written for a party of level 5 players? I feel bad for asking for other people's adventures but I've been hit with a BAD case of writer's block and I'm DMing wednesday. Its preventing me from writing regularly AND any adventure material. It wouldn't normally be a problem but I promised my friends we'd play on wednesday (they're eager to play, haven't played in a couple weeks). I wanted something involving combat, investigation, and maybe a little diplomacy but I can't think of ANYTHING. Currently they're in Sharn. So if anyone could help me out I'd be very appreciative. Sorry for asking for your material, feel bad already typing this but I promised my players, and we recently started the campaign (its my first campaign as DM, have played 5 sessions or so).

Thanks again. If you need my email just say so I'll PM it to you since I think its against forum rules to post emails on the boards (but I'm not sure).

I no longer run DnD anymore (allergy to magic-based campaigns).

But, if desperate, I suggest reading a novel (I read fast - can you get 200 pages done by tomorrow) or eating up a non-DnD adventure.

Unfortunately, I find writing social stuff into a campaign isn't as easy as investigation. Fortunately, Rich Burlew's Diplomacy rules make it really easy, so long as you make friendly NPCs. (Don't just have magic shops, have a named NPC. Don't bother statting him up or anything, but sometimes when a PC comes to them, he'll have a plot hook.)

Xen'drik ... jungle ... if you don't mind ripping off a novel blind (which your players probably haven't heard of), you might want to use Amazonia as an example. In the story, an adventurer (ok, one-armed CIA agent) shows up (in Stormreach) with two arms. He's also delirious, and dies. The heroes of the story need to track down how he got his arm back and give the info to a Dragonmarked House/government/power group/his family/his dog/whatever. Meanwhile, his body carried a weird and incurable pathogen to Sharn (ok, Florida), which means the heroes have another motivation to finish the adventure - saving Sharn. (Or Thrane, or the United States. Whatever.)

The source of the special agent is a (magical) tree which mutates animals around it until they're a lot bigger and more aggressive (see MMII template for huge animals, or just use dire, etc - they had 120 foot long crocs!). Its also guarded by a tribe of natives (or drow, or something stealthy), who go around laying traps like putting out scent marks to summon the land pirhanas, carnivorous locust swarms, and triple-size jaguars. The drow don't show themselves - even if seen, they'll just run away. Don't forget to plague them with mosquitoes - if they get sick, they'll get scared they're picking up the plague. If they don't get sick, they're probably wasting cure disease spells. If you have a paladin, they may feel more useful, too. And, of course, pit traps with snakes on the bottom, etc.

If the heroes feel they need a guide, give them several, including porters. Of course, one of them is a spy - make him a rogue.

Oh yeah, evil adventurers follow, including a tactician/researcher (make him a mage or druid with Child of Winter?), an evil witch doctor (renegade drow? Still evil), a heroic ranger, two heroic fighters (one of whom has Wild Cohort with some nasty and stealthy monster like a tiger), and a bunch of fairly stealthy fighter/rogue/rangers. Of course, the PCs are fighting their way through the monsters, making things easy for the evil NPCs. In the final battle (maybe the heroes can befriend these drow to get the cure - there's your Diplomacy, I hope) the bad guys barge in, start killing drow left and right and attack the PCs. And the spy strikes with a sneak attack!

For this, you just need to write some NPCs, give the tree and natives some flavor, and take a good look at the environment section of the DMG.

IF you can find it, look for Dungeon #129 or #133. Both have Eberron adventures slated for a level 5 group, both are social/mystery adventures, and both set in Sharn.

Issue #129 is the December Dungeon issue, so if you have an FLGS or a big bookstore in the area, you might want to check for it.

#133 isn't due out in stores until the 8th, so in that regard you're a little SOL.

If you're completely screwed otherwise, I can pmail you something I'm working on; it's set in Stormreach, but with some fenagling you can set it in Sharn.

Rechan beat me to it. Well done sir...this round goes to you. :D

You should be able to get Dungeon #133 at your FLGS right now. I picked mine up last week. Good hunting...and I hope you dig "Chimes at Midnight."

Should be.

I got mine at a gaming store all the way out in Hawai'i last week. Give a call tomorrow to your FLGS and check it out. Good luck guys!

It's for 5th level exactly and is all about a good mix of investigation and action. Hope you like it.

I actually ordered both issues from Paizo yesterday, so no need to go look for it.

Kabob, if you can't find #133, this (http://paizo.com/store/downloads/dungeon/113) might help.

It's a purchasable PDF of an adventure in Dungeon. It's an Eberron adventure for 1st level PCs, but I'm sure you could pump it up.

Red Hand of Doom is a superadventure for PCs level 5-10, though I think you could easily break it off at 7th or earlier. It's $30, which might be an obstacle, and not Eberron, though it's easy to mod (there's a thread titled "Red Hand of Doom" on the 2nd page or so; I contributed a lot to it, it turned out to be pretty nice) to Eberron.

Problem is, you might need to get your PCs out of Sharn for it.

Alternately, the Sharn book has a random corpse table in the back. Roll a few times until you find one that you could plausibly spin a quick track-down-and-kill adventure. Maybe Bob the Dead Guy had a signature ring, and the PCs will stumble into the guy wearing it - a local Daask boss. The resulting ass-kicking will take you long enough to finish the session quickly and run home to plot some more.

I posted my own adventure idea in this (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=589667) thread. If you're interested I could email you my notes on it. Not sure how much good it will do you, but maybe you'll get some ideas from it.

Oh its basically a few 'unrelated' events that the PCs take part in adding up to being hired by House Medani to investigate some disappearances... its kinda basic but it just hit me while I was watching Home Movies DVDs last night, so I paused the show, and started typing away at the outline. Gonna fill it out later, and I'll have a whole adventure ready for tomorrow! And on top of that I recieved my monthly Dungeon, and the Chimes of Midnight will be a great followup adventure. I'm even throwing in Victor Saint-Demain to help the PCs in this adventure, so they can see him before he gets crazy and vengeful. I'm even ending the adventure with him telling the PCs that he has an appointment with the Baron.. foreshadowing!

Awesome! I think "Chimes" is much much cooler if the PCs have already met Victor. Good gaming Kabob! :)
