social climber. Final touch for now, Alignment Lawful Evil, he has his own rigged code conduct to fallow. I'll use my 2nd Ed Villains hand book on this guy at some point (good book).

Biggs and Wedge. Popular everywhere, George Lucas must be proud. I'm seeing Arcane spell caster and his advanced familiar. Oh brainwave, Artificer Cid and his two Homunculus companions. Since you can improve Homunculi as you go they stay on par power wise(turn yours share of useless items in to Homunculi upgrades)

Here is one of my reoccuring characters...

Nimble Bart is a halfling who knows how to talk his way out of trouble, because that’s all he gets into. This flamboyant prankster seems to attract trouble like a magnet. It won’t take long for someone he cheated in a card game or the husband of his latest mistress to pop up and try to end his life.

He tends to wear a simple shirt and pants with a vest. A short sword is forever at his side. And he sports an eye patch, which tends to switch eyes from one hour to the next.

And he sports an eye patch, which tends to switch eyes from one hour to the next.

That joke never gets old. Nimble Bart sound like a well round character. He's a reoccuring characters? How many times has he reoccurred? And he's coming to Eberron? Ladies of Eberron beware. Nimble will fit in perfectly when it comes to the more social aspects of the setting. Of course since Eberron real is a low-level starting setting you'll have to build up his reputation again, but you already have a winning formula so that shouldn't be a problem.

You'll probably want to look at getting some action point boosting feats to help you escape form enraged mobs of angry husbands who've been take to the cleaners(if i got that usage right).

I say this character will thrive in Eberron.
:ayyyy!:

Does he have any goals beyond living the good life?

Ok back with my NPC warforged(well sort of).
[insert name] was a low ranking Quori spirit who was selected for a social expeiriment of the Inspired. He was to take over a Warforged body, and inlist in the LoB's army. As a test of his abilities he was posted at a newly built fortress to under see its final stages of completion. It was attacked by a band of Kalashtar. The mighty warrior and his troops quickly took out most of the raiders. He left one to send a message, but was defeated with his own mindblade. If it weren't for the amount of traing he'd undergone he would have been striped of the meager rank he had attained by his job. He went and infiltrated the LoB camp. As was his mission he rose in rank, but he did more than was expected. Due to his strange abilities he has become a general of LoB, and one of his favored. He continues to report to the Dreaming Dark. And he is often seen by the side of the LoB when stratagey is being discussed.

This charecter will take levels in the Warmind PrC starting at level 5. He is dedicated to fighting and stratagey, but is never without an escape plan. He still holds a grudge for the kalashtar who defeated him, and has sworn revenge.

The character I had an idea for when I started to read up on Eberron and its pulp noir style was a hard-boiled detective... ...mage. He would of course wear the customary wide-brimmed hat and greatcoat with a lot of big pockets. I don't have a name, but he's a diviner nick-named, "The Beholder" He gets the nickname from three things:
1. His occupation as a diviner/detective/bodyguard for nobility
2. His reputation from the war, he had a particular tactic of teleporting high in the air or jumping out of an airship, then levitating or flying through spells above the battlefield. From that altitude he could see the entire battlefield with his eyes or scrying, and then forward the intlligence to the officers below through spells again. He stays in the air via a wand of fly or levitation until the flow of the battle is just right. Then, he gets close to the ground and lays waste to the opposing force.
3. His eyes are of different colors. They're not dog-eyes, they're actually not his eyes. During the war he a bad experience and his eyes were either forcefully or voluntarily gouged out (haven't decided). To replace them he has magical glass eyes that allow him to see and make him immune to gaze attacks, obviously. When I first first thought this character up with the nickname, "Beholder" in mind, I thought maybe his replacement eyes actually came from a beholder he helped kill and that he could use the ray attacks inherent in the eyestalk.
This is one of the many ideas, characters or otherwise, I came up with in 2 seconds during a brainstorm.

Nice, I think they just keep getting better and better, or more divers but thats the same. Just a few quick question and comments. 1. What level are you planing one running this guy at? Teleporting is not that low level. This could lock him out of many of the introductory adventures that people are planning on running. Also remember that taking that almost all Aberrations are evil by nature in Eberron, Beholders and Illithids especially. Being called the Beholder does sound cool for a divining detective, but clients might come to him a little wary. You and your DM can have fun RPing this.
There hasn't been any pulp noir style characters on here yet(I think). I do like the name though, if not the creature associated with it. When you get the time add flesh to the nice bone you have. Look forward to seeing you around. :D (I do action adventure mostly, with an enfaces on action.)

"The Beholder" was just the concept I came up with when I thought about any character for Eberron. I don't really intend on playing him, I just have him in my head on my mental bookshelf waiting for him to be unleashed. Like so many of us, if I could have anything I wanted, it would be a commission to write a novel with him in it. But, that's not even a pipe dream because I don't think that way.
As far as the character's background of scrying above the battlefield goes, that idea came to me along with the eye thing when I tried to think of way or two to make him a bit over the top. The creator of Eberron likened his setting to Raiders of the Lost Ark. What that means to me is when making characters to make them larger than life, like Dr. Indy Jones and his film counterparts in other movies.
As far as level is concerned, my brother came up with the idea of teleporting him up there. In that case, he wouldn't personally need to be able to cast teleport, he would just need another wizard who is 9th level or greater to cast the spell on him. After that or in the case of just jumping out of an airship, he would just need to be able to cast fly once. If you give him a wand of fly, which I personally would if I were going to war with wizards in my army, he could be up there all day.
But again, this is just an idea for an Eberron character. The only thing I wonder though is if it is even possible for warforged to become monks. No particular reason, it was just another character concept. The only comment I have about Warforged characters, especially the ones in this thread is that all warforged characters as a race have the Terminator 2 thing going. The other thing I have to say about Warforged is that their illustrations make me picture a Boomer from BubbleGum Crisis getting medieval on me.

Lanodantheon_Thul, The Beholder is a cool idea. I wouldn't giv up on him as a npc. Maybe change some flavor aspects to fit into the less "Detective: Dwarf" feel of Eberron.

Meanwhile, I encourage others to post, and am trying to keep this going till the CSB comes out, at witch point I'm sure this will fill up quick. I'm still offering flavor and mechanics advice for any charecter posted here. We've had good stuff so far, lets keep it going.

An experimental psi prototype Warforged who calls itself Rift that has been living in the wilds of <insert suitable name> since the war ended. Unlike other Warforged, Rift's outer shell contains 'crystal lacing' (making stuff up already) which gives it the use of a cognizance crystal (capacitor 3.0). Rift is also a Psion- Kineticest (may be spelt wrong), embued with psionic energy and created in a way to tap into that potential, Rift was designed to be dropped behind or within enemy lines and then unleash waves or blast of destructive energy upon the 'enemy'.

Rift lives a relatively quiet life away from all other humanoids reflecting upon the beauty of the world around it and the nature of all living things. It feels some remorse for the acts it has commited and therefore does not feel 'worthy' enough to join the other freed Warforged in the settlement just outside of <insert another name>, or within any of the larger mixed race towns. Despite its reluctance to use its abilities on any living thing, Rift will come to the aid of wanderers or animals who have come under attack or are in trouble.

As an NPC, Rift could be found within a particularly remote forested area either contemplating, hiding from the party or protecting others from harm. Rift may also help the adventuring party if faced with imminent peril and may well lead them to safer places.

As a PC, Rift could be found as above and suitably convinced to join with the party to see the rest of the world and if it wished, embark upon some great errand to which may make it feel better or help it atone for its previous deeds.

Either way, Rift would have to be a minumum level 3 to be as potent as described, with extra levels quickly advancing the 'bang per buck' ability of Rift's psionic powers. Trust me, when let loose you would want to be standing behind Rift, not in front.

Stay sane

Psionic Warforge.

'crystal lacing' (making stuff up already)

Best excuses for I've read for Warforged having Psionics so far.

As an NPC, Rift could be found within a particularly remote forested area either contemplating, hiding from the party or protecting others from harm.

If the players found him lost in metdition would they mistake him fro a statue? Or maybe a broken Warforged? I think the PCs standing in-front of him would when he comes out of it would be in for some toubel. :)

Anyways I'll be back later with updated character stuff for Lord Crimson and his new cohort Lady Ishîal.

Thanks for keeping the thread alive Jedi.

I was kicking around this character concept since first reading the trailers of Eberron, it will probably be tweeked when I get my hands on the Campain setting but any way here it goes...

A human barbarian who grew up as a war-child orphaned and abandoned in the wastes left during the last days of the Last War. Having to survive on his own among the devastation he learned to fight and kill with great skill. He also developed a great hatred of Warforged since his family, village, and region was destroyed by them. He now hunts Warforged in a personal blood feud. He even has created make shift armor and weapons from Warforged bodies since he see's them as trophy's to be hunted and slain. He can not read, he may even be mute (have not decided yet) he is very shy around people almost to the point of being a pacifist around other people (he will never start a fight with a human, elf, halfling, dwarf etc....) but he is quick to draw blades on any warforged or monster.

Just some random thoughts

Greetings!

(When I hear Warforged, my mind always flashes back to Karn of M:tG fame.)

The setting sun flared crimson across the horizon, casting the sky into shades of pink and purple flame. The warforged's frame caught the light and was transformed into molten iron. Steel glanced back at the rest of the party. Together they stoked the fire and prepared the rabbits for spits. The sound of the bard's laughter drifted easiley on the breeze while the fighter and the cleric aurgued over the seasoning. He glanced at his hands. They were bloody.

They were always bloody. Blood was his first memory. He had not known the mans name. But his face, screaming, was etched memory. As was the feel of blood flowing down his blades and over his hands like water. The next memory was no better. Twin longswords whirling in death. Blood and terror filling the air as he killed and killed again. His mind was filled death and ash and flame. Though he spent weeks at a time cleaning and buffing them, Steel's hands always appeared crimson to his eyes.

He knew no peace. He had been born into this world ment to kill. He had known the art of death before his eyes had opened. His soul, if he had one, must surely be damned. And yet he could not hold back when needed. When the call for help sounded his hands cried out for blood. Yet today was different. He had felt the touch, the taint of blood for the last time. On the morrow he would leave these his friends - his family. He would find peace on this earth. Whispering a pray to the Silver Flame, he begged this to be so. Then he heard the cleric shout a warning.

Rising, he saw the orc tribe rushing from the trees, intent on retreving the Dragonshard. Without thought he drew his swords and killed the orcs that had been about to slaughter the priest of the Silver Flame. When their blood touched his hand he cried out in rage. For the 'forged had no tears to weep...

My brother joked about creating a red-colored 'forged with a brilliant energy axe attached to his arm. He would be called Optimus Prime. :)

If I could force a player playing a Warforged to read one book, it'd be "Feet of Clay." In Ankh-Morpork, golems are property. But what if they don't want to be property any more? They don't have any rights because they're not considered alive... but what if they murder? And is it even murder if something "not alive" does the killing?

The book is simultaneously completly divorced from any real world setting, while at the same time asking important questions about sentient creations (which we may in real life one day have to deal with) and drawing on real world mythologies (like the original golems of hebrew lore, they require a magical words in their head to give them life, though in Feet of Clay it's not a generic magical word, but can be any word, and sort of serves as a guideline for their orders. For instance it might just be "work hard" or "follow orders").

Also, like all Pratchett books, it's a satire and very very funny.

Iridane very good charecter, and great NPC to put against Warforged PC.

Okay I've done more work on Lord Crimson. I've got almost a full background and full character stats for the guy. Should I post here or start a new thread to deal with space? I.E. keep fully worked out characters off the concepts post and put them into a separate viewing location?

Thank for the feedback guys..... it's awsome. DM Smith you got my wheels turning....

Here's a concept that could be fun... more of an NPC but still could be worth the work. A Gnome Artificer - Airship Pirate Captain. With a motely crew of warforged, fighters, and rogues. He floats along the trade routes between nations raiding caravans and generally starting mayhem. He would be a skinny fellow with a long flowing waist coat, with high Charisma he would be dashing fellow with striking features although he would look somewhat silly as he is a small creature. He would carry a small Magical Rapier, and where and eye patch that would be magically charmed.... (don't know with what spell yet, mabey you guys could help??) Just for laughs he could even have a "parrot like" Humoculus (sp??) that squaks and speaks on his shoulder.

It is a googy idea, but hey why not have some fun with the "pulp" idea.

I've been Thinking of making a Waforged Artificer that dreams of answering the age old question: Who am I? And as a quirk he would constantly be seeking an answer to this by changing his original specifications a bit in the hope of coming a bit closer to the answer (I still don't know what to do at lower levels, but at the Mid-High I'll definately add some Wings :D )

The guy would obviously be an Philosopher in spirit and I can certaintly see great storyline potential within him.

Another character could be a 'Forged or Kalashter Psi-War who seeks to redeem acts done in the great war. This would be done by carrying a reverse blade sword, helping the oppressed and speaking in a mild third person perspective ;) :P (Oro...)

Another one of my ideas (that I got a long time ago) was a prototype Warforged Artificer that was a mechanic onboard an Airship that crashed during the great war, leaving him the only survivor. He then carried the remains of the ship and crew into a cave. He then searched for help and found a monastery where he spent his days untill the Treaty of Thronehold.

A consept that I came upp with that connects to the former idea was a former Halfling thief that is now on the straight and narrow and now seeks to stop crime on the streets of sharn (Halfling Rogue with Inquistive levels)

Another charecter I'll use as a reacuring person(I'm making a list of wierd/strange charecters that will just pop up from time to time). I can just imagine him be stumbled upon by my PCs as he just attached an intelligent sword to his arm and is fighting with it in the streets, or plumiting from a failed wing expeiriment. He will join the Ranks of Nimble Bart, and Biggs and Wedge. I don't know what biggs will be, but Wedge is someone obsessed with doorstops and other similar things.

My next charecter is more of NPC, but I could easily use it as a PC.

Its a Gnome from House [noble Gnome house]. He grew up in a life of privilage. His father was dead set on raising his son a noble, so he taught his son to fence. His mother, wanting to make sure he had class and culture, hired a mandolin teacher for her son. The son however was bored with this tedious life. The only thing that alleaved his boredom was the court jester and his stories of heros. The boy was so fascinated with the jester that he took lessons in performance from the funnyman. His parents never knew of the lessons, they were just impressed whenever he would sing and play for company. He however grew bored with the limited audiances, and fled in the night. He can now be found performing on the street cornors of any city that will have him. He searches for stories, and hopes to make a heroic tale of his own. Now that hes out on his own he misses the privilaged life he had back home, and retains the noble manerism taught him.

He can now be found performing on the street cornors of any city that will have him. He may also be found talking to anyone and everyone to find leads for the great heros of his time, or he may just be searching for the ingridiants for another fanciful tale of mystery, action, and intriuge.

He's a bard who may take Dragonmark Heir levels in later life. He does have a Dragonmark of [whatever].

Insperation is great. This idea is a little whacky, but it'll be so cool to play(if a little weak).

Zhane grew up acustomed to warfare, as his father had fought in the war for as long as he could rember. Zhane took up the mantle of warrior as well. He was a little odd, always experimenting with different fighting styles. He finally settled on a weird shield bashing style that most thought was a total joke. But he was fearsome on the battlefeild, and beat many opponents who underestimated this kid that only carried a sheild. But then it happend, he had been luckily out at the time, but his father and family werem't. When the Mourning happened, and Cyre was destroyed, Zhane lost all of his family. He now stands as a member of the Bittered Blades.

This is weirdest idea I have ever come up with for a serious PC. This may not be fully true, the Elf and 'forged were pretty wierd.

And, he should be a good guy... buy sometimes things will get bloody when, in his generous mercy, these settlers won't pack up and get outta his wilderness!

Back from the(overflowing) drawing board, and this one is a gem, well IMO anyway.

Feng's mother was a beautiful woman who dissapeared with an Orc who passed through town. 9 months later she returned with son in arms. If anything bad happened it was Feng who was blamed because he was "just a filthy Orc". He resented being called an Orc, it was only half of him, and in his oppinon the half that mattered was his human half. He grew to hate Orcs more than anyone else, it was their fault he suffered. He was made fun of and ridiculed for his mixed liniage. Even when the other children turned violent he would not retaliate. As he grew older he knew he wanted to prove himself as an upstanding citzen and fight in the war. He knew that he could be a normal soldier, or he could take the path of a religous warrior. Having grown up a true believer in the Silver Flame his choice was obvious. He tried to find a master willing to teach him the ways of a Paladin, but few would train an Orc. He finaly did find a mentor, and he learned the craft. He changed some of his practices, while he tried to distance himself from them he still retained his ancestors pentiant(sp?) for fighting. He saw minor action in the war and is somewat well known. He trys his hardest to show that he is not like his Orc kin.

obviously he's a Paladin, but he will use a varient rule from UA he gives up Turn Undead, Lay on Hands, and Remove disease, but gains a limited favored enemy list to use as a ranger. He will probably become an Exorsit of the Silver Flame.

Feng maybe a Favored Soul instead of a paladin.

Norton is an Artificer with an ambition, he intends to start a whole new form of magic. He's going to make gambling the most popular form of spellcasting and here's how:
By creatively using craft scroll and create wand and create wondorous device he'll make special playing-cards and dice that create magical effects when used. He'll then sell the devices to gamblers who wish to have a special "Ace up their sleeve".

(Basicaly It'll be multiple use scrolls, wands and special dice. The gist is that the form of the scrolls and the wands will be heavily altered in shape and instead of just using the item one has to roll for the effects [doesn't this remind you of the Wand of Wonders? And doesn't the Deck of Many Things work in a similar way])

Every one has such great Character ideas, its fantastic... I am just Drooling (slurp) for the Eberron CS.... (arrrg June just can't get here fast enough)

This next idea is more of an NPC antagonist but could be fleshed out into a full on organization. Well here it goes

"Vile creatures" she spat, standing on the ridge line her violet eyes gazing down at the devastation. Where once a proud forest stood with lush living trees sheltering all of natures children, now only a dried and burnt expanse remained littered with the dead and their tools. She was Lythadia a Wild Elf druid, her brass braided hair pulled away from her face, timeless and beautiful. But her violet eyes cold and filled with hate marred Lythadia's beauty. As the moonlight played off the blades and armor of the fallen warriors rotting in the dust of glen that they had burned to the ground Lythadia spoke her vows of vengence out loud "Defiler's, destroyers, with your putrid metals and ores, the suffering you have given will now be yours. I shall rend your steel and topple your towers and this land will once again will be ours. I am natures fury, I am natures wrath prepare yourselves for the blood bath!"
With those words Lythadia turned on heel and began her long march to find the magic and minnions that would give her the power to destroy all the nations of Khorvaire, doom echoed her foot steps.

This is just a basic idea - Lythadia would be a eco-terroist type of character driven to destroy the nations of Khovaire for the devestation that their Last War visited upon the land.

Very very nice. there are a number of bad guys as is, but I could definatly see Lythadia intereacting with any group willing to help her. I'd mostly use her as an agrivating factor in an already precarious situation, like a diplomatic meeting gone arri and then she shows up trying to take out the leaders.

DMing Eberron, starting in June, and have been thinking of the perfect party...

Jert was born to a Dragon Marked house in Sharn, the youngest of twelve, but the only one Marked. Much was expected of Jert, great pains were taken to train the boy, he had many excellent teachers...but no friends. Day after day, his longing grew. He would sit at the window and sigh, dreaming of one day leaving the city and his responsibilities behind. And on his seventeenth birthday, he did. A cloak bought (along with discretion, which was by far pricier) from a servant to disguise him, and a horse from the family stables to carry him, he made for the gates of Sharn. His training in swordplay, bowcraft and tracking served him well in the following weeks, until he reached the coast, and everything changed...(ie, the Campaign started). -Dragon Marked Human Ranger CG (Later to become an Extreme Explorer)

Heresy, they would always say, when Terin would whisper to her friends the ideas born in her dreams...dreams of a new age of heroes, a time when she would rise from beyond the shadow of her ancestors and make legends of her own. Terin was born for the priesthood, her father would say. She was determined and wise beyond her years, clearly marked for service to the Undying Court. While she spend her (intolerably) long youth attending to the duties expected of her by culture and kin, going through the motions of obeisence to those who came before, every night, year after year she dreamt of foreign shores and new adventures. Then one early morning as she was lighting the sacred flames of one of the Ancestors, something odd happened...it spoke to her. Not to the high priests, not solicited or for ritual...it just spoke to her. It said only this, "If you leave, you do not abandon us, nor will we abandon you." And so she did. Terin found it pitifully easy to leave undetected, the guards didn't seem to notice, heads turned just as she passed, and like that, she was gone. Within a few weeks she had booked passage on a merchant liner to Khorvaire, to her future, when it happened...(the campaign started). Aerenal Elf Cleric of the Undying Court CG (Eventually Fighter/Cleric, followed by some appropriate PrC.)

Life on the run is taxing, but far better than death...or whatever more frightening alternative the Inspired held for his kind, Yoruq always thought, as he toiled his days away on the sun-scorched beach of the merchant ship he crewed. Hard work, but engaging, the young Kaltashar believed. Others might say it was unbecoming for one of his intelligence, but he didn't mind. Yoruq was never easily bored; not when he studied at his master's knee, learning how to ply that intelligence into power, not when he spent days and nights running through the rain-soaked and cold forests of Sarlona, hounded by the servants of the Inspired, and certainly, he would not be bored on a glories, windy day at sea. Tommorow they ship would take on passengers and goods at Aerenal, passengers were always interesting, always with new and exotic stories...(and then the campaign starts) Kaltashar Psion (Nomad) NG (Not sure on how he'd develop, Nomad is such a neat class.)

That's it for the moment, I like running smaller games anyway (though my group is frightfully large)...

One question about Jert: if he was cooped up all his life, how did he get his ranger skills and abilities? Or were those picked up on the road? Is this shmo a fast learner or what?

Ah, yeah, didn't get as clear with Jert's background as I wanted to. He wasn't exactly cooped up physically so much as mentally. His training included riding, hunting, tracking, falconry, shooting, etc...he got out and did quite a bit, but always under the watchful eyes of his mentors, never because he wanted to. It's not that he doesn't enjoy the things he was taught to do, but the way in which and the reasons why he was taught them. As far as he was concerned, his entire life was planned out for him, and for someone with a Chaotic bent that just doesn't work.

A few other options could be pursued from an only slight tweaking of the same background: say he was the youngest and the only one -not- dragonmarked, and so, largely on his own he struggled to prove himself to his brothers and father. Instead of abandoning his responsibility, perhaps some tragedy befell his house, leaving him on the run from the forces that destroyed his family...these two little tweaks could give you a CN Rogue, rather than a CG Ranger. Perhaps his house was corrupt, and while he loved his family, he was devoted to righteousness, and so abandoned his family to join the Church of the Silver Flame, giving you a LG Paladin, or perhaps a Fighter/Cleric.

Arzid is a Shifter Bard who is a personofication of the saying "Music soothes the wild beast". Ever since he was young Arzid has had a temper but he allways calmed down when he heard music that his uncles friend played. In the hope of permanently calming down the kid, Arzids parents let his this friend train Arzid to be a minstrel.
He showed great skill with the lute and the bagpipe, and because of this he gained the attention of a local military captain, who asked Arzid if he wanted to join the army for a short while as a battle musician.
Arzid agreed and served for some time, then the war ended and he found himself far away from home and is now seeking more exitement.

The first thing Rikor can remember was that he was covered in grime and abbandoned weaponry and armor in the mournlands. The next thing he remembers was holding an axe and standing infront of a huge crustacean like thing and a sign that said Rikor.

He traveled for some time but couldn't seem to remember much anything. But one day he was attacked by strange small humanoids, lots of them, and when he fought them he found that he somehow became a bit faster, stronger and more excited than previously. After having disposed of the threat he followed the tracks the creatures had left and found himself on a dusty road.

After a few days worth of walking he found himself in a small village where he got to know that he was a old abandoned machine of war. He is now without purpose in life and is seeking some meaning from this world.

The trail was still fresh, and he wasn't too far behind. He was faster than the others due his special type of training. They soon came to the camp of the gnolls who had invaded their lands. He stoped and signaled the Climbers in the trees to move out. They jumped from the trees catching the beasts off guard. Next the Biters and Renders followed and began an assault on the monsters. Soon the camp was defeated and the shifter pack was triumphant. They returned home, and Jorac was praised as a hero. He was used to this, and it had become drab. He longed for more adventure, somthing beyond the pack. He got his chance when the pack leader was killed by a member of the neighboring Lizardfolk tribe. This was strange as they had always lived in peace with this tribe, both respecting the other's hunting grounds and territories, even allying against many common foes. Jorac noticed the strangeness of this, and of the oder that was present with the leader than night, he didn't know the smell, but he did know it wasn't a Lizardfolk. How ever the new leader refused to accept this, and demanded war with the Lizardfolk tribe. That night he left, he needed to find the one responsible for this a quick, if he failed countless Shifters and Lizardfolk would lose their lives in an unnecesarry war. This was also his chance to study the mastery of the body and the forms it could take.

Vilya sat alone, as she always did, on this night. She had been thrown from her mother's house, and then from her father's. It wasn't her fault things went wrong. She had no control over the things that happened around her, but things did, bad things. The night her mother sent her away, it had been the cat. She had been sweeping up when it had happened. The cat had accidently knocked over a candle, the flame cought the table cloth, the tablecloth caught the table, the table had caught the curtains and so on until the whole house was burning up. Her mother went to live with friends, leaving Vilya only an boat tickett to Valanear, and her father. But things there weren't any better. she had tried to fit in but never quite did. Once again her power manifested, the lover she had found kissed for the last time before going out that day. He was only supposed to go for a short time, it was just a simple hunt. But they hadn't counted on a large family of brown bears. Her love did not return alive. This and other incedents lead toher being sent back to Khorvaire. Since then she has lived on the streets, begging for what food she can get. But all those who stop to help her are have met with misfortune. "Why me?!" she screamed looking to the skys. "Why was i born with this curse?".
"It is no curse," came a voice" not if you embrace it." The man was shrouded in the shadows of night, but his presence was all Vilya needed to know he too had suffered. But he had risen from the ashes, and so could she.

Vilya: Half-Valanear Hexblade.
I just got CW and loved this class. Am looking for the insperation on my final 2 creations a Changeling and a Dwarf(then I will have done every race offically in Ebberon(I need a hobby, other than D&D)). On second thought I've made somw of those were NPC specifc(both warforged, and the Aereneal elf) so i'm gonna work on them some more too.

I am SO going to be a Warfrorged swashbukler. Mither armour feat, FTR\ROG and a ring of levitation to counter his weight (So he can swing on ropes like his human freinds). I'm thinking of making him a pirate.

Instead just make him a Swashbukler from CW.

I was never thrilled with that class. I like to use my mixes, becuse I can customize him more. If anything I'll use a Corsair from DRAGON 310. Perfect for rope swinging.:D

R'sowd Dna Siheld is a wery wierd Warforged, some would even say insane. You see he never refeers to himself with the word I or me, he allways uses forms like "this one" or similar things. He uses a Bastard Sword with only one cutting-side, but fights with the blunt side. He also ends every sentence with "gosaru". He also wears robes. And he refuses to kill living things.

Guess who I'm basing R'sowd Dna Siheld on :D

Ontopic/ I've been thinking of this:
Party of a Paladin, Cleric, Druid, and Bard... Why these four? They all can heal, and are traveling the mournlands trying to heal it. Of course, the Druid is the leader, but the Cleric has Heaing and Plant domains, and is a follower of the Druid's philosiphy.

Here's on for the DM's. A minstrel named the Forteller (will edit if I think of a better name). He or she is in just about every tavern or concert hall the PC's visit. And as a prelude to any adventures the Forteller players a musical set (DM's selection) that reflects some major element of the planned adventure. However the Forteller always manages to slip away right after his peace and can't be questioned about his playing. I think this would be a great excuse to bring music into a more prominent role.

Oh I like that. I might put him on city streets and such, and he might just be another part of my all knowing gnome. Fits in with the group of people who my PCs will run across, but have no true hold on whats going on.

Random brainstorm! I don't know if anyone's mentioned this, but what about an Abberant Marked warforged? That would be interesting. Depending on the House, there could be room for all sorts of unusual allies, implacable foes, and mind-bending intrigue.

Not a clue there, sorry.

What I did come post about was to leave you all with something of a head scratcher. I have two new NPCs (who will be fleshed out in there entirety).
Both belong to my Strikers mercenary organization. One is the half-orc commander of the calvary named Fillup Gearce. The other in an elven spymistress name Jarira. Jarira is definitely chaotic but I don't really have a personality in mind. Her classes are Expert 7/ Spymaster 2(song and silence). This works out easy.

Fillup I have a good Idea about. I was thinking BIG half-orc, and rather slow(physically not mentally) with poor dexterity.

Now heres the puzzler Fillup is a 8th level warrior and a 1st level Cavalier. How to make this work since he comes up one feat short? Keeping in mind that all official DnD products are open and no change in character level. My Solution(Spoiler, thank you again Johnny) to this problem is posted below. Please read it if you don't have time, energy, or inclination to go though your books.
I used the Character Flaws from Unearthed Archana to give him that extra feat he needed. Since at firsts level he can get both mounted combat and the weapon focus (lance) it made it relay easy. I gave him the Slow flaw. Don't to worry about responding openly to this. Its just to give people time to grab there books and come up with something.
I hope this encourages people to come up with unlikely class combinations and make them work. Mainly its an experment to see how far NPC classes can be stretched.

I've never really seen people combine "ordinary" class levels with a PrC before without adding an actual heroic class. I'd assume that since in Eberron being a member of a heroic class is pretty prestigious, and prestige classes are even more so, that ordinaries probably would never have reason (or the chance) to sign up. But it's a good way to make a character not as tough as the PCs, special ability-wise yet still have asurprise or two up his sleeve.

Good way around the missing feats problem, though- I'd forgotten about the trait/flaw system in UA. It's also a good way to add some character to an NPC.

As for the idea I mentioned above, it was literally a sudden random idea- I wasn't sure if it's even possible. I figured it could fuel someone else's ideas, though I may just have to use it myself. Personally I could see it being a big hindrance on the warforged's life- not to mention causing all sorts of sages and House members to lose their minds. It's all Xoriat's fault.

Now I don't have the book, but I don't think this is possible. Abberant marks occur when members of two houses have children, so I doubt a Warfoged could get one, seeing as there is no racial mix that will lead to a warforged child(a half-forged yes(but we don't have one offically, just my littleattempt), but not a full forged)).

I guess it depends on the history of the dragonmarks is, which of course can be fudged in your campaign.

Actually, I'd say that if warforged start to show dragonmarks, it could have some interesting implications:

One possibility is that the origin of dragonmarks is not quite what people think it is, and perhaps the appearance of the marks on warforged is some sign that reality (the three dragons?) has "accepted" them as sentient beings able to uphold their own destiny.

Another possibility is that some of the macabre ideas people have had about warforged having been given souls taken from people could be true. Perhaps the warforged with dragonmarks were produced from the souls (or mixtures of the souls?) of people who had dragonmarks.

Either of these could serve as a pretty intriguing plot hook.

Well, I've been bouncing around a couple of possible PCs I'll be playing once a friend of mine gets his Eberron book and runs a game...

1. A warforged fighter or swashbuckler who fights with two rapiers. He's called Nimblewright.

2. An elven archer trying to find a balance between his devotion to the Silver Flame and his duty to the Undying Court.

3. A kalashtar psion. It'd be an interesting roleplaying challenge, since I've never played a psion and the kalashtar are noted to have rather alien thought patterns.

4. A blood member and agent of a dragonmarked house, possessing a mark himself. Mark of Storms or Mark of Finding, perhaps. The Mark of Healing would probably be the most useful in an adventuring environment, but House Jorasco isn't that intriguing.

5. A priest of the Silver Flame dedicated to rooting out corruption and evil within the church, going after people like Elder Nevillom in Q'barra.

Actually, there is no requirement for a blood relation with a dragonmarked house, that's what makes it aberrant. However, you have to be a member of a dragonmarked race, so warforged are still out of bounds.

You know, I think I like that just as well- it means people have an extra incentive to play a "normal" race. There aren't a lot of people in my campaigns who seem comfortable with a +0 level adjustment. Maybe it's because a lot of them are new and they've all seen elves and dwarves before, I dunno. It does make games interesting when the half-dragon cleric and the tiefling wizard literally battle over dominance of the groups souls, though. I'm amazed they haven't come to blows.

Ok here's a villian for a Psionics heavy campaign. The Dreaming Dark set a nefarious plan in motion thousansds of years ago. When the Quori originaly tried to invade, but were being fought off by the Giants, they invaded the dreams of prenant giantesses and somehow stunted the growth the children. This produced a number of lesser giants now known as the Half-Giants.

Twords the begining of the war, the Inspired approached the leader of the Blood of Vol, a elven half-green dragon lich, about an alliance. All that was shared was an idea to steal dragon eggs from Argonnessen, for a foray into manipulating bloodlines.

The DD then gathered these two parts and made a being of imense power. This being known as Haltash is a Half Obsidian Dragon/Half Half Giant. We wields powers most never dream of. He not only manifests the powers of a Psion, but also the mindblade of a Soulknife, with no effort. He now seeks out is own agenda, searching for why he was made, and what purpose he has. He will not back down from any challange, and will fight anyone in his way. When he is done with what he is doing, he simply travels to another plane, hes oftly fond of Fernia. He is occasionaly seen working with the The Emerald Claw.

Haltash is a gestalt Soulknife/Psion. I could see him fitting in a non-gestalt campaign as an enemy with more potential than any others seen. So what do you think?

Ok heres another NPC duo.

Grul took the assignment from the house representiive. He was to hunt down a group of adventurers who had ben causing a stir recently. Someone up the chain thought these adventurers were getting too close to somthing. They had already thwarted some of the Emerald Claw's plans, as well as other orginizations. It was up to him and his companion were to hunt them down, and take any means necesary to take them out of the picture. Grul turned and exited the room. He nodded to the ogre and the two were off on the hunt, and Grul's dragonmark started to burn.

Grul and Companion- Half-Orc dragonmarked warrior, and Ogre warrior. Also been thinking of adding a Gnoll expert to the mix.

Well I posted this before, but I really enjoy playing with the idea of the Rakahasa and the Coatyls.

So I choose to work with four Rakahasa brothers of various ages. Thier father was slain in battle by a holy cross bow bolt and seering light, thus his youngest son whom I truly would like to play or can be easily made into an npc develops the level 1 spell reverse projectiles and the level 4 spell unholy barrier, which will absorb sacred damage much like elemental resistance of 3rd level, if he makes it that high.

Now each of the four brothers has an agenda, mine the youngest will attempt to crash the sea of fire plane into the material plane creating a plane of dust. Sound simpossible? Not on Eberron, and there are few to stop him save many a pc. After a level of sorceror and mindbender I can make peaceful contact with the elemental plane of fire and create a quasi dust elemental. Thank you temple of elemental evil and all your 2.0 glory which is converted.

With my elemental and a warforged cohort blacksmith warrior, or perhaps a werewolf from the eternal wild plane.

I made it so the family of Rakahasas had contact with a lawful evil female black dragon. So each of the four brothers has a wrymling black dragon, thank you dragon magizine 230!

In order to collect on thier inheritance they must each slay a Couatyl. thier inheritance consists of no more than 16k gold and the first to slay a couatyl before the other three will recieve a wand of eternal reverse projectiles or protection from arrows.

If the brother cnanot kill a Couatyl within a year of thier fathers death the female black dragon keeps all the inheritance a heft 300,000 gold most of which it kept before out of interest, for itself and refuses to listen to any plea from the brothers.

The first, eldest brother will be an albino Rakahasa, quite odd, and take levels from the prestige class one with the void.
The second eldest brother will be a cancer mage, the third a talon of tiamant or ally to the dragon below.
The youngest will take the full 14 leels of rakasha in savage species making him immune to 8 levels of spells, onyl vulnerable to level 9 magic ^^ One level mind bender so only 13 level rakahasa, then he will take level of sorceror until he can take prestigae class archmage. He will then opt for the feat to have protection from arrows, reverse protectiles or Unholy barrier up all the time.

I plan for the youngest to be a covert spy as detect thoughts is quite nice in any goverment and he hates house Cannith and wishes to take it over. First order of business is documenting the dragon marked, keeping track of them which house Cannith records would do and then disguise himself as a trusted advisor and slowly work his way as an actual dragon marked. Detect evil rooted this idea out completely.

Thus the youngest will pretend to be a vampire aristocrat and help the party, now he has a perfect disguise and has no supicions. Exact smae alignment makes him harder to find. this way he can pick off draogn marked as they visit family members in the cemetary.

Now I plan also to have a human dragon marked who actively tries to cut off his mark causing himself extreme pain. He spent a majority of his like as an item thanks to polymorph and the wizards got hm while he was sleeping. so he is completely paranoid of the gnome society and sleeping with other party members. the perfect antsy NPC. He'll get assimilated by house cannith after various run away attempts, but it is seen he is a master tailor and crafter. His dragon mark regrows after several hours and thus encoures a lot of abuse on the palm of his hand. He cannot hide it, and when he wears gloves the mark will unravel whatever is covering the hand if the material is fabric or metal.

My first and most lovable idea is a warforged barbarian who lives on the apocolptic ruins of the plains. He find two human children and starts to raise them and eventually will drop them off at the city that whoirships the silver flame.

I am planning on DMing an Eberron campaign shortly, and one of my players is going to play a changeling monk that trained under another, more experienced monk, who taught him various styles of combat mimicking animals (perhaps a shifter monk). Eventually, this changeling monk will make the leap from merely mimicking the movements of animals to actually taking on new forms, i.e., via the shifter prestige class from MotW. I've revamped the PrC quite a bit (most notably, removing the spellcasting prereq), and I am looking forward to seeing how this works out.
Brastan

06-14-04, 02:40 AM
Let us know how that revamp goes.

Moving on. Scales, Stench, and Squeak (most likely will become an adventure).
A pure blood Yuan-Ti has devised a plan to open a rift to Ferina, calling forth Salamanders to Material Plane in mass numbers. Unfortunately this plan calls for the creation of a firestorm. To this end she has engaged the services of a band of Troglodytes and a small clan of Kobolds to block off the rivers feeding a small secluded woodland town. The resulting forced drought has put the towns folk in a dire situation.

Any suggestions for a fire happy Eberron flavored Yuan-Ti. I'm looking for a mid-level(6-11th) villain. I just can't think of the best setup for her.

I have my mind set on playing a changeling artificer. I like the alien, outside of society feel of the changelings. And I think the artificer class is very well done in the book. I'd like to play a changeling that normally walks around with his normal face and who is proud to be a changeling.

Of course I do need somebody who will play my warforged companion/ friend.
FireLance

06-14-04, 06:31 AM
I'm planning to play a warforged paladin (paladinbot reference fully intended) when my friend starts his Eberron campaign. The Wisdom and Charisma penalty will be painful, but the RP potential is too great to ignore. The basic personality concept is Optimus Prime (Autobot leader) meets Dorfl (Pratchett's golem watchman) meets Andrew Martin (Asimov's Bicentennial Man).

I'll need to flesh out his backstory more fully when I get my hands on a copy of the book, but it will involve him being attacked and nearly destroyed by a mob - possibly because they want to get hold of his adamantine-laced plating, because they fear that he could be dangerous, or because they just hate warforged - and rescued by a cleric of the Silver Flame.

Having seen what evil can make people do, he has sworn to oppose it, and is particularly sensitive to selfishness, prejudice and hatred.
BigVinni71

07-30-04, 04:31 PM
I'm trying to come up with a Warforged character and a question arose. Can warforged be Sorcerors? I don't have my copy of Eberron, so I can't look up the background on sorcerors, but I think I recall that sorcery isn't based on dragon blood in Eberron.

If this is true, cannot a warforged be a sorceror?
What I really want to know: Can a warforged be a Dragon Disciple? Taking either Bard, Hexblade, or Sorceror to get there would be simple, and meet all the requirements. Picturing a winged warforged spewing fire from his mouth, and now I see a Warforged air force...

I've looked over the PrC Dragon Disciple (DMG) and the only racial requirement is not being a dragon. I looked up Half-Dragon (since you gain the template at DD lv10) in the monster manual, and the only racial limit there is being a living, corporeal creature.

My DM thinks it's a neat thought to pursue.
Can anyone see any technical reason (rules-wise) for not allowing a Warforged Dragon Disciple?
Quithion

07-30-04, 08:58 PM
I think a warforged dragon disciple would be a interesting character to play. I think perhaps he might be a unqie creation of Merrix d' Cannith and his creation forge under sharn. Perhaps he include dragons blue and a few dragon sahrd in the creation process to allow the warforged to be born this way. Watch out though. You by many definitions will be an abomination. Other warforged will hate you especially the followers of the Lord of Blades. Aslo, keep in mind that there is a good chance that if a half-dragon caused the destruction of a whole dragonmarked house, if the dragons find out they might not be to happy about it.

Here is the idea I had for a idealistic young paladin from Q'barra.
I do not have many details on him yet, but he would be a paladin who was dedicated to the ideal of Galifar. He was born in cyre, but was taken to Q'barra during that exodus. He is angry at the thought of the last war and has taken to adventureringto spread good around Khoirvaire and restore the ideals Galifar was built upon.

One of the aspects of Eberron that really...got me was the Dragon Mark Houses and how they're like big corporations. I also was highly pleased with the adventureous scholar type PRC's, the Master Inquisitive and the Extreme Explorer. I thought of the three together and it was like Sherlock Holmes meets Indianna Jones meets Oliver Queen (the Green Arrow from comics)!

So even though I'm currently DMing a game, if I were to play a character it would be a Human Expert (from Unearthed Arcana), with a Least Dragonmark of the Mark of Finding and the Favored in House feat. I would then go into Master Inquisitive PRC (at 4th level I think), then Dragon Mark Heir PRC (at 5th level), switch between the two, until I could move into the Extreme Explorer PRC (at 8th level, I think) and be a Male version of Lara Croft. Meet Maximillian Stone! Yeah I know, a bit corny/campy but I had a really clear picture of him in my head and a big grin on my face when I thought him up.

My character concept? Tarzan (not a copy of the character, just used him for inspiration).

Meet Gregory d'Orien of Aundair. Gregory d'Orien's parents decided to take part in a Wayfinder expedition to Xen'drik while his mother was pregnant.

Most unfortunate. Their airship crashed into the jungle. The crew and Gregory's parents survived for a while, and Gregory was born.

But then they were killed by drow raiders from the Deathsinger tribe. Except for Gregory, who was later found by drow from the Godcaller tribe. The drow were fascinated by little Gregory, and took him in. They named him Boneskin due to the pale skin he possessed.

A lot of stuff happened, Boneskin learned how to use Xen'drik boomerangs, and was later found by a Morgrave expedition. He still doesn't possess a dragonmark (although he will get one later).

Boneskin the barbarian's specialty is jumping from tree to tree (max ranks in Jump, the feats Acrobatic and Skill Focus (Jump) and knowing a lot of languages (currently knows Common, Drow Sign, Elven, and Giant).

Bumpity bump bump... don't want to start a whole new thread if one is already open.

...........

My concept is for a Changeling Rogue/Cleric of the Traveller (DM started us at character level 4). I'm still working on it, but this is the first pass at the idea.

I named my character Senn (for the heck of it)...

Senn and a Half Elven Thief called "The Black Rose" were an infamous pair of burglars from Thrane.

Though incredibly different in background, they both shared a love for ridiculous acts of life-threatening bravado (as much bravery as thieves can muster, that is)... and in their love of danger, they found a great union of their two beings. The two thieves became not just allies, but also lovers - the Changeling servant of the Traveller, and the beautiful Half Elven rogue.

The pair of thieves made their mark by stealing precious silver objects of worship from temples of the Silver Flame. Despite the danger of terrible retribution from the Church, they were unusually successful...

... until the day that Sister Gaer Tallum decided to set a trap for the burglars who had been violating her Church. Spreading word that a priceless artifact of the Silver Flame would be displayed in the temple in a small & poorly guarded village in central Thrane, Sister Gaer carefully laid bait that the thieves could not resist. When Senn & the Black Rose attempted to burglarize the village temple, an unforgiving band of Church templars ambushed the pair & let loose a volley of poisoned arrows at the two foolish thieves.

The Black Rose was struck, but Senn managed to carry her to safety while eluding their pursuers. However, there was little that Senn could do for her, and she grew weaker by the moment. The poison eventually found her heart, and the Black Rose was slain.

Heartbroken, Senn could not let his love pass from the world, even if he had no way to save her. Now, he wears her image as his mask... a constant reminder of all that he has lost.

...

(hopefully that is not too angst-y... the underlying theme is heroism and redemption, and not "Vampire"-style brooding & inaction/degeneration.

"Revenge" is not the goal that I want for this character, even if it's the most obvious one.

"Finding a better way to live than reckless stupidity (including revenge)" is the angle that I want to pursue... probably right after the slightly less obvious goal of "Going into the Underworld to save his lost love". That's a character hook that I don't plan to press on the DM, though.)

I just made Ismael ben Ihman ben Ahmed de Jorasco, a Talenta Halfling. His Father (posesses greater Dragonmark) leads the big tribe through the plains. Ismael does not see any chance to get leader himself an decides to leave and explore the world eventually being able to take his father's position. He is an Halfling Fighter(2)/Swashbuckler(2) and runs for Derwish PRC which will finally be very cool :)

I play him as an DM(N)PC in the current campaign and he is really fun to play :)

Rail-thin, with a titanium-like coating of mithral to lend strength to his strangely hollow frame, Trance is unlike any other Warforged that you have run across in your travels through Khorvaire. Light reflects off his silvered skin in rainbow hues, lending him an other-worldly quality that is absent in other members of his ‘race.’ His eyes, perfectly polished azure stone, appear warm and thoughtful. If one catches him unawares, Trance often seems to be lost in a moment of quiet reverie.

Created to push the boundaries of House Cannith’s knowledge, Trance first worked in their research division on the development of new warforged components. The unique creativity that he expressed made his investigations there highly successful. After a year of such work, Trance was shifted to a project researching Docent technology, and it was there that his life began to change.

The time he spent in the laboratory attempting to pry the secrets from the ancient technology was an all-consuming experience for Trance. His sharp mind struggled to come to grips with the aged and brilliant sentience that slept in the docents that served as his research subjects. And then the dreams started.

The first dream came after four days spent in the depths of the House Cannith laboratories. He had been working with a particularly intriguing docent, one that refused to wake when merged with a warforged, yet was obviously still active, perhaps simply in a some sort of stasis. His eyes began to lose their focus, much as if he were a simple human deprived of much-needed sleep. Shaking his head, he looked up and saw her for the first time. Beautiful, ethereal, she spoke to him, and he was transfixed. She spoke of an age long-past, and of 'ones who came before.' He listened.

The words of one of his fellow researchers, arriving on the next shift, jarred Trance from his reverie, and the woman vanished. He felt terribly alone. The docent in his hands felt cold, nearly lifeless once again. But he knew that something lay within, or perhaps outside it, but that there must be some greater meaning to the Warforged existence than he had previously thought. For he had dreamed, and she had spoken to him.

Surreptitiously, Trance began to shift the focus of his research to the history of docents, and the history of the known and unknown world. No longer did he believe that the Warforged were the brainchild of Merrix de Cannith. No, with such obviously powerful, ancient technology as the docents, and with the words of the woman who came to him in his dreams, for they were happening more often now, Trance knew that the Warforged must have preceded House Cannith. Merrix de Cannith may have 'discovered' the Warforged, but it was just that - a discovery, not an invention. For they were here long before, and Trance was determined to unlock the secrets of their origin.

Taking with him the sleeping docent that he was still unable to access, except perhaps through his dreams, Trance fled the confines of the Cannith Laboratories. He embarked upon a journey that he hoped would take him to Xen'drik, there to uncover evidence of the true history of his people, to find backing for his conviction that the Warforged were not meant simply as machines of servitude to men, forced to fight the wars of humanity, but rather stemmed from some ancient and symbiotic partnership. He hoped to undo the damage caused by Merrix de Cannith's twisting of the Warforged for his own megalomaniacal ends. And so now Trance travels, seeking truth, in fear that he is hunted by House Cannith, though unsure if that is truly the case. And he continues to dream.

What do you think? A decent backstory for a Nymph's Kissed Warforged Artificer? While the 'seeking the meaning of his existence' thing has been done before, this one combines a political component (undoing House Cannith) with a drive for good old fashioned dungeon crawling (exploring the ruins of Xen'drik) that I find really appealing, and relatively novel. We start the game next week, at level one, and I'm excited to see what playing an Artificer is like. (Having played a melee combatant for the past four years or so...)

It's late night here and I'm afraid my brain will not let me come up with back stories. Anyway I've had these concepts banging in my head ever since I bought the Eberron book.

1) Warforged Monk. The main idea here is that she is looking for inner piece and enlightenment as a way of dealing with the inherent warmongering aspect of her creation.

Father Duma raised a single eyebrow quizically.

"You wish to join us here."

The metallic face reagrding him impasively.

"Yes Reverend One. I feel the desire; no, not desire, the compulsion to discover and master myself."

The master of the monastry unrolled a scroll in front of his crossed legs and looked up at the warforged petitioner.

"Your request is unprecidented here but all who seek are welcome."

"Thank you Reverend One."

As the newest initiate left his sparce chamber Duma smiled to himself.

2) A warforged fighter who vividly remembers the 17 men and women he killed on the battle front. He has learnt to draw and paint and has a scrap book with pictures of the 17. He knows the country each fought for and wishes to find their families and make restitution. In every village and town he makes his enquiries; patiently and unhurried. He will make ammends

3)

"Why do I hate them? When I was growing up I knew I wanted to fight for king and country, as my grandfather and father had before me. When I was 12 we found out the Cyre scum had killed our father. Those were tough times for our family but when I turn 16 and my brother 17 we joined up as was our duty and our honour.

"We were in our first engagement when Thrane warforged charged us. I saw my brother killed by one of them then I took a blow to the head all went black. While I was unconcious our reserves charged in. I awoke in time for the clean up. The reserves marched past us, greyish faces twisted in an obscene mockery of life. I watched them go past in terrified joy. Terror at such horrors and joy that they were ours.

"Then all my feelings fell away as I had died.

"For my father marched before me. Corpse-bloated face sneering, red eyes glaring with such unnatural malice. As I turned retching I saw my brother's fallen form, knelt over by one in the robes of an necromancer. I saw his form stagger to it's feet and join the march of the dead. And I saw the hellish look of evil hunger and bloodthirst consume his pale face.

"I left the army that night, and am still wanted for desertion as far as I know."

I see this character as a human, either cleric, paladin or possibly ranger with undead as favoured enemy.

There are more but I'm too tired.

Seconds out, round 2
4) Kalashtar Sorcerer
Traveling from the mountains of Adar, this voyager is a Keeper of the Word. She is coming to the distant shores of Khorvaire to learn more of the land of dragonshards and other arcane magicians.

5) House Kundarak trapbreaker
Garrick twisted the spinter of metal deftly into the gap between two flag stones. Lady ir'Hallon looked on in amazment as the dwarf jumped up and down on the trap door that led to a pit of ice cold water.
"There you go your ladyship. I reckon that's where they got in alright and that's how they made it safe. Now if you'll see clear to signing a Kundarak security contractwe can sort that out for you."
"Yes, yes of course."
"Then a Sivis scribe will call on you tomorrow morning your ladyship. Fair evening."
Garrick walked off; although happy at the comission he would recieve this was being to get a little, well boring.
I'd see this character as focusing on Craft(trapmaking), Disable Device, Open Lock and Search. Definiately Least Dragonmark feat. Dragonmark Heir is obviously an option. Alternatively he might make a good Master Inquisitive later on, or perhaps take some fighter levels.

I wasn't even aware this thing was still around, otherwise I never would have posted my Reviving the Charecter Concept Thread thread.

O well, I will post the charecter I placed there rite here as soon as I can.

Edit:
Here is my as yet unnamed flying mage(kind of a sharn skymage build).

He manifested an abberant dragonmark around age 8. It sits along his waist line so it is easy to hide, witch is what his parents told him to do. He always made sure no one ever saw it, he had no interest in being hunted by the Dragonmarked houses. For some time he never knew what his mark did, no matter how many times he tried to activate it nothing ever happened. One day when he was nine, while he was traveling in middle Dura, an earthquake struck the city of Sharn. The bridge he and his parents were on started to shake, eventually crumbeling beneath them. In his panic something triggered, he could feel is mark burning, and then he felt himself slow. He luckily managed to fall to another bridge some 30 or 40 feet down. His parents weren't so lucky. Before the bridge he landed on crumbeled beneath him he was picked up by a stranger and carried off. The stranger took him to Thora Tavin, leader of House Tarkanan. She adopted him, and gave him a good life.

His fall had awoken something in him, a joy of the air brushing past his face. It was not uncommon to see him jumping from one bridge or balacony to another a level or two below just for thrills. He had acheived somewhat of a small reputaion for doing this. But he grew bored with just jumping, and wished to fly. He used his conections through the house to procure a mentor in the arts of wizardry, transmutation in paticular. The mentor he found had found the subtler schools distasetful, and had thus refused to cast illusion and enchantment spells. The boy had no problem with this as he just wanted to fly, and anything else he learned was just added bonus.
Once he had learned some basic spells Thora started his training in using his dragonmark. He joined with others who had similar marks to his, and were taught to fly on soarsleds and attack from the air. He was adept at this as his mark gave him confidance in his ability to keep from getting too hurt. One mission he was sent on took him too far up to safely rely on his dragonmark to survive, and so he procured black dragon's blood from a tie in Daask. This became a common practice for him, and it wasn't long before he became adicted. He has often battled his addiction, and won, but he has also built up more of a tolerance twords drugs and poisons. He has currently kicked the addiction.
Lady Tavin, as he likes to call her, instilled in him a belief that the abberants were superior to the "true" dragonmarked houses. Now he has plans to bring House Tarkanan to the top of the food chain, but he must accumulate more power first. He still does not reveal his mark to anyone, to acheive his goal he must survive long enough to build up a force to support him. He now goes by the last name of d'Tavin, but only among house members, and never in public.
He has grown bored with his rather predictable life. While he appricates what Lady Tavin did for him, he does not really see her as a parent figure, more of a sponser. He doesn't like the missions he is sent on, but he owes it to those who saved him, and raised him. He longs for exitement, something sorely lacking as even his missions are strait forward "kill in their sleep" deals. He has coped with this for sometime by burying himself in his studies, everything from the planes to the history of all Khorvaire. He has also taken some lessons in the law, and has worked as a barrister in a couple of the more low profile cases against the house. Still, he is growing restless, and wishes to adventure to gain the power and knowledge to acheive his goals for the house.

A Bard who sings satirical ballads

I always wanted to make a bard with ranks in Perform(Pun), so as to resembel most hero stories(guy gets a leg sliced off, "That ought to cut you down to size). He inspires curage and fear by hackeling his foes. Would definantly make an interesting opponent.

I've got a couple of characters floating through my head, but since I'm DMing the Eberron campaigns, as I'm the only one who knows Eberron, they'll be either NPCs or DMPCs.

One is a bookish young cleric of the Silver Flame. Originally from Cryre, she was away for schooling when the Day of Mourning occurred. Now she lives with the other priests and adepts of the order. Her charge is the library where she likes to pass the time reading (she has a weakness for romances). But she desperately wants to find out what happened to Cyre on the Day of Mourning.

Another is a Talenta halfling dino rider. She was young when the war was on, and her elder "sister" went out to fight. She very much looked up to her sister so when she returned from war with heroic stories, she wanted to emulate her by going out and proving herself to her clan. Besides, many of the young men have been attempting to court her, and she's not interested in any of them, so instead she embarks on a journey into the world.

Then there's Nym, my changeling artificer. As a little girl, she was found in the woods of Aundair by a half-elf who took her in an raised her. He was a professor at Arcanix and consequentially sent Nym, who he named Deornyd, to school. Deornyd excelled at magical studies and her curiousity lead her to be interested in the inner workings of magic, leading her to be an artificer. Unfortunately, her alien appearance in her changeling form made her highly unpopular with the other students, so she began to develope her shapeshifting talents and adopted a half elf appearance.

Eventually, her affection for her guardian turned into a deeper love. However, she realized after confessing that he did not return her feelings. So she ran away, adpoted a new appearance, that of a warrior woman Myrette. During the last two years of the war, she wandered around, learning to fight, and learning more about magic. She befrended and aided an inert warforged. In an abandoned village, she was cornered by a Valenar elf and killed him before he could kill her. Now she wields his sword.

Now she lives in Sharn, making a meager living by selling magical items and potions to the magical community (in the guise of another identity, an elf woman she's named Thaerenial).

I have a few NPCs I'm working on as well. (Although I like the idea of using Wedge, Biggs and Cid from the FF games. Maybe I will put a Cid in every town, too. :P ) One character I'd like to implement is a character my brother made for an older campaign. Gramen is a friendly barkeep, someone who gets to know his customers pretty well. In the original campaign, he was actually of a race my brother called the Chamelian. They were mutated dopplegangers; dopplegangers that had lost the ability to detect thoughts. Essentially, Changeling. Always thought he was a cool guy, your typical barkeep who listened to your problems and gave advice and with a good sense of humor. He could be an interesting guy to put in my campaign. Now what should his tavern be called and where should I stick it?

I've had this character concept rattling around my head for awhile (the character grew out of an idea I had while re-reading "Othello" a few months back).

Thayed'Albarax (pronounced "ThAy-EED-al-baracks")

Born to the Seren tribes of Argonessen, Theyed was marked early as posessing both a forceful personality and a ferocity that was notable even amoung the Seren. Thayed (Albarax is than name of the CN Red Dragon that acts as the tribe's patron/godhead and all members of the tribe signify their alliegience by adding the suffix "'Albarax" to their names), is the son of the tribe's chieftan and was the leader of many a tribal warband.

In addition to his talents with spear and atl-atl, Thayed discovered sorcerous powers shorty after his trial of manhood.

When a trading expedition jointly funded by several Dragonmarked houses made ovatures to the the collective tribes about setting up a trade enclave on one of Seren's outlying islands, the council of chiefs - advised by their various tribal holy men (who communed with their Draconic masters) - returned with the counter-proposal that a delegation of Serens be sent back to Khorvaire to determine wether or not contact with the "Savages" of Khorvaire would "Pollute" or "Weaken" the Seren culture (the chiefs did not trust these dandified weaklings and their outlandish technology that seemed to do nothing more than allow those too weak to survive in the wild to live).

No one was surprised more than Thayed when he was chosen to be his tribe's "ambassador" to the heathan, but as a duitiful son an faithful worshipper of the Dragons - he went.

That was two years ago.

Thayed'Albarax now finds himself in a strange position, he is vehemently against establishing a permanent enclave on the Sacred Isles, but he is also desperately in love with his life in Sharn and doesn't want to return permanently to Seren. He secretly delights in his status as an outsider in Khorvairian social circles - nothing pleases him as much as attending a foppish grand ball wearing Dracolisk skins and a loincloth or watching the "Civilized" folk quail at tails of life in his homeland.

To complicate matters even more, Thayed is unaware that he has been manipulated from day one by his tribe's patron Alberax to groom him to become an agent of The Chamber.

Ive been toying with a Changling rouge built more as a confidance trixter, no hide or move silently at all, but maxing Disguise and gather info, bluff and diplomasy. He cheerfully pulls bank jobs, by picking a trusted face and walking stright in.

AS for Snaek attack, there is no crewler strike than that from a trusted freind and dealt without warning.

I've an idea to play a half-drow cleric of sovereign host. He is an orphan brought up by sovereign host in Sharn.
Well, I still have some problems with the background but I think I know what I'm doing :)

As it stands, a Human Rogue Karrn expat. His family is noteable, upper middle class back in Karrnath. His father is a successful merchant in Karrlakton, his key product is the family's popular brew of Nightwood Ale, which made their fortune. His grandfather was a legendary bone knight and an instructor at Rekkenmark Academy. His grandfather and great uncles all died heroically, his father and other family members graduated from the Academy and fought with distinction. He failed out of the Academy and did his service on the Talenta Plains, never facing a major battle. After the war, he sought his mother's family in Aundair (she was refugee) and wandered down as far as Sharn, where he turned away from his bourgoius in the north to live the life of an expatriate prodigal son in a cheap Olladra's Kitchen appartment, doing odd jobs for the Boromars and trying to find a way to make his mark in the tradition of his family.

I have pages of backstory written so far, dated back as far as 885YK. I kind of want to post some of it around here. I am playing with the class as well with a few aspects of the story.

My fiancee has a really good character concept I'd like to share with you. I'm excited about her playing this PC in my upcoming Savage Tide campaign.

Her character is a changeling artificer masquerading as an unmarked member of House Cannith. Her supposed connection to such a powerful dragonmarked house is a layer of protection for her human identity, which is in turn a layer of protection for her changeling nature.

The Savage Tide campaign begins in Sasserine, a city which Keith Baker's Eberron adaptation notes place on the southernmost island of the Lhazaar Principalities, close to Q'barra. It has historically been isolated from the influence of the dragonmarked houses, which makes the character's masquerade that much more effective, with no official representatives of House Cannith around to expose her.

We've sketched out a rough backstory for the character: she would have been trained as an artificer by the Fabricator's Guild, but skipped out on the debt she owed to House Cannith for her training. Instead, she made her way to Sasserine, using what she learned about Cannith during her training to assume the identity of an unmarked scion of the house.

This character concept is mostly to coax other players into taking on leadership of the group.

Reigel Golik Kundarak - Dwarf Wizard - Lawful Neutral
Reigel is a well-known adventurer across northern Khorvaire, primarily because of his uniquely efficient, yet inefficient methods. Urgency is a word that he doesn't concern himself with. When presented with a map detailing the workings of a dungeon, he does not gather together a party and rush down there. That would be unsafe. I present to you The Golik Method.

* Prepare a paper for investors, detailing the benefits of excavating said dungeon. Included in this should be a detailed geological survey of the area, references to lore and approximated values of items believed to be in the dungeon, quoting sources where available. Also included is a proposed budget for the venture, and both the minimum and maximum expected costs.

* Having acquired funding from various sources, Golik and his team of miners will travel to the area and, making use of local materials to keep costs low, will mine their way directly to the room considered most likely to hold items of particularly high value. Once the mining crew declare that they are within 10 metres of their target destination, Golik will recruit adventurers for the extraction. Before the adventurers arrive, miners will have created a seal for the opening should one be required.

* Adventurers will not be allowed into the site if they are not wearing skullcaps or other headwear of Eternal Flame and thick hessian overgarments, as prescribed by Golik's standard health and safety agreement. All melee combatants are expected to use a shield to keep the insurance overhead down. Once all pre-adventure checks and safeguards are complete, the adventure begins.

The adventure should progress in a more standard fashion, though Golik will not authorise progress from one room into the next until a suitable seal has been created for the prior accessway. At all stages he will insist that every area of every room be searched thoroughly by his experts for traps and secret doorways.

If a hostile is encountered, DO NOT PURSUE IT. Measures should immediately be taken to ensure that the hostile cannot leave the room; not only could it harm valuable civilians if it escapes, it is most likely to be carrying the primary source of funding for the entire venture. Remember, you have already sealed every known exit; he cannot escape, but he can trap you. Do not be foolish. Seal the room the creature has escaped to until you are prepared to face it again.

When dealing with pit traps, correct procedure is to request that the miners stationed above the dig lower large amounts of spoil down the hole to mostly fill these traps. Occasionally, it may be sensible to not completely fill these traps and instead set them up as bunkers in case the party must take defensive action at a later stage.

Once the dungeon has been completely cleared, the adventure's investors and other sponsored scholars are admitted to take notes. If the dungeon is not deemed to be historically important, the more valuable fittings and larger statues and valuable stones are removed, then the dungeon is filled and caved in.

Suggestions from other party members to deviate from The Golik Method are typically met with curious laughter, with Reigel sticking to the Method regardless of other input. Adventurers who charge ahead are considered unfortunate losses that may be reclaimed at a future juncture, but are sealed into the dungeon until the rest of the group have gradually worked their way to them, as the Method dictates. If they are still alive, that is most fortunate!

I have a character that is a "retired" member of the Royal Eyes of Aundair, a changeling Rogue 4/Bard 2/Warmage2. Currently using him as a royal troubleshooter, he travels with a "minder", a half-orc paladin.
