Sorry is this have been asked before, but i cant really tell from the map. Well actually it didnt really go through on the map, it stops at both ends, but dunno if this is a printing error or not :(

Well, before the creation of the Mournland, the Lightning Rail went through the country of Cyre. However, since that fateful day House Orien has cut off travel through the Mournland.

For obvious reasons of course.

There is still a "track" of conductor stones that run through Mournland, though.

Well in theory the track is still there, but who knows if stones have been removed by someone, or if they've been warped by the Mournland. Only someone crazy or desperate would be fool enough to take that line.

It does not go through the mournland. It used to but the mourning messed up the track. I have been thinking about an adventure where the house in charge of the rail hires the adventurers to go and fix it. Thiswould be a massive undertaking and you would have to take a large crew of npc magewrights with you to fix the rail as you went on through. That could be a campaign in itself.

I just checked the ECS and the minimap on Mournland's page displays the tracks, while the world map that you can download from Wizards doesnt.

The simplest explanation, assuming the least of what we're given:
-House Orien doesn't want to risk sending expensive trains, house heirs and valued customers through the horrifying horrors of the mournland, and few people would want to risk the journey anyway.

Now more possible answers:
-The track may be broken. Maybe the conductor stones failed or the ground buckled, but some parts of the line may be broken. It doesn't matter if Orien knows this is the case or not, since they wouldn't be too keen to go in and find out.
-The stones have been warped by the mournland. Maybe now they do weird and unpleasant things. Perhaps there's a ten mile long arc of lightning running across the mournland along the rail line.

Now, if you want to go into the mournland by rail, there are some possibilities. It has been suggested Orien (Or possibly rogue rail-users) could have/invent some small individual vehcles for maintainance or emergencies. If the party could beg/borrow/steal/make one then they may have a good way to get to their doom faster.
A sufficiently desperate party could hijack a lightning rail carriage and force the driver to take them into the mournland. (Or possibly a rogue heir in the party or hired by the party could steal the train.)

I'd imagine the rail leading up to the Mournlands has had its conductor stones removed and placed down elsewhere. The stones aren't free, and Orien can use them to expand other lines, so taking the Rail into the mists would be impossible by now.

Perhaps Orien has a bounty out for conductor stones still lost in the mist. A conductor stone from the Mournlands would be worth studying... who knows what new properties it may have. Maybe a Cannith artificer hired by Orien could attempt to reclaim the magic from a stone, and end up accidentally electrocuting half the city of Passage.

Gasp! They're on to me! :shifty:

I won't let others disturb my little breeding pit of Living Lightning Bolts! I won't stand for it! :pbbbtt:
