How easy would it be to use the material from Eberron to create a setting like that from FFX? I was playing it the other night and realized that I could use the world from FFX and the material from Eberron and make a really awesome game. Anyone have any specific suggestions though, since I'm still rather new to Eberron?

Converting FF to DND has been tried many times in many different ways and I've never seen it done properly.

My suggestion for conversion for FFX is to simply take the storyline and use it. Use standard classes and prc's. create rontos as needed. Maybe create a template for Auron, but thats about it. Summoner is just a Conjurer using the specific creature varient rules.

Aeons are just summoned creatures. The dream is just an eldrich effect of the bound souls. Tidus is a product of this but should have no real possitive or negative for the difference.

Yeah... it's really a matter of how much conversion you want to do. The storyline and world of FF could fit pretty decently into a D&D system. But the game system in FF is very different than D&D. FF's combat system is even more "over the top" than d&d is: none of the heroes can ever actually die from combat; "ressurection" is easily available as a cheap potion, people get hit with giant, planet-destorying nuclear explosions and are still standing. So you'd need to scale a lot of the feats and spells up to match the feel, I would think.

Basically, the main conversions I'm interested in is the world itself, and the npc characters. I'm not looking to convert potions into dnd terms or anything like that. Just the templates for Auron/Seymore/Tidus and whoever else, the classes for the NPC characters (possibly including Yuna), and a bunch of good suggestions for monsters... stuff like that.

ok for tidus and auron: tidus needs no template, auron just needs fluff, he has no special powers in game related to his condition.

Seymore: predeath: just a 1/2 breed race. create a template for the 1/2 add to human there you go. post death: well thats something to think about, maybe look through some of the books to find good templates to stack on.

NPCs: Yuna is a Cleric. The sending is a ritualized turn undead. Her aeons are summon monster spells as I mentioned before.

Lulu: wizard, duh

Wakka: tuff one there, fighter or even a wierd ranger with a ball instead of a bow.

Riku: thief

the ronto: (can't remember his name) barbarian/ sorc. make the race for him.

anyone I'm missing, rest of the npcs are npc classes. don't need stats for many others unless you plan to play that ball game.

monsters: use dnd monsters just change the flavor. In dnd you'll have 1/100th of the encounters at best so you don't need 99 flavors of goblin to fight.

I am not great at the crunch part of creation so I can only offer suggestions.

I disagree. I don't think you would have to mechanically change anything. All of the adjustments just need to affect the special effects. There's nothing to say that a 10, or 7,8,9 Fireball can't look like an H-Bomb. Does it make 100% sense? No... then again, you're in a world where people ride large birds and throw fireballs.

Chocobos were statted out in Dragon about half a year ago.

Tidus - Marshal/Swashbuckler/Duelist (??)
Auron - Fighter/Kensai
Rikku - Rogue/Artificer
Yuna - Healer (with personalized Summon Monster spells added to spell list)/Thaumaturgist
Lulu - Warmage
Wakka - No freaking clue...Barbarian with whirling frenzy? Expert? :P
Kimahri - Scout, just because :)
Paine - Hexblade

I would've guessed Yuna to be a healer/thaumaturgist combo, maybe with sorceror added in (can't remember pre-reqs for thaum), and the other party members wouldn't even matter because those spots would be filled by the PCs.

Seymour would probably be a similar combo, maybe with something involving necromancy as well.

Yunalesca would be a lich or a deathless...

A few of the monsters could probably even be living spells, such as H-Bomb/Fireballs

How would you work in Blitzball?

Possibly Profession or Blitzball skill? Or just ability checks?

Anyone willing to do stats for the Aeons? I'm developing a whitemage/summoner class, and could really use them.

Oh, and sorry about the double post. :(

FFIX is a MUCH better fit to Eberron than X is.
Much better game in general, too.

Actually, FFXII is coming out and it seems the most Eberron of them all...
