Hey guys, I've written a few entries in a diary I imagine my warforged artificer writing when my group members are sleeping / meditating.

I wrote it mostly to my own amusement and wrote down things I've been wondering about that I could imagine my warforged be interested in. I've been thinking about trying to show a change in personality when my group and me get more and more advanced in the story and in higher levels. I have plans for letting my character become a bit obsessed about making up for his weaknesses and continuing to upgrade his body and making items that help him in a multitude of ways.

Also there is a mystery about my character that I know nothing about and that I'm trying to discepher. I imagine my warforged to be one who thinks alot about all sorts of things when he sits alone in the lonely nights waiting for the morning where his companions wake up.

Anywho I wrote this, I haven't corrected the english very much, so I suppose there is grammatical errors and spelling errors, I will correct those when I have more time, but I hope you can look past them and understand what it is I have written.

What I'm interested in is hearing if people would be interested in reading more about this or if I should just go to a corner and keep it for myself, because its written so badly and its too boring to read for anyone else but me! ;)

Here is the link, I think you can rightclick + save as and read it as pdf. I hope you will help me and not kill me!!

Edit: I see the link isn't working, so here is the entire text:

Entry One: Year 998

This is my first entry of a chronicle over my past, my current and my future life. I write now while my companions sleep or meditate by the camp fire. I have been thinking about writing this for a while so that I may read it again in a later unknown future, and perhaps it will help my memory should anything happen to my mind.
I recently received a memory disc from a strange contruct who called himself Kustode, he told me my name was Prince Loadstar, a name I wasn't familiar with before I implanted the memory disc. After it was inserted I can relate to this Prince, and it feels right which is one of the reasons I am writing these chronicles. Another reason is that I know age don't affect me in the same way as they affect my companions and the other creatures in this world. I have read the theory about warforged aging process and that we, in theory, can live forever. I realize I won't be able to remember everything I do forever, so this is also a reason I write.

I want to start by describing how my life started out and as much as I can remember leading up this point of writing.
My name is Braddock after the famous wizard of the same name. My maker was Merrix d'Cannith, I awoke in his study deep beneath Sharn. I was born with an aptitude for magic, but not arcane or divine magic. My creator told me I am what is commonly known as an 'artificer', one who infuses items with magic.
I knew back then that I was not built for heavy melee combat. My body is not physically strong, I have rather quick reflexes and ranged combat comes easy to me. I suppose I am intelligent and have a strong personality compared to most of those warforged I have encountered.
I came to consciousness in the year 996, so that makes me two years old. I never saw or felt the Last War as many others did, I can therefore see no difference in how people behave or look. I see sorrowfilled faces, I see pain in the eyes of veterans, I see hate towards myself eventhough I never participated in the war. I know they don't hate my personally but my race as a whole.

I do not know with what purpose I was created, I was never told by my master, it was as if he set me to read and copy books so I would know the world. I got to read about all sorts of things. Feary tales, magic, religion, the planes of existence, the many stories about adventoures. But he never once told me my purpose, and I have often wondered about it. Why was I made? Do I have a higher purpose? I feel no connection to any of the gods of Eberron, nor do I feel the need to settle down and work in a shop with my crafting skills. I feel connected to my companions and to our travels together. I have seen a lot of the world already I feel, but I know that the amount I have travelled is but a fraction of Eberron. Is my purpose to travel the world?
I have found an interest in discovering more about my race. I know we were created by House d'Cannith, but did they really come up with the designs themselves? And howcome I have a mind of my own? Do I have a soul? And if I have a soul, from where does it come? Where do the souls of my companions come from? Are they one and the same? Perhaps my purpose is to discover answers to these questions, I certainly feel... curious about them.

I seem to have gone offtrack of what I wanted to write, so to return I never served in the Last War, I was copying books and scrolls for my tutor and his pupils. I never received combat training, instead I received magical training. I was taught how to bind magic into mundane items and making them potent. I can infuse items temporarily or permanently. However when I make the infusions permanent I find that my spirit weakens for a time. It is a strange feeling, it is as if I bind my own lifeforce together with magic. Is this lifeforce connected with ones soul? And in that case, is there a limit to this life energy? If there is limits, are those limits able to expand? I feel that the more I experience, the more I use my magic, the more permanent items can I create.
I'm sidetracking again now, I see that I am easily distracted by questions when I think a bit. I must be more aware, since I am on guard duty.

It has been a while since my master died and it has been a very confusing time, so I cannot account accurately for all the exciting adventures I witnessed, so it will be brief.

I remember finding my friend and master murdered on a bridge in Sharn, I caught the murderer after he killed him, we engaged in a brief battle, since I was no match for him, I was lucky that the formidable valenar female elf warrior, Selene, and the strange blueskinned female kalashtar, Iatari, with her strange mindmagic came along or I would have perished surely. Hmm, what happens when warforged 'die'? Can we in truth die? Or what happens. I have no intentions of finding out, I find it a frightening thought to not live. Will my soul go to the same place that the souls of humans, elves and kalashtar goes? And what is a kalashtar? Iatari looks human ignoring her blue skin, is she a different race or is she the same race? Questions that I need find answers for in time.
Anywho the murderer fled from us, and to my luck their paths were the same as mine, we decided to team up and go together. I found only questions in this adventure that I will call: Introduction to d'Cannith. We were tasked to help House d'Cannith location part of a greater schematic. I have no idea what the schematic is capable of making, but I would like to find out. This task took us below Sharn into the Cogs, where we encountered two different cults that I have only briefly found mention of in the books I had read, they were: Cult of the Dragon Below and some followers of Blood of Vol. Two interesting religions when you think about it, but I will not go into detail with them here.
We succeeded in recovering the schematic, but a strange thing happened on the mission. We found a hidden d'Cannith laboratory down there, and I just happened to know how to gain entry to it, and where to find a secret vault that contained the schematic. Furthermore there was two dog homunculuses whom I could control and order around. They did not allow anyone else inside but me. It was odd, I have no idea why that happened or how I knew the things I knew. I have noticed that I am built slightly different from other warforged. I am built more 'human' in appearance if you disregard the mithral platings I have. I can make more facial expressions than other warforged. And I have more grace than them, but I am not as strong or tough as they are.
Hm, I started comparing myself to others again, I wonder why I do that.

After we recovered the schematic, we were tasked to travel to what was former Cyre, and enter a facility House d'Cannith had there to recover next part of the schematic. At this point of time we had a male traveling with us, I have sadly enough forgotten his name. As it was we were to take the lightning rail out there and meet up with a male human who could transport us close to the fog barrier with his earth elemental bound vehicle. That was exciting! I really must say, to bind an elementals essence in items, I wonder how powerful those items can become! Given the chance I would like to know how. I am sure Selene and Luthien would be pleased to have elemental bound weapons and armor! I have read that the gnomes of Zilarge can do this, I must see to it that I ask them about this.
In any case, as thrilling as the ride was, getting through the fog was anything but exciting. It was dense, I lost all sense of direction and I guess it was mere luck we got through it. I assume that the magical properties in old-Cyre is the reason the many corpses we found never stopped bleeding. It was interesting seeing this, I felt my lifeforce diminish a tiny bit when I was inside, and I noticed the cuts and bruishes on my companions didn't heal at all. Perhaps some part of Dolurrh got bound to Cyre through a failed experiment?
We encountered a few strange aberrations in there which was hostile towards us, so it was put down. I would like to study this phenomenon some more given the chance, maybe it is possible to heal the land through some artifact or magical ritual? But first I think it is wisest to discover the reason for the happening. It would be exellent if it was possible to see back in time, or travel. However I find that unlikely as I have not yet encountered a book that described the phenomenon 'time' itself. I think there is more possibility of finding books or reports that tell us about some experiments that could be the reason for it.

Perhaps my purpose in life is to be curious and discover this? Could this be the reason for why Merrix d'Cannith created and designed me? To build items that can help me, or him, discover the reason for the cataclysm? It seems my writing only brings more questions, and it is my hope that when I read this in the future that I have found answers or clues to all my questions.

I see my companions are waking up. I will write next entry next night.
Entry Two: Year 998

After yet another day of traveling, my companions have fallen asleep again. I wonder how it is to sleep or meditate? I tried to meditate once, but I do not think I succeeded in the same way as Iatari and Selene. Luthien just sleeps soundly, making odd noices every now and then. Maybe she is dreaming of something grand or mundane? I should like to dream once. I wonder if it is possible to enter another persons dreams? Dal Qour supposedly holds access to other peoples dreams, if it was possible to travel to that realm and then enter a dream? I wonder how it would affect the dreamer.

To continue from Entry One, we gained access to the d'Cannith vault and encountered some strange things. I cannot begin to explain now as it would likely fill my remaining parchments, so instead I want to sum it up to: d'Cannith knows how to defend their facilities. When we found the schema, a regiment of the Emerald Claw had caught up with us, not wanting another fight with them, we fled through a chimney and made a run for the fog border where our guide was waiting. During this run we unfortunately lost the male member of our group, as it was back then, to their arrows. We got away from them in the fog, and made a run for it.

So we were on our way back to Sharn when we encountered some strange zombie who was infested with strange worms. We decided to investigate this, and we entered a village where the leader of it asked us to help. I forgot the circumstances, but we found out there was a cult in some mine close to the city. So we forced our way there. We had tried with diplomacy but the head of the miners was not interested in us exploring his mine, so we took him hostage and found an old temple. In that temple the cult was located.
They had some strange creatures defending them which took out Selene rather quickly. I had infused my body and shield with defensive magic, and I was thus able to keep the cultists we met away from me. I was fooled into a trap where I encountered twentytwo of the cultists. I was sure my life would be over, but it turned out that through my defensive infusions and some offensive infusions that worked specifically well against humans, I could hold them at bay and eventually I managed to kill every last one of them. Iatari and Selene came later and helped take out some archers who had been shooting at me, apparantly heedless of their own companions. I figure they are what you would call evil people? But we managed to shut the cult down, get information through their leaders diary. It did not contain much about the worms, and to this date we still have not found out what, why, and where about the worms. Down in the temple which was split up into three sections and split up by three doors. Iatari recognized one of the doors as access to Khyber, another was a maze and the final door was where the cultist lived. We tried to enter the maze, but it was a mistake.
In the maze we encountered strange creatures with long tentacles, but still human in appearance, and some strange humanoids with two mouths. We managed to keep them at bay, but was chased into a room that had eyes on the walls, pillars and cieling. There we met a wizard who summoned some powerful animals, yet again we somehow managed through luck and trickery to kill him. My experience with meeting people of 'evil' allignment thus far has always resulted in violence and death. Is this the trade of adventurers? To slay every evil being? Can nothing be solved through diplomacy? Maybe not, I must find a way to enhance myself inorder to deal with evil.
We told the leader of the village what we found out and he promised to look into this worm thing and contact us when he knew more.

When we got back to Sharn, it didn't take many weeks to get involved in new business. This time it was a murder case near our house that took us out on a new quest. Some changeling was murdering people who had once had a circus of peace during the last war because an animal had run wild and killed her children. She was not compensated for this loss and the people of the circus did not really pay her much attention. I figure that humanoids have a distrust and dislike for changelings? Do the humanoids find changelings evil because they are able to shift appearance? Or do they only fear changelings because they are different from themselves? Maybe this is why they do not like warforged either. We are vastly different from humanoids, but then again why must your 'shell' matter? Is it not the essence of the soul and the deeds you commit that decide who and what you should be accounted for? Should not your purpose with life determine who you are? I can understand humanoids hating those that do you wrong or who do evil acts, good acts of compassion is what people cherish, so when I commit good acts should I not get cherished?
I do not fault humanoids for thinking in this way, I suppose they need time to adapt.
In anycase we caught the changeling and after hearing her story, we decided she had deserved revenge, and we let her go.

After a week or so an agency of Breland called: The Dark Lantern contacted us and we were tasked to chase one of their agents gone renagade. He turned out to be a vampire, and it was a thrilling chase on horses. The chase took us through many hundred of miles, I even think we managed to get over a thousand miles away from Sharn and Breland before we trapped him in a corner. We were to retrieve a sword he had stolen, the sword is evil and whispers to humans. The vampire died, and we traveled back home. It was on this journey we met up with the female human Luthien who now travels with us.

Just before we caught up with the vampire we were chasing him on a lightning rail, the lightning rail got assualted by warforged who followed one called: The Lord of Blades. For some reason they were interested in my head, they did not care much for the rest of me. I have thought about that since I got the memory disc, maybe it is this they need? This disc and the information it contains? Maybe for some reason the disc does not fit into all warforged heads. Might I have a different purpose than being curious and discovering truths?
Luckily though my head is still on my torso and we managed to escape from the warforged.

Our latest adventure, from which we now travel back from, was also our next one. We had originally decided not to give the sword back as it was evil and could perhaps take control of a weak minded individual. But through unlucky circumstances we lost the blade. I still do not quite understand how, but Selene got charmed and threw the blade out a window where some people caught it and teleported away.
We have yet to find it and them again. Maybe we got cheated by some not part of The Dark Lantern... it will have to be another time. I do not deem it as important right now.

Our next adventure was to meet up with a wizard in a keep who supposedly knew something about the zombie worms explained above. We traveled to the keep and found it under siege by lizard men. I had just before that enchanted Selene's weapon and crafted a wand that can cast deadly fire rays. We fought our way into the keep, helped them reinforce it and fought back the lizardmen assault. Here I was positioned in the top of the keep to kill lizardmen with my new wand. I find it a thrilling way to combat, and I would like to become better with aiming. I have taken up practice when my companions sleep.
After the battle, Iatari charmed the lizardmen to take us to their camp. Some humans had apparantly being infesting their eggs or stealing them. And it was for this reason they attacked the keep. As an act of vengeance. We found out that their camp was dominated by a half-dragons. I should like to see a dragon once. I did not think they existed until I saw the half-breeds. What a gruesome sight! Such physical power through that blood! I wonder how strong a full-blood dragon is... However as it has been earlier, the way to deal with these evil people is to kill them, so Selene and Luthien did just that, I helped with my wand and Iatari used her strange mindmagic on the half-dragons.
After we killed the two of them, we were allowed into the lizardmens nest as there should be a dragon egg there ! It was not a dragon egg though, it was filled with the deadly worms who turn fleshlings into zombies. I am immune to this through my nature, I appreciate this. I should hate to turn into a zombie. Apparently they have no intelligence and no consciouss mind. I should not like to end the purpose of my life by worms.
I suppose the worms were ment to infest the lizardmen egg and make a small army of zombies, but a strange encounter happened that countered this. Iatari sensed a great evil coming, and begged us to hide and let her deal with it. So we hided, and indeed it was a being of great power and evil that came. It was a male who could shift into and out of swarms of demon bats, ontop of that you could feel the power he commanded. Clearly this was evil incarnate and should be destroyed like the rest. But I had promised Iatari I would not do anything. So I did not.
The male called Iatari his sister, and asked her to follow him to his master. Iatari looked confused and did not know what he was talking about. However she did not want to follow him and he was disappointed, but destroyed the fake dragon egg, sat fire to the water where the lizardmen had their eggs and shifted back to his swarm form and left. I guess he was not part of the scheme dealing with these worms.
We later on asked Iatari who that male was, but she did not know what to say. She was at a loss, but she told us she was the sole survivor of a village destroyed by demons. The demons had left her alone and killed everyone else in her village which was located in the Demon Wastes. Maybe she harbors a demon bound to her soul? Much like magic is bound with lifeforce to contain it, perhaps the demon is bound by Iatari's lifeforce. I trust Iatari, we have been through a lot, and I do not think she is evil, it does not hurt to watch her closely. I wonder if she can draw upon the demons power assuming she has one bound to her? If that is the case, I wonder if the process of binding demons is the same as binding elementals? Perhaps you can bind demons and angels to items and harness their power in specific ways? Or are the beings too powerful and sentient to let that happen?
If it is possible to bind demons and celestials, maybe it is possible to bind everything that has a soul to items? I find that a disturbing thought. Do elementals have souls? If not, maybe that is why it works, if yes then I fear for what you can accomplish with magic. I should not like to be bound to an inert item and lose my freedom. Maybe this is what happens when warforged are created? Are our vessels created first and then the creator finds a soul that he binds to it? Or does the creator forges pull a soul from a plane somewhere and place it in the body of the warforged? Could I have a human or elven soul? I should like to find more information about creation of warforged.

My companions are waking up, tomorrow will be the last night out traveling before we reach Sharn again, and I have a lot of items to prepare for our adventure to Clockwork Citadel.

Entry Three: Year 998

My thoughts have been circling around the subject of souls and binding. I need to find information about this.

I have so much write but so few parchments and ink left. So I fear this entry will be a short one and I will try to focus on explaining what happened with after we encountered Iatari's demonic brother. Selene and Luthien found in a nearby cave the construct Kustode who gave me the memory disc. He did not want me to repair his damages, he had been sent out to find me and give me this memory disc, so that I might return and save my people. I still find it odd to hear 'my people'. I know nothing about leading anyone. Apparently it is a citadel which is mobile, but is currently stuck in mountains. It was built by Merrix d'Cannith. I am supposed to be controlling and steering that citadel. Is this a clue to my purpose? Am I supposed to be controlling a mobile fort for Merrix d'Cannith? And keeping my people safe?
I know there is a portal to the plane Darn-Vih, plane of order. It is supposed to be there you can find answers to questions about mechanics and technolical knowledge. I also know that Merrix keeps research from his travels in Xen'Drik in the citadel and it is quite valuable for House d'Cannith I assume. Perhaps I can find knowledge of the creation of warforged in the citadel? I have begun to trust House d'Cannith less and less, I do not think I want to give up this citadel once I see what is wrong and if it is fixable.

I know the expression 7+3 is important in some way, and I know the word Loadstar is important aswell. I have found mention of it earlier I remember, Operation Loadstar. I get more and more sure that Merrix d'Cannith has constructed some sort of plan where I am included. If only I could figure out what and why I might be able to figure out my purpose in life. I have thought of changing my name to Loadstar should I find my purpose in Clockwork Citadel. I know warforged pick names for themselves from what they are exellent at, I simply picked mine because I read a lot and Braddoc d'Teadara read a lot.

These three entries should help myself remember my deeds in my future carreer, I will write more when I receive more parchment and ink and something to write about. Until then I shall practice my aim.

The reason for why it isn't very detailed in the adventures is that I just wrote it all today, and we've been playing for nearly two years on this campaign (long breaks etc.), so the adventures described are pretty old. So my memory sadly fails me a bit :(
