There is a small tidbit about using Regions in your campaign as a guidleline for making your character more representative of the region...

Have any of you DMs using Eberron decided how you are going to incorporate regions into your campaign? Region specific feats, bonus equipment, varying starting equipment depending on region, certain classes or prestige classes, etc?

Thanks.

No bonuses. I'm using the to encourage unique and interesting characters. As my champaign started just this weekend I have two players starting it off. (everyone else was unavailable). One elven ranger for Valner (horse back archer), and a sailor/swashbuckler from the Lhazaar Principalites. I recomend using the "Region of Origin" section in chapter 1 to help players pick both skills and equipment, both of which are the slowest parts for character creation.

Well ---- with characters created & ready ----- region in my campaign is only going to give a place of history & flavor to my characters personalities. My campaign began with one of my Players being taken to her execution for espionage. I like to get things started with a bang. After an exciting escape of the city, she runs into the others after a caravan had been attacked & destroyed by mercenaries Darguun. So far action=packed & exciting. My players consist of a changling rogue, shifter ranger & a special NPC ( thanks to the Unearthed Arcana ). I would like to get some more to the mix but that's for later adventures & dtories to tell.

So mostly people are just having their players choose Regions just to know where they are from and flavor?

I know in the Forgotten Realms book there were bonus equipment and region specific feats. And I know there is probably certain types of equipment more available in certain regions.

For character creation I'm just using regions for a roleplaying assist. However, if later a hero wants to take a prestige class they will have to travel to a region where that class is found and get trained.

Also, some regions don't have logical connections to some feats. Many of the druid feats, for instance, are tied to the Eldeen Reaches. Nothing wrong with having a character start with those feats in another kingdom, but to learn them after character creation I think the hero would need to travel there.

I'm encouraging players to use the spirit shaman (Complete Divine) rather than druids in Q'Barra to make the area unique. I changed the spirit shaman's chastise spirits to chastise aberrations to help make it fit better into Eberron.
