Okay...I was originally going to do my first real Eberron adventure for my PC's (currently 4th level) as an expedition to Xen'drik. However, I feel that Xen'drik would be better saved for a bit later when the party can actually take on a bunch of drow, giants and large dinosaurs.

So I decided to go to the Shadow Marches. However, I'm trying to get my brain around the Cult of the Dragon Below....and specifically how the Orc/Human clans allied to them would respond to the party.

I'm either going to go with the adventure hook of having the Daelkyr tower erupt from the swamp, or just go exploring one of the Daelkyr ruins.

Any suggestions?

During exploration of your daelkyr ruins you could have the PCs come across a strange statue, which is slightly off it's base. A PC might try to adjust this, thus breaking a seal of the Gatekeepers, and causing the tower to remainfest with them inside and the Dealkyr being the patient and horrid agents of madness they are thank the party and throw a banquest in thier honor and expose to them plans of worldly distruction in the form of afternoon entertianment.

Also you may want to try to see if they can stomach anything Daelkyr at all, with thier preffered weapons and art techniques it might be interesting to see how the mortal PCs and immortal destructors get along. Since they are extraordinarily complacent and patient it would not influence thier plans to explain to the PCs in detail thier plans for destruction, or simple try to convert the PCs into illithids, oozes, or beasts as thanks for thier help. Daelkyr do not break seals of the Gatekeepers simply because there are mortals who break them in time, once they forget why there are ruins in the first place.

Irresponisble, destructive humans summon these patrons of madness inviting wittingly or unwittingly to the material plane. In either case a Daelkyr is almost never uninvited by some action of the material plane.

There's an idea, but I think I'm going to leave the Daelkyr in Khyber for now...plenty of time to bring them up...got to build them up first.

This adventure is mainly to do an introduction to the Daelkyr, their relationship to the abberations and as a geography/political lesson on the Shadow Marches (I kinda want to do each of the main countries on Khorvaire). I have an idea for the big boss at the end...they should be able to take it out, but one of the PCs could buy it...it's going to be tough.

But mainly I'm trying to figure out how to bring the Cult of the Dragon Below into it...I do want to have one of the dimensional seals threatened...but if it's so easy for the PCs to destroy it, why wouldn't one of the Cults have done it yet?

Cultists of the Dragon Below are a bunch of nutters. And that kinda makes it easier to bring them into the game.

Some ways of doing it are:

1) The Cultist are searching for a way to break an extradimensional seal, and to do so they need to find a person who was born during a particualrly rare moon alignment. One such person is a PC, and the cultists have hired mercenaries to ambush the characters, take them prisoner and bring them before the sect.

2) Interpreting 'the Voice' one particular sect seeks to remove all foriegn influence from the Shadow Marshes. They begin by targeting the PCs.

There are just two examples, good luck in the future.
