| Darkest9008-15-04, 05:32 PM | Hey, I wanted to get some help with a predicament I am having with making a new organization in my campaign, the House of Jhavasanda. Everyone here has expressed creative, original ideas, so I ask if you could impart some of that wisdom for my new campaign. My idea of fun within the Eberron universe includes a just a slightly more heavy tone of darkness and grit than in the book. Mysterious cults with none-too-good motivations, obscure organizations centered on unfolding a dire plot, its what makes my campaign run. Get a lot of organizations together, each with different motives, and have them run into walls and each other. The party is stuck in the middle, trying to sort out the chaos. One group I am working on in the House of Jhavasanda. I liked the idea of House Jorasco, which are supposed to be the main 'healers', but I didn't want such a widespread, influential organization messing up the balance of power in my 'room full o' crazies'. So, I came up with the House of Jhavasanda. An exile from House Jorasco because she was too interested in the darker side of healing, Jhavasanda (a dragonmarked halfling) became a prophetess with a small following of similiar-minded individuals bearing the dragonmark of healing. The name 'House Jhavasanda' doesn't mean they are an official dragonmark house, its just the name of their cult. As a cult, the members gave nearly all of their possessions to Jhavasanda and her treasurer to deal with. They settled in Karrnath, their organization hiding out in the city of Karrlakton, and have since been gaining resources and new members. That is as much as I got. Now, I would like a little help fleshing out this organization, as I have said. I have drawn inspiration from a feature on the D&D website featuring the Elemental Plane of Blood, the Blood Elementals, and so forth. I hope some of you remember it (it was in the retired Spellbook feature and as well in the Monster Mayhem feature). I intend on including some sort of similiar tale, with the House of Jhavasanda drawing power from the Plane of Blood, simultaneously binding Blood Elementals in items and such. I have also been tossing around some ideas with them courting similiar ideas of the Undying Court. Maybe they have a fear of death, and this is why they are obsessed with healing. Perhaps they are trying to discover a link to immortal life, or at least a new afterlife they can channel their souls in. So, a rogue cult led by halflings bearing the Mark of Healing, and ultimately, the prophetess Jhavasanda. They are centered in a hidden temple (to Jhavasanda) in Karrlakton. Somewhere in the cult there is a portal under which Jhavasanda is drawing power from the Elemental Plane of Blood. The artificiers of this cult are experimenting with items imbued with Blood Elementals. Any help with fleshing that out, such as the cults beliefs, and how they can continue being actively devoted to healing while also being a 'dark cult'. Thank you very much, Darkest90 |

They would be welcome in Karrnath because of Kaius' need for blood. Also Kaius might be interested in finding a "cure" for vampirism, or something similar. I'm not sure how the Blood of Vol would react to the new cult though... You could do something with leeches too, having them suck out "bad" blood and infusing the person with "healthy" blood. That could give rise to Leechwalkers (Monster Manual II) which are really freakin' nasty ;) Perhaps more fanatical members of the cult would want to harvest "healthy" blood for their blood banks, and maybe tax people in the surrounding communities for blood... All kinds of ideas you can use if you want ;) |
| Darkest9008-15-04, 06:29 PM | Well, I also wanted them to play the part of the 'healer organization' in my campaign. My warforged cleric of the Lord of Blades isn't really the healer type, and I intend for the House of Jhavasanda to provide healing when things get really hairy, with diseases or other curses that my party can't handle. I like the idea with leeches, and the leechwalker (yes! That adds such a cool new 'dark' part to the House) and even the goal of bringing a demi-god of blood into the world (though it will probably be just a high-level demon with cool abilities). But is there any way we could make it so that they were open healers as well? Offering certain services for certain prices? |

And maybe they could pump in a whole new batch of fresh blood to flush out poisons/diseases... They would need a big supply of blood though, so that can be where the "blood tax" comes in ;). |
