| Siberys12-25-04, 10:10 PM | The Complete Arcane in Eberron Warlock: Warlocks can be found in and around the Demon Wastes and the Shadow marches, where fiends and other supernatural forces are common. The Blackscale Lizardfolk of Q’barra occasionally have warlocks, where they are regerded as “The Chosen of Rhashaak” and are greatly respected. There are occasionally warlocks from The Eldeen reaches, and these are often connected to the Greensingers. Warmage: The warmage was a product of the Last War; They were mainly used by Aundair and Cyre. Schools similar to Tarth Moorda can be found in mountains like the Starpeaks or Blackcaps. Any in Cyre were destroyed on the Day of Mourning. Wu Jen: In Eberron, Wu Jen are known as Magus, and possess a more western style. Wu Jen spells may be used by sorcerers and Wizards as well. Taboos are excluded, and Watchful spirit is renamed Elemental Prescience. They often are seen helping druidic sects such as the Wardens of the woods. They tend to be earthly and pragmatic, but extremely religious. Shugenja: Though not in the Complete Arcane, if I retooled the Wu Jen, I should retool the Shugenja, right? They are known as “Savants”, and have access to all Sorcerer spells as Divine spells. Any Divination, Enchantment, Illusion spell or spell with the air descriptor is an Air spell, a Transmutation or Abjuration spell, or a spell with the earth descriptor is an Earth spell, an Evocation or Conjuration spell (other than Conjuration [Healing]), or a spell with the fire descriptor is a fire spell, and any spell with the Enchantment, Divination, or Conjuration [Healing], or a spell with the water descriptor are water spells. The rest are “All” The Schools are: Air: 0 Mage Hand 1 Obscuring Mist 2 Wind Wall 3 Gaseous Form 4 Air Walk 5 Control Winds 6 Chain Lightning 7 Control Weather 8 Whirlwind 9 Etherealness Earth: 0 Mending 1 Magic Stone 2 Soften Earth and Stone 3 Stone Shape 4 Spike Stone 5 Wall of Stone 6 Stoneskin 7 Earthquake 8 Iron Body 9 Imprisonment Fire: 0 Flare 1 Burning Hands 2 Produce Flame 3 Resist Energy (Fire) 4 Wall of Fire 5 Fire Shield 6 Fire Seeds 7 Fire Storm 8 Incedinary Cloud 9 Meteor Swarm Water: 0 Ray of Frost 1 Obscuring Mist 2 Fog Cloud 3 Water Breathing 4 Control Water 5 Ice Storm 6 Cone of Cold 7 Acid Fog 8 Horrid Wilting 9 Storm of Vengeance Savants, in Eberron, Most likely are either ascetics or scholars who believe The world to have been once like Kythri; A churning chaos of the elements. Others may fill a role similar to Magus. Complete Arcane PrCs Acolyte of the Skin: Agents of the Cults of the Dragon Below Fascinated with fiends. Alienist: Worshipers of the Dealkyr, who seek perfection through imitating their works. Argent Savant: Elite Spellcasters from Aundair, though this is not a requirement. Blood Magus: Elite of the Blood of Vol. Effigy Master: Often found in Cannith Workshops. Artificers may take this PrC without Simulacrum on their infusions list. Warforged seem drawn to this PrC, Vieing it like a way to find their place in the world. Followers of the Lord of Blades often take this PrC, seeing effigies as perfect construct weapons to use against fleshies. Elemental Savant: Another Spellcaster often used by Aundair. Occasionally a gnome who survives a brush with a bound elemental takes this class. Enlightened Fist: Monk followers of Aureon Fatespinner: Fortune-Tellers from Sharn. Geometer: Elite of House Sivis, or scholars of the Draconic Prophecy. Green star Adept: rather than starmetal, a few variations of this class exist in Eberron: Byeshk Adept: Found In the Eldeen Reaches or Droaam, A Byeshk Adept forever seeks to increase his power through Byeshk. Their Natural/unarmed attacks are considered Byeshk for the purposes of overcoming DR Flametouched Adept: Often the Elite in Thrane or Silver Flame forces, Flametouched Adepts have a +1 bonus to overcom Spells, spell-like abilities, and supernatural abilities of Evil outsiders, and his natural/unarmed attacks are considered good for the purposes of overcoming DR. They must worship the Silver Flame to qualify for this PrC. Siberys Adept: Through consuming bits of metal fallen from Siberys (Treat as starmetal), a Siberys Adept can increase the power of his Dragonmark, increasing his effective caster level by +1 for all Dragonmark abilities. Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil: Another common Aundairian Spellcaster from the Last War. Mage of the Arcane Order: There are two versions of this PrC Mage of Aureon: Member of the Esoteric order of Aureon. You must have Spell Focus (abjuration, Divination, evocation, or transmutation), or be a specialist of one of those schools to qualify for this class. Spells from the Spellpool must be of one of these schools or universal. To get a spell of a different school, an extra 2 levels of Spellpool debt is required, but spells of the schools abjuration, divination, evocation, or transmutation are either Enhanced or Extended (Casters Choice). Arcanist of Starlight: Member of the Guild of Starlight and Shadows. You must have Spell Focus (conjuration, enchantment, illusion, or transmutation), or be a spcialist of one of these schools to qualify for this class. Spells from the Spellpool must be of one of these schools or universal. To get a spell of a different school, an extra 2 levels of Spellpool debt is required, but spells of the schools conjuration, enchantment, illusion, or transmutation are either Enhanced or Extended (Casters Choice). Master Transmogrifist: Changeling mages (though rare) will often take this PrC. Another common Aundarian war-arcanist Mindbender: Many of the lords of Dust are Magical Mindbenders. The Inspired and The Dreaming Dark have Psionic Mindbender agents, and the occasional Kalashtar is a Mindbender (Though they are loathe to rob a creature of it’s own free will, seeing that as the way of the inspired). Wyrmsong Seeker / Seeker of the Song: Rather than a song, The Primal Music is the sound of the battle between Khyber and Siberys – a music that continues to this day. The organization is known as the “Wyrmsong Seekers”, or, the most common, “the Seekers of the Song”. Their insignia is a silver arc, a brown line, and a black circle over a field of cerulean blue. Sublime Chord: Elite Zil Bards; occasionally from House Sivis. Xen’Drik Arcanamach (Suel Acanamach) : Must Learn Ancient Giant (Cyclopean) instead of Ancient Suloise, and study the “Theu’ill Ashask Arkanae”, or “Grimoire of Xen’Drik Arcanum” . The perfect mix of Arcane and Physical, most of these will either be found in Breland (Because it’s so close to Xen’Drik) or Aundair (because of it’s general hunger for magic). House Orien Astralanae (Wayfarer Guide) : Rather than joining the Wayfarer’s Union, must belong to House Orien. Often used by nobles who simply wish to dodge the lightning rail and it’s possible dangers. Wild Mage: Often found near Manifest Zones to Kythri, they may gather in the Demon Wastes, Shadow Marches, or even the Eldeen Reaches or Q’barra. A select few truly draw their power from Xoriat and are heads in Cults of the Dragon Below. NEW PrC: The Dweomerlist In The Complete Arcane, magical tournaments are detailed, and one is very popular: The Dweomerlist, a magical duel. The Dweomerlist has trained to be specialized at nonlethal magical duels, though they can defend in a lethal duel quite well. HD: d6 Requirements Skills: Concentration 9 ranks, Knowledge (arcana or religion) 9 ranks, Spellcraft 9 ranks Feats: Energy Admixture, Energy Substitution, Nonlethal Substitution, Spell Focus (Evocation) Special: Must have participated in a nonlethal spell duel at least once before. Class Skills Bluff (Cha), Concentration (Con), Knowledge (arcana or religion, as the choice that allowed the characte to qualify) (Int), Sense Motive (Wis), Spellcraft (Int) Skill points at each level: 2+int Modifier LevelBABF/R/WSpecialSpells 1+1 +0/+2/+2 Sudden Nonlethal 1/day --- 2+2 +0/+3/+3 Sudden Energy Substitution 1/day +1 existing class 3+3 +1/+3/+3 --- --- 4+4 +1/+4/+4 Sudden Nonlethal 2/day +1 existing class 5+5 +1/+4/+4 Duelward --- 6+6 +2/+5/+5 Sudden Energy Admixture 1/day +1 existing class 7+7 +2/+5/+5 Sudden Nonlethal 3/day --- 8+8 +2/+6/+6 --- +1 existing class 9+9 +3/+6/+6 Sudden Energy Substitution 2/day --- 10+10 +3/+7/+7 Sudden Nonlethal 3/day,Sudden Energy admixture 2/day +1 existing class Class Features Weapon and Armor Proficiency A Dweomerlist gains no proficiency with any weapons or armor. Spells per Day/Spells Known At every even-numbered level, a Dweomerlist gains new spells per day (and spells known, if applicable) as though she had also gained a level in the spellcasting class to which she belonged before adding the prestige class levels. She does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained. If you had more than one spellcasting class, you must choose which one to add that level to for purposes of determining spells/day and spells known. Sudden Nonlethal Starting at 1st level, 1/day a dweomerlist may apply the effects of Nonlethal Substitution without increasing it’s level or casting time or specially preparing it ahead of time. Every third level (4th, 7th, 10th), the Dweomerlist may use this ability one extra time a day. Sudden Energy Substitution Starting at 2nd level, 1/day a dweomerlist may apply the effects of Energy Substitution without increasing its level or casting time or specially preparing it ahead of time. At 9th level, a Dweomerlist may use this ability 2/day. Duelward At 4th level, the Dweomerlist permenantly adds Duelward to his spellbook, spells known, or spell list (or any combination of the three) if she can cast spells of at least 5th level. If she already has Duelward, she may choose any one 5th level spell from her class list(s) instead, but Duelward becomes available to all of her spellcasting classes (not the chosen spell). Sudden Energy Admixture Starting at 6th level, 1/day a dweomerlist may apply the effects of Energy Admixture without increasing its level or casting time or specially preparing it ahead of time. At 10th level, a Dweomerlist may use this ability 2/day. |
| Siberys12-25-04, 10:19 PM | Coming Soon to a board near you! Allow the Egocentric Siberys to tell you how HE thinks the Races, Classes, and 1 PrC (Fist of Zuoken) from the XPH should fit into Eberron!! this is totally uninmportant.... Quote: Some Guy once said: "Aww man, I hate Egocentric Freaks," and he was speaking of me............. :evillaugh |
| crazysamaritan12-25-04, 10:21 PM | I've always viewed the alienist as facinated by Xoriat. close enough? |
| Siberys12-25-04, 10:35 PM | That makes sense - to some extent, more sense than what I put... |
| jedi818712-25-04, 11:48 PM | Check out Jhonen Olain's Eb journal for some interesting shujenja tid bits. And in the More Class/Race conversions thread on the Race/class/monster board is my take on the CA, aswell as ROS and ROD |
| Romulus LoneWolf12-26-04, 12:13 AM | There's no need to cut out the oriental flavor of the Wu-Jen and Shugenja, really. The cultures of Khorvaire aren't necessarily Western in flavor. I can easily see a "knight" having as much a japanese samurai flavor as a western cavalier flavor. Likewise the Shugenja and Wu-Jen. As mentionned, Jhonen Olain's Eb journal has an excellent take on the Shugenja, which is easily adaptable to include Wu-Jen as well. |
| Siberys12-26-04, 10:14 AM | Yeah, I read the Eberron jounal circle of four thing. It was interesting, I'll admit. Still, I can only imagine eastern flavor for the Dhakaani goblins, Riedrans, and maybe Seren Barbarians (Dragon Samurai - See the Journal) I'm not terribly big on Oriental adventures. I own it more as a supplement, using what I feel I need. I Thought Wu Jen sounded way too Eastern, but I liked the class. so I Changed it's name. Same for the Shugenja. Just for the record, I will be using the Circle of Four. I'm just going to make Wu Jen and Shugenja like alternate Sorcerers/Druids/Clerics or something. I also read the class/race conversions. I had already made some of them, and I didn't really like what was in the journal. Also note, I said I was an Egocentric Freak. So listen to what I have to say!!!!!!! |
| jedi818712-26-04, 10:35 AM | I'm glad you liked the Circle of Four. As and egocentric maniac myself, its nice to get some praise, especially after I spent a full month working on that. And wht didn't you like on the journal?(sorry if you read the bottom I put alot of work into that stuff, and wel I like criticism so I can incoporate it later) |
| Siberys12-26-04, 11:35 AM | Here's why I'm not going to use your XPH stuff, or what I will use: Dromites: Just Don't like them. I wasn't going to use them in the first place. Duergar: What I had was similar to what you had: only a few minor changes (Including the clan's name, Duergathan, for example) and it was exactly the same. Elans: Punishment Idea thing bood. I might use it Half-giants: Rather than a Quori Curse, The Half giants are the offspring of the precursors of the gith (See Below) And Fire, Sun (MMII), or Sand(MMIII) giants. They roam the harsh deserts of Xen'Drik. A fair population exists in Stormreach. Meanads: I like this idea. I'm might use maenads. Thri-Kreen: I like the Drow vs. Thri-kreen idea. I don't really like Hive-mind kinda things. I totally agree with the "Primitive culture" Idea. Here's another one: Thri-kreen ride ankhegs, and the carapace of a Thri-Kreen might be colored to match it with a specific tribe. Gith: You didn't include these, so I'll detail it The Gith were once a small group of renegade Sarlonans, fleeing persecution from one of the earlier Sarlonan kingdoms (perhaps Maena). They took to the seas about 40,000 years before Lhazaar. They created small settlements, And eventually a country, in the deserts of Xen'Drik. They ooften had to deal with Sand and sun giants, And this may be the origin of half giants. They Worshiped a mysterious goddess, And generally led a peaceful life. Then the Daelkyr came. Though they focused on Khorvaire, They sent some forces to Xen'Drik. These forces destroyed the Country of Renegades (as it had come to call itself), Even going so far as to kill their goddess (This assumes they can be killed, or that they even exist. If, in your campaign, they don't truly exist, then this means all her priests and priestess' focused their power into one chalice or gem or something before the Daelkyr came to preserve Thier faith or something.)The Daelkyr threw either the corpse or theobject into a deep chasm. When the Daelkyr were defeated, some of the Illithids that stayed behind took these humans as saves. After Millenia of servitude and warped by psionic and otherworldly energies, they became a totally diferent species. After forging a pact with Red dragon devotees of Tiamat* who believed that they were destined to help the newly named Gith, believing that it would help fulfil the Draconic Prophecy. Otherwise, Gith history proceeds as in Dragon 309. You like the gith history? Anyway, the only things I didn't like were the "Hive mind" things. Too much like Borgs. The journal is great otherwise. If you use my ideas, I don't suppose you could put my username in the credits.... :plotting: Egocentric Freaks and Maniacs Unite! :w00t: |

Gith are definantly interesting, we laid off on converting them as they were placed(without history) in the ECS. Talk to Jhonny about putting your stuff in the journal, he's usually pretty agreeable, if hard to track down. |
| Siberys12-27-04, 10:13 AM | I'd have to find out how to contact him, though. the githzerai are mentioned in the ECS under Kythri, and I bet Githyanki live on the Astral Plane (like normal). You'd just have to adapt the Gith history to Eberron, Kinda like I did. |
