| Karon_the_Orange02-07-08, 01:14 PM | So I have an Eberron game with players that have never played Eberron, and at least one who has never played DnD. First I was thinking of running The Forgotten Forge, but i was worried that Sharn may be a too overwhelming. I thought maybe I could start in small town in the Eldeen Reaches, and slowly expand from there. Any suggestions on which way to go? |

Then every session you can slowly introduce new factions and it won't seem out of place because the city is so big. I'm running some new players through the Forgotten Forge right now and the only thing I've told them about Sharn is this: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebds/20040927a |

See what it is they would like to try out for a concept, and take that and work on making it Eberron fantastic. Ask the group if they would like a: Urban campaign Wilderness campaign Political(not likely given that they won't know the setting yet) Sea fairing Exploration classic Good vs Evil National( starting in one of the nations and helping them grow) or whatever! From there, you take the idea that they want to work with, and then put an Eberron spin on it that you as the DM want to run. Eberron has it all, and each style of game can be run in any number of ways, so it is up to you to find what your players want to do, and then give it to them using the setting. I look forward to hear what you decide to go for! |

My players regarded it as a nominally different campaign world until those things guarding that one room showed up. I took the approach of not naming a monster, only describing it. They still have no idea what they're called, where they're from, or anything other than they were attacked by them. All they know about Sharn is the section(s) they were in and things they learned through the adventure. And that Changelings can be reallllllly hard to keep up with in a crowd...:D |
