Hi All,

So in my campaign there's an individual born every generation who has exceptional insight into The Prophecy. Some say she merely has a gift for reading and understanding The Prophecy; others maintain that she receives visions from The Prophecy directly; still others whisper that this "Chosen One" has the power to shape reality itself so that The Prophecy is fulfilled.

Anyway, I am looking to create a 10-level prestige class based on this concept. The specifications are as follows:

Hit Die: d4
BAB: Poor (as Wizard)
Saves: Good Will; Poor Reflex; Poor Fort (as Wizard)
Spells: +1 level of exisiting spellcasting class at every level but 1st

Mostly I am looking for individual class abilities such a class might offer, rather than a full class progression (although if you want to give me one, go for it! :)). Also, thoughts on entry requirements (aside from being the Chosen of The Prophecy)?

Thanks in advance!

I have considered a game where a character had insight into the Prophecy, but thus far I have not been able to come up with game mechanics for it. As far as class abilities for your PrC, I would recommend things like dice rerolls, the ability to cast certain divination spells for free, ect. Check out Fatespinner in the Complete Arcane, and Divine Oracle in the Complete Divine.

What I was going to do with the player who was "Chosen" was this: He would be told some piece of the Prophecy, given clear understanding of what it meant (no riddles), and generally have a pretty good idea what was going to happen. In essence, his power would be to "read the stars" and have the DM tell him the plot of the adventure, in a broad sense. The adventure in question would have to be a simple "if X occurs, then Y will happen, if not then Z will", and thus the point would be to either cause or prevent the foretold event. He would know the outcome of either fork in the Prophecy, but not which would become reality.

The cosmic balance of this would be that he would not be able to tell anyone, or attempt to influence the outcome directly. His gift of foretelling would be null if he were able to do so, and obvious paradox. He can guide others to the outcome he prefers, but in many key encounters (of which he is aware), he is not allowed to intervene. This might mean he could use bull's strength on a fighter in a combat, but not be permitted to cause direct damage, or he might be able to cause or avoid an encounter entirely.

I think this would result in a PC who is forced into that role of the Prophet that most players never get to see from the side of the seer. Always speaking in riddles meant to guide (or trick) others into doing his work for him, he never involves himself directly if he can possibly avoid it. Seeming to get them into more trouble than not, aiding them in minor ways when he is obviously capable of so much more...the players never realize that everything he causes to happen to them is entirely neccessary even if they can't see why.

Most PCs hate this guy, but what will they think of being him?
