| Wraith42802-13-05, 07:25 PM | Tried to search on this but was told there was a technical problem so I thought I'd post. Did anyone else notice some oddities with the dates at the beginning of City of Towers. Prologue starts at Olarune 19, 994 YK Chapter 1 starts at Dravago 22, 996 YK ...and yet in Chapter one it says "It had been over a year since the battle of Keldan Ridge..." Is it just me or has it really be just over 2 years. Olarune 994 to Olarune 996 is two years plus a couple of months to get to Dravago. What have Daine, Pierce, Lei and Jode been doing to 2+ years before they get to Sharn. They spend a couple of months in the Mornland but does it really take them one and a half years to travel to Sharn? They way the novel reads its hasn't been 2+ years since the day of Morning. Am I reading something wrong? Thanks, Wraith428 |
| Blizzard_Bobsan02-16-05, 08:42 AM | This is a very good question. I haven't read the book yet (Amazon's shipping to my country takes time), but in the sample chapter, there indeed seems to be an error - more than two years have passed since the Day of Mourning... edit: I've read the book now, but I still have no answer to your question. |
| Gez02-21-05, 06:04 AM | Two years is "over one year." :P Keith could also have written "it has been several long weeks" or "more than a handful of seconds" and it would still be true. :D |
| Blizzard_Bobsan02-21-05, 06:22 AM | The real question is what they have been doing these 2 years. They spent several months looking for survivors in the Mournland, then what? |
| Bluebrush02-21-05, 06:54 AM | Getting back out of the mournland, working to acquire supplies for their next foray into the lost nation? Levelling up? Crafting magic items? |

We figured out the time period, and it took us around 8 monthes all told (including some actual adventuring). Daine and company didn't have horses, and they had a 1/2ling with them. It's amazing how long things take on foot. |

They probably made several forays in to the shattered country, taking a several weeks between visits to rest. |
| Doctor X02-23-05, 03:39 PM | Remember that they did all this walking on foot. It's very likely that when they went into the Mournland (or while they were coming out), they were lost in the Dead-Grey Mist for some time. Also, Sharn is a little over two thousand miles from the Cyran/Brelish border, and that's in a straight line. Following the Orien trade roads, the distance would be even longer. A trip like that on foot would likely take quite a while. |
