Color Coded [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-20-07, 08:43 PM Just kinda wondering, is it just me or are the Eberron books color-coded?

This is my understanding:

Orange: The Forge of War, Magic of Eberron, Faiths of Eberron
Blue: Five Nations, Secrets of Sarlona, Secrets of Xen'drik, Sharn: CoT
Green: Explorer's Handbook, Dragonmarked, Player's Guide to Eberron
Red: Campaign Setting

Red makes sense, to seperate the main book from others.

Blue makes sense; places (xend'rik, sarlona, city, nations)

Green sorta makes sense; for players (guide to eberron, dragonmarked houses) but it seems Explorer's Handbook is for DMs, although it can be argued that Player's Guide to Eberron should be too

Orange seems to be global things (magic, faith), but Forge of War doesn't fit...

Is it just me or do they try to follow a theme? what are your thoughts?

06-21-07, 03:11 AM Orange is not global things, it's History. Faith and Magic are historical in this world, so that makes sense.

06-21-07, 05:52 AM Green is concepts. They give archetypes for characters as well as a series of backgrounds and ways to fit yourself in to the world. The major powers of the game and the ways to immerse yourself in it. The fact that it is the age of the explorer, the one who travels and gallivants around is the 'hero' of this world rather than the usual sword-swinger. Those of the dragonmarked houses are essentially sort of a nobility, born to power through bloodline and each having a strong command of the economy. The players guide shows a series of concepts for a character of Eberron and the heroes that would wander it.

06-21-07, 07:30 AM I don't think there's a hard and fast color scheme, But if you were to force one:

Green = people
Blue = places
Orange = Misc. (ideas, history, practices, etc.)

What color is Dragons of Eberron? According to this scheme it should be orange.

Also, I thought Sharn was black.

I'm still not convinced that they aren't. Truthfully, I found Explorer's Handbook to be something that's more fitting for a blue cover rather than green, but given the nature of the title alone, it would fit into the green category.

I wonder if City of Stormreach will have a black cover like Sharn.
