Eberron, with it's cinematic style, lends itself to the conversion of various characters from poular culture to D&D. This thread is for the compilation of such classic characters, or their very close analogs. With that, I give to you those all-stars of comicdom...Calvin and Hobbes! Full Stats On Request.

Calvin- CN human Illusionist1Artificer 7/Rogue 1 (Forever Young Template, with credit to whomever)

Hobbes- Inexplicably N Zakya Rakshasa.

Please, Please, Post!

Indiana Jones: Human Bard 4 / Rogue 4 / Extreme Explorer 5I'd probably just go straight Rogue to start, with the Education feat. Then Extreme Explorer, of course. ;)

And Hobbes isn't a Rakshasa. He's Calvin's uniquely shaped homunculus! ;)

Okay, enough being all critical.
--
Victor Frankenstein is an Artificer 6 who somehow discovered the secrets of Incarnate Construct (the spell from Savage Species, I don't remember what spell level it is, or anything, though, so I don't know how he casted it, or if he can).

I dunno, Indy is a professor in his downtime... that speaks to me of a CHA based class...

Vic Frankenstein obviously had access to an Eldritch machine!

About Victor Frankenstein... I don't think an eldritch machine is what he used, or the spell from Savage Species. In Mongoose Publishing's Ultimate Feats there's a great one called:

Create Wondrous Creature (Item Creation)

You know how to create aberrations, beasts, magical beasts, monstrous humanoids, and plants.

Prerequisites: Knowlege (arcana) or Knowledge (psionics), Knowledge (nature), Spellcaster level 5+ or Manifester level 5+

Benefit: You can create any aberration, beast, magical beast, monstrous humanoid, or plant for which you meet the prerequisites. The creature created is not necessarily under your control. To create a creature you need access to a lab, similar to an alchemist's lab, of at least 500gp value. The creation of a creature involves taking a similar creature or creatures and subjecting them to various spells and grafting techniques. There is a chance the experiment will be a failure. To create a creature you must succeed both a Knowledge (arcana) or Knowledge (psionics) and a Knowledge (nature) check (DC 20 + CR of attempted creature). You may not Take 10 on these rolls. However, you get a +1 circumstance bonus for every attempt at a specific creature you have previously made, whether successful or not. If both Knowledge skill checks are failed, the creature dies a horrible death. If one Knowledge skill check fails, and one Knowledge skill check succeeds, the resulting creation is horribly deformed in some way and is hostile towards you.

The base price of a creature is the challenge rating squared times 1,000gp (CR x CR x 1,000gp). Creating a creature takes 1 day for every 1,000gp in its base price. To create a creature, you must spend one-twenty-fifth of its base price in experience points and use up raw materials costing half of its base price.

The minimum caster level for creating a creature is (Unfortunately, my copy of Ultimate Feats is missing whatever number goes here) times the Challenge Rating of the intended creature. The appropriate spells must be used in order to add extraordinary (Ex), spell-like (Sp), and/or supernatural (Su) abilities.

Special: If a charm monster spell is cast every day of the creation process, a successfully created creature will be in permanent servitude to you. If a limited wish is used in the creation process a successfully created creature will be in permanent servitude to you and will even follow a life goal, determined by you, after you have died. If a wish is used in the creation process, a successfully created creature and its descendants will follow a life goal, determined by you, even after you have died.

Handy little feat...

Actually I was thinking more like:
Hannibal: Changeling Fighter/Rogue (Smith always uses disguises)
Templeton: Human Rogue (Face is a procurement specialist)
Murdock: Half-elf Rogue Dragonmark House Lyrandar (to pilot those airships)
BA: Warforged Barbarian/Artificer (BA is always constructing things as well as being a fighter type)

We did this one in another thread-

Fry: Human Commoner (w/very high CON score)
Leela: Human (templated: mutant or somesuch) monk
Bender: Warforged Rogue (w/exceptional STR score)
Professor: Human Artificier
Hermes: Human, Expert: Accountant/Expert: Legendary limbo champion
Amy: Human aristocrat
Dr. Zoidberg: Chull, Expert: Heal (takes major penalties)
Zap Branagan: Human Paladin/Marshal (Very high CHA score, low wisdom and intelligence)

We debated this for a couple of posts on the old thread- Fry is straightforward enough, commoner seems like the perfect class, and by all rights he should be dead.

Leela I originally had as some kind of reduced cyclops. It's easier, and more accurate to the show, to call her a templated human. Monk simply because of her martial arts training and frequent use thereof.

Bender I orginally had as a fighter/rogue, but it was pointed out that his fighting ability is more due to his strength and robot nature.

Professor- self explanitory
Hermes- same

Amy- in the old post, it was argued that as she is initially stated to be an engineering student, she should have maybe an artificier or expert component. I disagree, as beyond the mentioning of it, she never uses or brings it up.

Zoidberg- best one in the list, IMHO. Can't get much more direct than a chull.

Zap Branagan: I realize there are a bunch of things you could justify Zap as being, but I felt that he exemplifies the Lawful Stupid paladin, with a little bit of marshal thrown in. I say high CHA score because that is the only way for him to be able to maintain his position and be routinely thought of as a hero, despite massive and continual blunders resulting in fatalities on a large scale. Not to mention his hatred of the neutral planet. Or defeating the kill bots by sending wave after wave of men at them until they reached their kill limit.

Wouldn't it be an int based class? A professor is more about research than teaching. And I don't know about you, but I think most of my professor has a charisma of 8, as they often make a semi-interesting topic mind bogglingly boring. (Could be due to the fact i'm in engineering)

Considerable d20 Modern discussions of Dr. Jones have always placed him as a character with a LOT of levels. He seems to possess elements of the Smart, Charismatic, Dedicated, Tough, and Fast classes. In D&D terms, I'd make him a rogue 4/ranger 3/Extreme Explorer. There are some bardic elements (bardic knowledge, EWP whip, knowledge skills out the wazzoo), but spellcasting doesn't fit Indiana that well, IMO (hence stopping ranger before the spellcasting kicks in).

Action points, on the other hand, fit Indy like a glove.

Hitchhikers Guide to the Multiverse

Author Dent: Expert 3/ Rogue1 (picked up by the end of the serize)
Ford Prefect: Bard 15 (possibly rogue, Bard semed to fit in more with the hitchhiker theme)
Zaphod: Arstocrat 6/ Rogue 2
Trillian: Expert 2/Wizard 4
Marvin: Warfoged Artificer 2

The Guide would provide a +10 bonus to all Knowledge (The Planes ) ckecks, yet would contian little/no info on the prime.

A series of teleport gates have been discovered by a nation of Khorvaire. Built by an ancient race(Giants?) they connect all of Eberron. An evil race(The Dreaming Dark) who poccess people and have psionic powers is encountered and they wish to conquer all of Khorvaire. Only Sg 1 can stop them.

O'Neill - (Human CG fighter6/Rouge4) A veteran special forces soldier from the war specialised in infiltration missions. He leads SG1

Carter - (Human NG Artifier6/Fighter3/Psion1) Carter is a machanical genious and is on the team to study the Artifacts left by the Ancients. Not only is she the brains of the team she is a trained soldier as well and has some psionic ability from having briefly served as host for a good Quori Spirit. She seeks to prove herself in the male dominated military

Tealc - (Human LG Monk10) Tealc was raised to be a fanatical soldier of the Inspired but rebelled against the false gods and now strives to free his people
(Tealc simbiot grants him minor regenration and bonuses against diease and poison however if anything happens to it he suffers 1 point of constitution damage for every he goes without his simbiot. He remains silent unless he has something to say even when he talks his statments are short and to the point

Dr. Jackson (Human NG Bard10) Dr. Jackson is a disgraced Archaeologist who was thrown out of his university over his wild claims about the Ancients. On the team he purpose is to analyze the ancient Artifacts and to negotiate with people the team discovers. He often clashes with O'Neill.

So thats my idea for SG1
