| Romulus LoneWolf06-26-07, 06:53 PM | ...Just wondering... I browsed the Complete Champion book at the game store, and it seems to me as if it's content is almost entirely based on the Core Deities. I'm just wondering, how useful could it be for an Eberron campaign? |
| Rauric06-26-07, 09:21 PM | I hated that everything had a reference to Greyhawk gods. It should have just said "God of Magic, or Secrets or War " instead of naming actual gods from ONE setting. Some DMs are weird and may not let players use certain things from the book now. Those would be bad DMs, but I still feel bad for the players that would have to suffer through that ;) . Is there a reference somewhere to Eberron gods and Greyhawk deities? |

First, the feats don't take make any reference to the Core deities, and can thus be taken over as they are. So can the class variants. The specific organisations might or might not work, but with some effort and a bit of changing things around, they can be fit into the mould of already existing Eberron organisations. Spells and magic items are fine too, though the holy symbols may need a bit more work. Finally, the Prestige Classes can also be reworked: Fist of the Forests could be a member of the Ashbound sect or simply a philosophy amongst certain shifters. The Forest Reeve and the Holt Warden work well for the Wardens of the Wood. Mythic Examplars and Squires of Legend, following on the path of sepcific, past heroes, could work amongst the ancestor-worshipping Valenar. Ordained Champions might be speciality priests of Dol Dorn. Paragnostic Apostles and Initiates could be amongst the clergy of Aureon, or simply a new sect. Its emphasis on learning fits Eberron well. Sanctified Ones are more difficult. You could convert Elhonna, based on the abilities, to Boldrei, Kord to Dol Dorn, Olidammara to the Traveler, and Wee Jas to the Keeper. Shadowspies and Shadowstrikers could work for the Silver Flame. And to answer your question, Rauric, Converting the Faithful (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebmoh/20050121a) made an attempt at converting Greyhawk deities to Eberron. Complete Champion doesn't mention any other setting than Greyhawk, as far as I could find. |
