| Board_Rider06-26-05, 03:42 PM | Hey Party People, Just got a couple of questions I got for you Eberron gurus.. - In the Shadows of the Last War there is a metal node thingy that we got but the DM says that there is no place in the module where it is actualy commented upon. Any ideas? - If Eberron doesn't have that many high level NPCs, then who makes all the high power wonderous items? I mean why would a +5 Longsword ever be made if only a handful, like adventurers, were even be able to afford such a thing? Or are all things that powerful custom built? Or is it even possible to get stuff like that? I am just getting into the idea of Eberron so that is why I am asking. I really am a FR guy, so I am used to high level NPCs. Does Eberron have high level NPCs? Thanks. |
| The White Sorcerer06-26-05, 04:05 PM | Does Eberron have high level NPCs? Depends on what you mean by "high level." 12th+? Sure. King Kaius III, the Lord of Blades, Jaela Daran, &c. 20th+? Yup. Oalian, the Daughters of Sora Kell, &c. As for powerful items being custom made? Well, duh. Okay, maybe not custom made, but unique. A +5 vorpal sword isn't just any sword, it has a history and purpose. Who makes them? The dragons and the giants, for example. |

Any ideas? The Essence Node of Blinding? Its a warforged component that grants the user the Blinding sheild special ability. That was changed to something else that is described in the ECS (essence node of the scout I think, can't remeber exactly) in the errata. |

Yeah wasn't sure where to find those NPCs...I will look for them. |

Any ideas? Yes, I have an idea. Tell your DM to look at the SotLW errata (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/er/20040125a). Short story, an item was dropped or renamed in the Eberron Campaign Setting that also should have been changed in SotLW, but was not. Two things to remember. Eberron had some very powerful beings in its past and they made not only artifacts, but many more common magical items. And artificers are insanely potent at making magic items. Insanely. Potent. Magic, and magic items are relatively common, especially compared to the Realms. Even a commoner can potentially have access to low level magic items in his daily life. Also, money is quite spread out among the various power groups. A given House, noble family, secret society, or even a powerful merchant lord could easily afford to find and buy that +5 sword of hurtiness, and sell it in turn or merely give it to the party, depending on things. Sure, they could use it themselves, but they could also give it to someone would could use it better, like the PCs, and still advance their goals. I am just getting into the idea of Eberron so that is why I am asking. I really am a FR guy, so I am used to high level NPCs. Does Eberron have high level NPCs? A few. I think the highest level one out there is a 20th level awakened tree druid. Most high level characters have some sort of reason for not taking direct involvement with the rest of the world, such as ties to one area or group of people. This is to help keep the PCs in the forefront. |
