Well, I happen to be working ona character right now was from Cyre, I want them to be dragonmarked and favored of the clan (human), I am also going for having lots of ranks in athletic skills, swim, tumble, balance, climb, and jump. I am thinking of going for the CV Scout class and playing a human most likely. The character at this point looks as if it will be a guy, and he will be one of the few survivors of the birth of the Mournland and have experienced it's horrors firsthand. He is charming and kind but has a powerfull wanderlust and only escaped with his life from the dreaded mists through his peak physical skills and able mind. I am not totally decided on the specific clan or even if I will actually take my dragonmark at level 1 or wait and become a Siberys heir. The character is in upbringing a noble but spent less time in court and more exploring the woods and simming the rivers. I am thinking strong scores in INT and CHA and above adverage physical scores. The character is well liked but not impressive in charming skills like diplomacy and such just natural goodheartedness and looks that are normal enough not to attract jelousy but good enough to predispose people to him.

He is adventuring in part to find out if any old friends escaped the Cyre. His patrons in the house see his potential to be a great leader among the clan if he were inspired to do so.

If not dragonmarked from first I will probably take endurance.

I would like ideas and opinions and help developing this character.

Finally, at higher levels, I plan on having the character "discover his destiny" and become a servant of the Curch of the Silver flame, probably by multiclassing into cleric or palladin. Allthough I have also entertained becoming a follower of Il' Yahnna.

I'd recommend House Orien for a dragonmarked House, they have a tendency toward wanderlust that fits in well with the outdoorsy scout type. Both Breland (Sharn and New Cyre) and Q'Barra have large populations of Cryan refugees so those would be places he'd like to visit sometime. For feats Athletic while considered by some to be a "wasted" feat is definetly in keeping with your character concept. You might also consider Favored Soul from CD as a way for you character to become affiliated with the Church of the Silver Flame. Sounds like this character has lots of Role-playing potential.

I am actually playing a Cyran currently who's along the same lines. He's an aberrant dragonmark (shield) so he's got a real grudge against the 12 houses that during the War of the Mark tried to exterminate his lineage. He hates the Valenar (not all elves) and views their betrayl of Cyre to be unforgiveable. He also holds major grudges against Breland, Karrnath and Thrane b/c they all turned against Cyre intially. Doesn't really care much about Aundair. He also views the Cyran lands currently being squatted upon in Darguun as something that needs to be reclaimed by the "Sons & Daughters of Cyre," a group of refugees that adventure to gain power and eventually reclaim the glory of their old nation.

He's become involved with the Cliffstop Guild and will either eventually become involved in the Wayfinder Foundation, Eldeen Rangers (Gatekeeper), Silver Flame, or a Xen'Drik guide. A thought I had was to involve him in the Eldeen Rangers as a Child of Winter and have him spread terrorism and death among the Valenar. But, that would mean I'd have to take him down the path of vengful, homicidal killer.

Cyrans have tremendous role-playing potential.

Thanks for the favored soul idea! I think I will go for that! :D Orien sounds great! I hadn't had the book on me but I think I would have picked them as well. He makes an excellent candidate for House Orien! XD I think a favored soul wouldn't work to well though since this is a low or adverage wisdom character. Why I was leaning towards palladin is because of ability score layout, that high CHA plays well into the pally class, plus I think it fits the character to be a little more militant and to have a special mount later. I am still trying to think up a good name for the character here are some ideas:

Note: add 'd Orien as last name since the character will be from house Orien:
Cid
Mellienos
Philip
Zack
Mithio
Sage
Armok
Everoth
Webbiel

Of these names I think I like Cid, Zack, and Everoth the best. Any opinions?

Favored Soul uses Charisma to determine spells or some part of spells at any rate (I don't have the book handy, at work) that's why I mentioned it. They are sort of a divine sorcerer.

Also it's d'Orien but only if you manifest a dragonmark.

I like Armok, myself.

A favored soul uses Charisma to determine what level spells he can cast and bonus spells and Wisdom to determine save DC. So its a mixed thing, designed to balance the class a bit.

I would say that favored souls in Eberron would be the rarest of people. Clerics who can cast spells, whoa re holy men who seek the gods all their lives, are rare. So someone who gains spells out of the blue like this should have a special role, more than any other setting where the gods are constantly granting power.

I like Mellienos.

A favored soul would be great for a character with a low wisdom and high charisma if you focused on spells that don't have saving throws. Self buffs like divine favor and group buffs like bless become your friends real quick.

Actually, there are people without dragonmarks who have the d'(whatever) last name.

d'Orien is the right and responsibility of anyone who is pure blooded of house d'Orien and hasn't been kicked out of the house. The house name is used as a surname instead of using their family name, but do remember that they still HAVE a family name.

Any reccomendations for a family name then?

I disagree. My parents each have surnames. I only have one surname. For most people, in order to be a "pureblooded" d'Orien, you would have to be the son or daughter or a d'Orien. Thus, means that in most cases that one of your parents must be a d'Orien. Just like any noble family name, you would take that name over any other surnames. The only people related to the d'Orien line that do not have the surname are those who have left the house or have been exiled.
