Creation Forges [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-09-06, 06:32 PM I'm looking for other people's opinions on creation forges. As far as I know there's no details about them in the books aside from them being used to make warforged and coming from Xen'drik

What do you think creation forges look like? How do you think they act?

03-09-06, 06:39 PM I'm going out on a limb and I'll say they probably hum and vibrate in a awe inspiring way when their working.

Do they reincarnate the souls of the dead into warforged harvesting bleached and wasted spirits them from the depth's of Dolur? Maybe.

Do they represent the final destination of elven souls the journey of thousands of years? Maybe.

Do they inprint a shallow mockery of life that can only be made real through life and tribulation in a vain rip off of pinochio? Probably.

03-09-06, 06:39 PM While I haven't made anything extremely specific I'd say that they all look similar to the on in the sidebar next to the forged entry.

Maybe the a sheath might come down and cover the area where the warforged would be made.

Now something I have been pondering is activation. I was thinking of the Creation-type of abilities (and similar spells) of cannith might activate them. if the PC's have enough time they could activate the forge and create some low-cost magic items. warforged would require a Major Creation and prolly something else, so they can't build themselves an army of forged.

03-09-06, 06:56 PM Forges would be massive and immobile... I imagine a chamber similar to the one in the ECS, where parts sort of fly together and assemble themselves amongst much noise and electrical crackling.

Perhaps a lot of Unseen Crafters (infusion/spell from RoE) are helping to create the warforged... that would explain the spell's bonus on repairing warforged.

Activating one would probably either require a certain schema (not a minor schema, a plot-device style schema) or a particular high-level infusion, or perhaps by activating a docent that knows the proper techniques, as well as all of the necessary materials and components for whatever type of construct the forges will turn out. After all, not just warforged, but chargers, titans, and 5N's Steel Krakens were all created in the forges.

The completed body is placed in the Forge's focus point and brought online.
Were the Power goes from, now that the adventure!

03-10-06, 03:51 PM In my campaign, the creation forges found in xen'drik were actually giant resurrection machines. A giant dies, and it's soul is trapped in Dolurrh. It can't be ressurrected, because the giant's soul is under the entrapment influence of the plane. So, the giants built the machine, so that when the corpse of the giant is placed in the forge, and the right resurrection and planar magic is cast, the giant's soul is forcibly removed from Dolurrh and the giant is alive once more. If the giant's body was too damaged to sustain life, the giants would construct a new body. Using stone, iron, wood, and what scraps they had of the person they were resurrecting, a giant's body could be simulated, and the giant would live once more inside of this gigantic golem-like creature.
Many of the giant resurrection devices were destroyed in the Giant-Quori war. Quori was invading Xen'drik, for whatever reason. Having their enemies not only being brought back to life, but also completely unable to sleep or dream, was something the Quori could not allow. Therefore, every last forge was destroyed.
Where, then, did House Cannith get there plans for the current creation forges? House Cannith found an ancient set of plans for a resurrection device. Most of the information was damaged. The bulk of the info included the construction of the artificial body, and how to restore it to life. There was no info on how to power the device, so they used what they had; the mark of making. Cannith extrapolated what they could. After a few years of trial and error, they created the first warforged creation forge.
