| Amaril05-22-07, 11:27 AM | While I'm looking forward to the detailing Forge of War might present, I wonder if anyone knows what type of crunch we can expect as well. |
| Arcane Guyver05-22-07, 12:49 PM | Just speculation, but I'd recommend taking a gander at 'Heroes of Battle' for a preview of the type of crunch that'll be introduced in 'Forge of War.' New magical siege machines, a couple PrCs that are fairly specific to portions of the war, possibly some more 'command auras' or whatever those things were in HoB. It'd be nice to see some alternate class abilities...can never have enough of those, and Eberron-specific ones could be nice (how about one for Healers that lets their healing magic works at 3/4 power on warforged instead of 1/2? Some new Marshal auras, maybe.). |
| Rechan05-22-07, 01:00 PM | Does WotC not put out a book that doesn't contain Feats/Spells/PrCs/Monsters? I anticipate like, 4 chapters of crunch. |

Does WotC not put out a book that doesn't contain Feats/Spells/PrCs/Monsters? I anticipate like, 4 chapters of crunch. Secrets of Sarlona barely had any mechanics, which worked really well for that book. Also, the question wasn't asking if there was crunch, but what crunch we can look forward to. I'm hoping one of the authors can chime in. |
| Toloran05-22-07, 01:26 PM | Personally, here is how I hope the book breaks down (approximately): * Introduction: Introduces book, general basic stuff that is at the start of every book. * The Overview of the War: Gives a general overview of the war including details about how it started, how alliances shifted over the course of the war, etc. Also would cover how many of the countries reacted to the Mourning. * Fighters of the War: Covers class variants, Prestige Classes, feats, spells, magic items etc that were commonly used during the war. * Major Battles of the War: Gives a more detailed description (including approximate number and composition of troops, who was fighting, etc) of the various major battles of the war. |
| Arcane Guyver05-22-07, 02:22 PM | Also, Healer and Marshal were in Miniatures Handbook, not Heroes of Battle. Yeah...but one can always hope for support for these two struggling classes! :) Still don't know why HoB didn't do more with them. |
| Dragoloth05-23-07, 10:33 PM | I'm hoping for more tactical feats. I would love to see new(we havent seen before) warforged from the war that came out before the current race we know now. |

PGtE was very crunch light. Faiths of Eberron was crunch light. WotC has been getting much better about putting out fluff books. |
| Rechan05-24-07, 01:06 PM | Faiths had a PrC for pretty much every faith. They didn't have about ten pages of feats though. |
| From_Khyber05-25-07, 10:56 AM | SoS was almost crunch free. PGtE was very crunch light. Faiths of Eberron was crunch light. WotC has been getting much better about putting out fluff books. What's the difference between crunch and fluff? |
| DanFor05-25-07, 11:10 AM | Crunch = rules stuff (feats, prestige classes, etc.) Fluff = background material (history, geography, etc.) |
| Amaril05-25-07, 11:19 AM | Keep in mind, some regard fluff with a negative connotation of being useless, while others use the term fluff as a substitute for flavor. In this case, I mean flavor. |
| Arcane Guyver05-25-07, 12:02 PM | Keep in mind, some regard fluff with a negative connotation of being useless... Typically, this attitude is reserved for books that are supposed to be generic, not campaign setting-specific. |
| Amaril05-25-07, 12:56 PM | Typically, this attitude is reserved for books that are supposed to be generic, not campaign setting-specific. Typically, but not always. There are some in these forums that complain about being told how to run their Eberron, especially those who already developed their own material for areas that hadn't been expanded in a sourcebook. |
