| reel_big_gish08-16-06, 10:38 AM | Are there rules for the creation of new Creation Forges (or the repair of nonfunctional forges) in print anywhere? |
| Euangelion08-16-06, 10:51 AM | Not yet, beyond the general description on creating eldritch machines from the ECS (I don't have the page number with me.) Perhaps the Dragonmarked sourcebook coming out in November will have something. |
| okaynowa08-16-06, 10:51 AM | In official print? I don't believe so. Creation forges are mysterious items on par with eldritch engines and artifacts. Building, tinkering with, or operating one should be a complicated and adventure-worthy event, with rules tailored by the DM to suit the needs of the plot/campaign. |
| reel_big_gish08-16-06, 11:40 AM | Thanks guys. That's the answer I was expecting, but some guidelines would be nice. How does this sound for creation? Requires: Craft Wondrous Item, Craft Construct, Legendary Artisan, Extraordinary Artisan, Animate Object, Awaken CL 10 Market Price: 500,000gp Cost to Create: 250,000gp+10,250XP (Legendary/Extraordinary Artisan do not reduce this cost) The above price does not include the cost of the forge itself; it only covers the cost of enchanting it The additional cost of maybe sacrificing a level to the forge to imbue it with a pattern of sentiencemight also be a good idea. Thoughts, comments, suggestions? |
| Kreistor108-16-06, 12:22 PM | Personally, I wouldn't let them be made from scratch. The core component needs to be found and transported from Xen'drik. But that's just my own opinion. |
| reel_big_gish08-16-06, 12:34 PM | That's a good idea. Something like a docent component embedded with the schematics that is embedded within the finished machine in order for it to function. |
| Kreistor108-16-06, 01:41 PM | Well, I was imagining something more like a ten ton eldritch machine, myself. Something that won't fit in a Bag of Holding and makes the party a big ugly target as they try to move it out of the wilds undamaged. With Drow, Giants, and other nasties on their trail. |
