| AvonRekaes09-29-05, 11:03 PM | So I'm currently using a xoriat-spawn plot in my Eberron game, and one of the player characters is a talentia halfling. This got me thinking about the halfling's role during the Xoriat Invasion of Khorvaire. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the halflings were living in Khorvaire when that happened right? I don't think they migrated with the humans from Sarlona, so they had to have been around when the Dealkyr lead their armies. I was wondering if anyone had any opinions one way or the other about how the halflings dealt with the Dealkyr and abberations. Did they make byeshk tangats? Did they ride into battle on their dinosaurs beside goblinoid armies? One could say that the Dealkyr pretty much ignored the Talentia Planes, or never even reached them (seeing as how they're on the other side of the continent from the entry point of the Shadow Marches). However, I like the idea of using the Choker as a twisted halfling. I.E. Chokers are to halflings what Dolgaunts are to hobgoblins and Dolgrims are to goblins. Well whatever the case, I'm interesting on hearing other people's opinions on this. (So I can steal them for my campaign, of course. ^_-) |

Possible origins : - haflings are actually outsiders who fled their native plane hundred of years ago because it was getting too small :) - haflings are mutated goblins exposed to the madness of Xoriat, afterwards becomming a pure race. - years of goblin inbreeding resulted into the first haflings. - night hags experimentation on human children resulted in the hafling race. ... or maybe they were around and it's the madness of Xoriat that caused their silly nature... ...sorry not feeling to serious to day :)... |

The goblin empire was pretty widespread on Khorvaire, but I bet they left the dinosaur infested Talenta plains pretty much alone, and the halflings did their best to avoid the goblins. When the war came, the Daelkyr were mostly concerned with the goblins, and their armies never made it to Talenta. Of course, a few scout groups did, enough to seize some halflings for experimentation. Or maybe a group of halflings were sent to do recon on this little war the goblins were mixed up in, and got captured. The halflings have always been firmly based in the Plains, and didn't spread across Khorvaire until human settlers came. On the other hand, the daelkyr are creatures of madness, so its hard to guess what they did in any situation. |
