Okay guys, I need your help for a friend of mine.

We are starting a game, he's the DM, and I am the only one used to the setting. He seemed very interested in playing in Eberron and he wants to give the other players a good idea of the setting. Something they could read and understand what's going on in this new world. The others are used to FR and they don't want to start reading everything in the ECS.

1- Where can I find a good resume of the setting (or can you guys make one) ?

2- If they should read some parts, which ones would be most important ?

3- The players are a human duelist (from Sharn), an orc barbarian (from anywhere), a human cleric (going Wiz then True Necro, from somewhere, need help for that one), and me, the human Rogue (mark of Orien, from Sharn)...

Sorry for the long post and thanks for the answers...

Well, you could try reading this http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/eb/whatiseberron

And check out some of the articles on the site. Keith's Dragonshards are a great source of info and give a fine sense of the feel of the world.

Sturm, even though this description is accurate, I need something longer...

BTW, I already talked to them about the setting a bit, it's more of something to read while waiting for the game itself....

Well, fiction-wise, the first Eberron novel just came out. I read it and it's fantastic. Great plot twists and character, and really shows off the setting's features and feel.

Shorter than a novel, the adventure module Shadows of the Last War has a booklet insert that is a short story (also written by Keith baker). "Death in Whitehearth" was quite enjoyable.

I think there may be existing forum posts here that are devoted to providing descriptions and FAQs about Eberron.

an orc barbarian (from anywhere)
I'd suggest Eldeen Reaches for a nature oriented orc or Shadow Marches for a shard oriented orc.

a human cleric (going Wiz then True Necro, from somewhere, need help for that one)
Easy : I'd suggest Karnath ! He can be one of the few learning to raise undead...

the human Rogue (mark of Orien, from Sharn)...
I love the Mark of Passage :)

I've been meaning to indoctrinate a couple of players to Eberron myself, and a document like this might be of use. Between my work schedule and what passes for my social life, it might take me a while, but I should probably be able to have a draft of something like this whipped up by the weekend, if you're interested.

There's a reason I'm using a Sivis crest as my Avatar.

Drop me a PM and we can discuss content, length, style, etc.

Here's the eberron primer for players that jaytic d'cannith did, which i modified somewhat for formatting and added in some extra history. My modifications aren't finished, but you still might find it useful: http://drogg.vocodex.org/primer.zip
