| Fallenangel35901-09-07, 12:27 AM | I'm going to be running a pen and paper version of the DDO stormreach game. So far, we have a bard/artificer, with a custom theurge class that I'm making for the game. Also we have a dread necromancer I haven't spoken with the other players yet as what they will play any recommendations on how to add some intrique? |
| Nived01-09-07, 01:49 AM | What are you going to run them through PnP versions of "The Low Road", "Water Works" "STK", "The Catacombs," "Tangle Root" etc etc etc up until "VON" "Twilight Forge" and "Against the Demon Queen?" etc? Catacombs itself offers quite a bit of what might be called intrige with the hierarchy of the church of the silver flame and all. Also you might want do scope out Secrets of Xendrik in its writeup on Stormreach it offers a number of possibilites (as well as fleshing out districts of the city not seen in DDO). For instance the makeup of the Coin Lords and half a dozen ideas for what could be 'wrong' with them. Intrige abounds there. One thing to consider the XP and level progression in a PNP game would be higher and faster than DDO presents. |
| Fallenangel35901-09-07, 10:19 PM | I'm not basing xp off of CR, to be honest. I'm going to give them xp when I feel like giving them xp, in the quantity I wish, to level them at the rate I wish them to level. sadly, while I know most of the quests, I don't know the 8-10 ones as I stopped playing the game after level 6, 9 months ago I usually am a player in the games I play, and all the other players, and the DM want me to run a campaign... first time DMing... oh well... I guess its really good that I know the system really well I was just asking for advice. I was thinking about starting with the tavern, with the talisman of evil, the 3 basic quests to get gate, then move onto the one with the girl being kidnapped by kobolds, with that one bladetrap. Then I'd go to kobold assault. Yes. I plan on putting the players against 200 class-leveled kobolds. Fortunenetly for them, I'm nice, and I'm giving them 2 18s, 2 16s, and 2 14s for stats, and max hp on all hit dice. I'm not too worried. One of the players is a bard :P I'm also modifying the encounter a bit. The castle is a little easier to defend, but its also a siege. The players whine about starting at level 1, so I'm starting them at 3, and just not giving them xp for a while... I plan on doing waterworks, and then possibly tangleroot secrets of xendrik you say? Is it any good? |
| Nived01-10-07, 11:10 AM | Thematically it's better to go from Waterworks to STK. Remember in the water works you're searching for the two idiot cousins that think they're wayfinders. You rescue the first, but the second is already dead, however with his body you find a note that points to the location of the seal of Shan-To-Kor. Either taking that to wayfinder Dael or having the wayfinders search them out would be the easiet and smoothest trasition. Granted the end boss is a fire giant and you'd have to knock some stuffing out of him... easiest way is making it a venerable giant and have him be old and tired....knocking some strength off. After that Tangleroot is great. |
| Fallenangel35901-10-07, 12:47 PM | completely forgot about STK, wow... STK has a really nasty boss... |
| Fallenangel35901-12-07, 02:36 AM | any other ideas? |
