| dharhk09-29-05, 02:20 AM | i could use some ideas on how to make your own forge. basicly if it was done once, how was it done. |
| Vharuck09-29-05, 03:05 AM | Eldritch machine. i.e., Deus ex Machina |
| dharhk09-29-05, 03:39 AM | the eldritch machine is a seperate item than creation forges and does differnt effects than the forge does. this did not answer my question |
| Save-vs-DM09-29-05, 03:55 AM | Well, there are no offical rules. I'd rule those things to be minor artifacts at the very least - after all, they've created sentient life. If you wanted hard and fast numbers, here's what I'd suggest Creation Forge Major conjuration and transmutation; CL 25th; Create Epic Wondrous Item, eidolon, polymorph any object, true creation, wish, creator must have the Siberys mark of Making; Price 5,000,000gp That looks about righ to me. Yes, it actually requires epic level feats and spells. And well it should. I don't think you could create a creation forge with anything less than this. Hope this was helpful. Cheers, Save vs DM |
| Kennian09-29-05, 04:35 AM | hummm a huge machine with layered True Creation spells that create the bodies, a termenal to imput new designs, the spells used in the creation of say, a stone golem...and Awaken Construct all done :P not what a real forge does though....they use souls instead of awaken construct |
| Saviente09-29-05, 11:58 AM | not what a real forge does though....they use souls instead of awaken construct Well, then don't forget about Kyber Dragonshards with trapped souls from the plan of death (what is it called again...Dal' Qual (something like that) I'm still new) |
| Thrincold09-29-05, 12:38 PM | the eldritch machine is a seperate item than creation forges and does differnt effects than the forge does. this did not answer my question How is a creation forge not an eldrich machine. the eldrich machine by definition is an item that allows an npc to perform feats that would be otherwise impossible within the framework of DND. That seems to fit a creation forge pretty closely in my opinion. The creation forges aren't something that house cannith came up with, they were found and modified from schema and diagrams found in Xendric. Therefore they fit the mold of an eldrich machine perfectly. An item that allows a bunch of guys with a few once a day abilities to create, nay mass produce constructs and then give them sentience and life. If you can show me how a 10th to 15th level character that is probably 1/2 npc classes can do that then I'll revise my opinion on a creation forge being anything but an eldrich machine. |
| cmanos09-29-05, 01:20 PM | I'd go along with Eldritch Machine. Because once you put rules to how to make something like this, you give the PC's ways to make them. And we all know, players will do what they can do. Ask yourself if you want a PC with a creation forge. |
| dharhk09-29-05, 03:56 PM | the machine that i built is basicly an eldritch machine and not quite a creation forge, though the dm let me build it. cl15, uses the spells of major creation, fabricate, permanecy, and awaken costs 323,000 gp. has an activation cost of 500 xp time it takes to craft is 2hrs/1000 gp of cost, user must be an artificer and have the necessary creation feats, also pay additional xp cost of 25 xp/spell level. and 1/wk can create an intelligent item. i'm looking to improve this so that i can make the warforged |
