Okay, so my play group has recently been exploring an ancient elven temple in Xen'drik built during the Age of Giants... they have reached the outer ward of the inner most sanctum which is protected by staggeringly powerful magics. The party is scaled 32pt, ECL12 and there are 6 players.

The wards had (3) pre-written solutions.

(I) There was a riddle elsewhere in the temple which could be used to bypass the wards (by activating a node elsewhere).

(II) The magical ward was essentially a prismatic wall so the second solution was to do the proper research to discover the proper negation method (cone of cold, gust of wind, disintegrate, etc).

(III) The final solution was that the party was actually in possession of a minor artifact attuned to the temple and would allow the possessor and anyone touching the possessor to step through the ward.

However, these (3) weren't enough and the players opted for solution (4), the unplanned solution.

In lieu of an immediate and apparent solution (to the obvious spoils which lay within), the party attempted to bypass the wall by using a group dimensional door.... However, what the party didn't know is that there was a sort of 'baleful plane shift' effect beyond the wall (as long as the wall was active).

So the party popped beyond the wall into this plane shift effect (which some of them actually saved against, but let's just say everyone went along to the plane) and they were cast to a random plane. I rolled randomly using the DMG and then decided in my own head that I turn this mishap into a sort of 'spiritual journey' or 'sacred task' type of adventure. My random d% showed up the location as being Carceri (which I know doesn't exist in Eberron).

So, in short... I need some ideas for a brief planar adventure with an underlying 'old religion' theme.... Any ideas for a Carceri-type Eberron place? Or opponents? Or ideas for the task?

Any advice is appreciated and will be considered! ;) Thanks guys.

Dolurrh, Mabar, or Shavarath could work. The first two are quite gloomy and would work better. Seriously, what fits better than the fate of souls or the plane of shadows/negative energy. Shavarath is a place of eternal battle and would work differently. Or you could just check here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/eb/20040309a) for all the planes and choose the one that suits you best rather than rolling randomly. Or you could consider Khyber another plane. I remember some debate about where rahkshasas and other outsiders from Khyber go if you banish them.

Dal Quor could serve a very different role, and it even has a connection to the giants. However, that would be perhaps too hostile, too much a story in itself, and would require a way to get back when the quori can't either. Without freeing them. So . . . yeah, stay away from Dal Quor. Unless you can get creative.
